They're cheap and cheerful (hopefully if it fails it fails in the warranty period and an easy return). Resolution is fine for TV watching and Wii but xbox / Blue ray / PS3 etc really do deserve a high res panel.
Mine failed one week outside of the warranty period. Luckily I had bought an extended warranty, although this turned out to be a nightmare and it took 3 months to get fixed. There are very few authorised Soniq repairers in Australia (only one in Sydney) and even they sometimes have real trouble getting the parts required. The repair cost $700 (charged to the warranty company), and it's starting to break again.
I personally would not buy another one. When mine died there was a 32" Sony HD LCD for only $60 more that the $600 this was going for.

We bought one in 2007. Still going strong and have no complaints about it. Got one for $800 at the time but was only SD version back then
I have 42 inch hd plasma I bought for 799 with 4yrs extended warranty…and I loved it!
What more can you expect at that price! A decent tv with hd input/output and reasonable picture and audio quality…
I'd say these soniq tvs when discounted and coupled with ext warranty for peace of mind, are always a good deal if not a steal.
I've had a 32" Soniq for about 12 months and very happy with it for the price. This is cheaper than what I paid!
Seems to have 3x HDMI… might be a bit better than the recent one we saw from Aldi?

extended warranty isnt a bad idea with the soniq, mine carked it not long outside of warranty

I bought a Soniq TV last Christmas as a gift for my partner. It failed within 10 -14 days after purchase! It had an inbuilt DVD player and one day it just wouldn't work - I think the cable or something came loose? When I went to return it at around 12-1PM on a Thursday, the guy said it was the 3rd one that had been returned that DAY!! The model I purchased was 24", had an inbuilt DVD player and inbuilt iPod dock for around $600-$650, I can't remember too well. I was quite hesitant on taking a replacement because of what he said so the salesperson ended up giving me a good deal on a Hisense 27" for another $50(I think).
Saw this today in the shop at JB in Liverpool Wesfield (NSW).
I can confirm it has 2x HDMI (not 3x).
Looks thick and cheap, but at this price, it's a good deal. I reckon come Xmas and post-Xmas (esp with the strong AUD right now), you might see better looking same sized screens for a similar price.
I actually purchased one today and can confirm it has 3x HDMI, not 2x HDMI. I'm able to provide a photograph if anybody requires proof.
I talked to the sales guy, the panel inside is a Sharp, on the outside of the box it says 'MADE IN JAPAN' inside a red star, advertising where it was manufactured.
For the money you really can't go wrong. Because its under $500 you can pick up a 4 year extended warranty for just $89.
Not as good as a Sony or a Panasonic but hell it's only half the price.
Worth every cent!
could be better if they dont have brand on it but so far i am very happy with the one i brought from ALDI
