  • no one comment? is it a good upgrade from gf3?

Very tempted to get one of these but then I'd disappointed in the 14-42mm and I'd end up buying the 12-40mm f/2.0 Pro lens which costs almost twice as much as this deal… should probably stick with my Nikon V1 with 10-100mm, 18.5mm f/1.8, and 6.7-13mm lens (now that I finally have it) for portability, or my Canon DSLR kit for stuff I need better quality images.

    • Is 14 42 really that bad? How about the z version of this lens.. same?
I like the pro but it's heavy

    • V1 still a good rig, couple of my friends still bring it around as a carry :) they surprise me quite often.

      • Yeah, V1 is surprisingly good as an all rounder camera. The out of camera jpegs are quite poor from low light shots but shoot in RAW and convert to jpg and they are surprisingly low noise.

It's also quite good in auto which is good considering the lack of good full manual control.

    • sounds like this system is still quite bulky for a mirrorless? the main reason i want to get one is i hate to bring my d800 with me eveytime i go out. it is too heavy and bulky with any lens.

      • Well, I don't bring all those 1 system lenses with me all the time. If I'm just out and about, I'd probably just put the 18.5mm on for street photography. But for travel, the combo of those three 1 system lenses more or less covers what I need.

Definitely portable, esp if you get the right carry bags. 1 system lenses are so small it's not clumsy to change lenses when on the move.

  • Rep any deal for em10?

    • Sorry mate,
No real outstanding deal on it atm
its $679 for the em10 w 14-42 PZ and theres a $50 cashback from camerahouse
so $629 after the cashback. Its still a decent price, but no where near those digi levels last christmas

  • Rep, any deals on this camera with the 12-50mm kit lens? I already have the e-pm2 so don't need the 14-42mm kit lens. I've seen on ozbargain that people have bought the em5 with the 12-50mm for just over $500. I'm heaps annoyed i missed it!

    • Sorry mate, we only purchased the 14-42 kit in bulk, so there's no deal on the 12-50.
      e-m5 Body only is $399

      • Oh ok cool. So the body only for $399 would make it just under $699 with the 12-50mm lens? JB Hifi and Teds have the lens for under $300.

Or alternatively, what's the best price for the 14-42 kit plus the 12-50mm lens?

        • yep you are correct.
          the 12-50 is worth $300.

          so obviously
          body + 12-50 is $699
          body + 14-42 + 12-50 = $469 + $300 = $769 ( we cant do any better than these prices)

        • @auslagger:
Thanks, i ended up buying the OM-D e-M10 instead…had a few features that interested me, but it's a tough call between the two with the current prices!

        • @meowmeowmeow:

did you buy from camerahouse as well? $629 after cashback, right? couldnt see on ebay listing…

        • @erwinsie:

Nah digi direct for $655 with the 14-42 EZ lens. I think the cashback finished on 31 Jan, or am i missing something here?

Tempted to get the panasonic 12-32mm lens. The 14mm limit of the kit lens drives me nuts.

        • @meowmeowmeow:
did you buy it yesterday at digidirect behind apple store? :D i might see you during lunch break lol - they couldnt discount further $30-50? why not get samyang fisheye 7.5mm? or the olympus cap lens 9mm

        • +1

          @erwinsie:

Nah they are already the lowest price. JB HiFi at world square offered to match the price and i do get a 6% discount of jb hifi gift cards but it was a lot of hassle and everything for like a $30 saving lol, so i went with digi direct. I'm going overseas so will get the GST back anyway.

They'll try and sell you a filter, memory card and bag. I ended up getting the UV filter cos i was thinking about getting one anyway.

I went there yesterday at lunch. They have a lot of stuff there, it's a good shop. Be careful with what they give you - they tried to give me the regular lens instead of EZ and i asked for a silver camera and he gave me black so i made him swap it. I think they were both honest mistakes though, they weren't trying to rip me off.

I don't like the fisheye effect of those super wide lenses. Would love the 12-40PRO but so expensive. I can't justify the cost of those expensive lenses as yet. There's a guy selling the panasonic 12-32 brand new on ebay for $325 so i might think about that one.

        • @meowmeowmeow:

yeah i walked in to the store at the time you were complaining about the lens!
i like the 12-40 too but it is too heavy. if you will get the 12-32 then why didnt you just buy the body? hmm anyway, have fun with the trip.

        • +1

          @erwinsie:

LOL small world. I thought about just getting the body but the lens is only $100 on top of the body price, and it still has it's uses. If i get the 12-32mm i might consider selling the EZ lens. Have to try and sell my Olympus e-pm2 as well.

        • @erwinsie:
