NBN & Co Box Installed - Am I NBN Ready?

Hi all

Saw NBN & Co installed a box that has NBN marking on it, outside my house with line running from the street light to it, does this mean i'm NBN ready?

Cheers

Yep, sounds like you're ready. Are you NBN willing and NBN able, too?

    • Well i do see some cheap offers from Telstra and IINet but for a limited number of GB though.

  • Are you saying that the NBN box is in the street, or on the side of your house?

    • On the side of my house!

Your suburb might be NBN ready but unless NBN has installed a NTD (usually in your garage), your home is not NBN ready. Refer http://www.nbnco.com.au/connect-home-or-business/already-con…

    • You link show 2 boxes but i think i only see 1 box installed on the side of my house. The other one with data cables running into it looks like a modem.

From my link in the first video, the large grey box is the power supply unit with backup battery. The off-white box (one that looks like a modem) is the Network Termination Device (NTD) while the smaller white box to the bottom right connects the NTD to the NBN & Co box located on the side of your house. The NTD is the kinda like the NBN equivalent of a modem and it is this device that your router connects to for the internet.

You will need all these in order for your house to be NBN ready. Call NBN & Co directly to get it installed provided that your suburb's NBN infrastructure is ready.

In order for NBN & Co to install the boxes, they have certain requirements that your builder needs to prepare, refer below.

Once you have the boxes installed, only then can you sign up for a NBN plan with an ISP.
