I have been looking into IP cams to use with my Synology NAS as a security camera. I came across this and bang for buck, its pretty loaded with features, 1MP resolution, H.264, wireless, FTP, standalone AP + wireless connectivity. While this is more targeted at being a baby monitor (that's ok because we have one of those too) I suspect I will be be able to get it working with the NAS.

It doesn't have PTZ (Pan, tilt zoom) even though it looks like it is, PTZ is manual.

Cheapest on-line elsewhere is $139,plus this has free shipping and an 8GB SD card!!

        Hi the 3m extension cables do not apply to fosbaby Because the fosbaby uses a usb charger instead of the usual 5v or 12v power charger.

        However the 8 gb micro-sd card is still included in the fosbaby deal

      Hi there,

      In theory yes, although the IR chip is designed more for indoor areas where the light spectrum isn't as huge as outdoors.

      I would suggest you go for the FI9853EP mini dome (POE) or FI9851P mini dome (wireless) because it looks much better but if you are looking for p/t functions, grab the FI9821P which is the upgraded version of FI9821W with a newer IR chip.

      Note: The FI9805W/FI9805E ,FI9853EP & FI9828W are proper weather-proof outdoor cameras.

    Meh, pretty pricey for a 1mp camera. (Crap pic quality).
    Grab a decent Hikvision 3mp camera, it'll cost a bit more but will be much better.

        You've never heard of HikVision cameras??
        Do a search. They can record to NAS / iSCSI / etc.

        Hi, Foscam cameras can connect to any NAS.

        I guess your question is more on whether synology's build in camera surveillance supports Foscam cameras out of the box.

        This is more dependent on each NAS manufacturer to support the models in their software as the Foscam APIs are available to developers (including synology's development team).

      The FI8910W is currently selling at 89.99 and comes with free 3m power extension cords.

      The FI9821W v2 selling at $129.99 but I would recommend going for the new FI9821P model priced at $127.99 for a limited period. ( it also comes with 3m power extension cords and 8 GB micro SD card)

          Well, The FI9821P is a newer upgrade of the popular FI9821W v2.

          There was also an upgrade to the buildin IR chip for the FI9821P and comes with plug and play technology.

          I cannot provide a better price right now as promotions need to be sanctioned by Foscam before being broadcast but I can offer price matches if you find a better price from an AU retailer including the 3m extension cables and micro-sd card.
