If it aint an Inspire 1….save your cash!

All authorized resellers are required by DJI to sell to this 'midweek sale' that is occurring each week until the end of Feb. Better support and warranty possibilities if you buy local.

    • … except Kogan.

  • Would love one but can see them being banned or licence req in near future.
    What do others think?

If you use it for personal use then I doubt they will require a license in the future - just to follow rules like the CASA ones listed at the bottom of the article.

They've proposed weight tiers in the future potentially - with anything under 2kg able to be used commercially without a license. I've built one myself and it's around 1.4kg with a GoPro.

I can see that happening as well if people disregard the CASA rules, don't use their common sense (which I know is NOT as common as I think it is!) and just fly like idiots as they see fit.

I actually read all the CASA rules and made sure I was familiar with the 5.5km exclusion zone around airports etc before I actually bought one. It will be sad if recreational drone flying is locked down but then again, we can only blame the people that fly these things without fully understanding the rules first if/when that happens.

      • I live 9km from the (Melbourne airport as the crow flys) but the take off flight path goes directly above my house nearly ever day. Bit worried if i went up to high.

you shouldn't be flyin' anywhere that high & always within line of sight anyway

All I can say to that is: If in doubt, don't risk it. It's not only your life that you're endangering but possibly the lives of many others.
