    1080i

  • Not sure if this camera is high quality enough? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP3PUCCApps

Even at 1080p the video still looks grainy

      Can't read any number plates…

      • +1

Able to read number plates only possibly with good lighting, cars either stationary or slow-moving, and the car almost directly in front. Do not expect to read opposite travelling cars' number plates on the highway.

Having said that, this is a case of you get what you paid. The video quality of this cam is crap compared to quite a few other models (more expensive) out on the market now.

      • Can't read any billboards!!!

        • that will actually save you impulse purchases ;)

    • Uniden's brochure indicates it's a HD, not Full HD one: http://www.uniden.com.au/RESOURCES_MAIN/pdfs/iGO_CAM_Range_B…
So it only can record up to 720p and then interpolate to 1080i. And I don't think youtube video is lossless, thus the original video stored in SD card should be slightly clearer.

  • What's the normal price?

  • +2

Having just needed to use my crash-cam footage, quality of video counts. Spend a few dollars more and you be thankful for when needed as you want it to be clear & always just work.

What have you got nonpop? Interested to hear real world example and hope your accident wasn't too bad.

G1WH which is a good generic camera. Reviews were solid so I took the gamble when it was on promo. Ended up buying 2 of them after using 1 for a month. Got them from banggood. 1 had a faulty cig lighter cable and banggood replaced it ASAP. have been working for about 6 months non stop faultlessly. No gap in the recording either. With our issue when the other driver saw the footage he accepted fault and all went well. $50 saved my $800 excess + NCB.

  • We have two of these (one in each car). They are really flakey, and there have been a few times where we have needed the footage and they had not kept the video. It does not do continuous recording - that I know - in the traditional sense. ie it doesn't fill up the card then continue recording over. Instead it deletes files after a short while and only keeps them if the g sensor picks up an accident or you press the mode button. But even then I did not seem to keep the video

For bang-for-buck…G1W-H or G1W-C anyday…Save your money on this Uniden and get something better.

  • I have this machine and it works great it doesn't use MPEG compression so it's easy to read traffic numbers / signs

Doesn't have speed monitoring which would have been useful when I got a speeding fine last month

  • They also have a 1080p Full HD Action Camera $39.00 -

    Navig8r Sports Camera HD 720P $19.00 -

The description says - $19.00 one does loop recording, but nothing about the $39.00 one.
    Might be worth checking.

    • OMG. Bought the same in HN on ozbargain deal last year for $49. List $99.

  • Put your money towards a mini 803. Trust me.
