  • Gumtree for a free ad. Cash and pickup of course.

What you paid for a used item is irrelevant. What it is worth to anyone willing to buy a used mattress is what matters.
King Coil is a off shoot brand of A.H. Beard, the best mattress maker around imo. Very few people looking at used mattresses would be aware of this and therefore may affect your price.
When you say "brand new" do you mean "unused" and still in factory plastic?

Regardless of where you advertise it make an effort to describe it correctly and put in GOOD CLEAR photos. Having them right way up helps too.

    • Which way is the right way up for a photo of mattress? ;) Anyhow, agree photos need to show that it is absolutely pristine.

People will happily stay on hotel mattresses without a thought, but a 2nd hand private sale mattress needs to be immediatly seen to be in excellent cond.

      • re photos the right way up anna… I was speaking in general terms re people who post ads…

        • Yes, I did realise that, it was an ironic comment. I also don't understand people who have photos the wrong way up.

  • Hi yes, it's brand new and still on the plastic wrapping. What do you think I could get for it. It currently sells for $3600 at beds online

    • You have it on as an auction starting at 99c, currently @ $113 with no reserve. You will see how much you can get for it in 6 days. Should get $1000 at least..??
Out of curiosity… you say in the ad your room mate paid for the mattress, has he given you permission to sell it?

  • He's gone back to the UK and wants me to sell it. He was really unlucky as he paid for it and have to go back about 2 weeks later - I was hoping to get $1200 or so for it. I just feel bad for him and I want to get the most for him.

  • I would have thought a local person would buy such a big item, so Gumtree would've been better - too late to cancel ebay? You will not get as much on ebay, I learned that the hard way.

    • Really should I cancle?

      • Keep it going, you have 17 bids and probably heaps watching. To many time wasters on Gumtree.

I say that as I list some items on both and it always sell on eBay over Gumtree.

Gumtree standard messages, what's your best price, how low will you guy, what the bottom etc etc.
