$0.30 Cones at Hungry Jacks

1530

After Macca's increased their price of a soft serve cone back up to 50c, Hungry Jack's (To the rejoice of OzBargainers) have lowered their price by 40% to a cool 30c.

With the exception of the Ikea bistro kids cone coming in at 25c, these could quite possibly be the cheapest cones around.

I'm not sure how much Hungry Jack's charge for Storm toppings, but this could potentially make a DIY Storm possible.

Sorry about the link, I could only find a Facebook post.

    Oh… those cones…

    • +2

Yeah, 30 cents would be the OzBargain deal of the century if it was for the other cones.

      • +10

I love me some cheap traffic cones too!

        • +9

I get all my traffic cones free

It was only ever 30cents on the loose change menu, before that it was always 50cents i believe.

    • +1

Before it was 50c and before it was 30c on the loose change menu it was 30c by default.

    • +12

Back in my day, they were 30c

        • That's it, sonny!

        • That is a disturbing ad. I hate McDonalds propaganda. Old people, war veterans. ugh. I despise it.

        • @jelko: You will be old one day and let's pray you never have to fight in a war. Respect these people for the lifestyle you choose to have.

        • +1

Lotsa presumptions there including knowing jelko's age, battle history, and lifestyle - and talking about respect in the same sentence!

        • +6

I don't have a problem with old people, war veterans etc. I have a problem with McDonalds exploitation of them to make a buck. Just like that ad a few years ago when some old war veteran goes into a McDonalds store on Anzac day, buys a coffee and some dopey McDonalds employee comes over with a sobre face and hands it to him. The veteran says "Thank you" and then the stupid cow says "No, thank you". It's enough make me want to puke.

        • Showing respect is just not cool.

As a kid I always referred to them as 30c cones when I went to buy one.

Out of habit now I still call it that. And every time the cashier looks at my with a dumbfounded look in their eye going 'it's 50 cents'. They probably weren't even alive when it was 30c!

I do the same thing buying bacon and egg muffins everywhere else calling them mc muffins.

        Freeken advertising.

That being said I'd still rather look stupid and pay extra for mc donalds cones because they taste better :p

        • I call 'em "tuppence cones". Except back then they had real icecream. None of this soy, beef tallow and palm oil concoction.

        • +1

Back in my day we couldn't afford cones. We'd have a piece of bread with milk on it.

  • +6

You could buy 14 cones for 4.20 ;)

    • -1

      r u 420 friendly?

  • Sweet deal with a cool saving!

  • +7

Nothing like a good old fashioned price war. Let's see how long it takes McDonald's to go back down to 30c.

  • Excellent

The cones are better at Hungry Jack's…

    • +3

Unfortunately they're not. I've always found they taste a lot more watery then Maccas soft serve.

      • I've always found HJ's soft serve more powdery in taste..

        • I prefer HJ's ice cream… flake sundae :-) :-)

        • I had one today and actually thought the exact opposite, probably just comes down to the mix on the day

        • @xywolap: the HJ on South Dowling St Moore Park Sydney used to have choc dipped for 90c (normal was 50). Still couldn't go past the choc dipped, but they don't do it any more :-(

  • these should be free..

    • I can understand why they aren't but on the other hand I totally agree with you.
We get free cones and they get new customers, some of whom will buy something else anyway.

  • +2

These soft serve comes used to be 90c before they went to 30c, then back to 50c and now back to 30c, I wonder how much they really cost?

    • +2

Probably around 5 cents for them.

    • I was wondering if the size has changed. In Argentina the cones cost more but they were much fancier.

  • +4

I just got one for the kids about an hour ago and it was still 50c

    • +2

      Yep 50c for me too.

    • I disagree with giving cones to kids

      • And I disagree with any employer paying teenage employees to pull cones…

      • -1

@robb6014 I disagree with stupid comments like yours

    • Was charged 50c each as well a few days ago

  • +1

I'm more annoyed that the apple pies went up by heaps.

    • +1

Choko shortage - law of supply and demand.

My daughter works at hungry jacks in Victoria and they are not lowering the price at all.

Mind explosion after offering 50c for one of these cones today, only to be told 'that'll be 30 cents'. At Sunnybank Plaza, Brisbane

    • +1

Should of paid another 10c and got another, brother

  • -5

30c for the Cones is way too expensive, unless they fill it with ice-cream!

  • It was only recently that Maccas put them up to 50c. I was getting them last year for 30c but went about a month ago and was shocked when they said it was 50c. Especially since at the moment you can get those waffle cones for only $1.
So driving past Hungry Jacks and seeing a huge 30c cone sign made my day!
How long will Maccas take to drop the price again?

  • Pov cones are back!

  • +1

My local maccas sells their cones for a dollar, so 30c sounds good :)

  • They are back up to 50c now.
