Have checked usual sites, this is the cheapest deal around. These guys ran this same deal before end of last year - thankfully prices haven’t gone up given AUD has tanked nearly 10c against USD since.

Lastly, not sure when this deal is on till, I was looking for one and checked previous deals on OzBargain to find this. If anyone finds out please let me know and I’ll update the deal. Thanks.
Edit - Changed title to include D9.

I bought the archer d9 from these guys on a previous ozbargain.
Good service, so no problems recommending them for what it's worth.

    • Same as redcreek200 - I'm happy with the vendor and the Archer D9!

For the D9 see acek47's OzB code in comment below.

      Archer D9@ $198.99 delivered - THAT is a deal! :)

  • -1

Yes, but is this NBN ready? :)

    • -6

You don't need a modem for nbn so it's irrelevant.

    • +1
      • +1

        Every router is nbn compatible

        • +1

Er, don't think so. An "ADSL modem/router" isn't necessarily gonna have the ethernet port you'd need to work with the NBN. In this case the D7 seems to have both, though.

        • +5

Yes, but not all modem/routers are NBN compatible.

An older device with only a WAN connection via RJ11 will not be NBN compatible.

        • -8

who said anything abt adsl. Thought we talking abt nbn

        • @acek47: Yes it would.. You could still connect to the NTD on the WAN port and then plug your phone into the rj11 port =-]

        • WOW! I was joking everybody….sorry it wasn't funny…..

  • Is this router compatible with TPG FTTB (aka VDSL)?

    • The router is compatible, however I believe you need your own VDSL modem.

        • +3

          How did he "mislead" anyone?

The guy asked if it was compatible, not "I have X, is this the best option for me?"

        • -1

@djkelly69: what's wrong with these 7 voters? it's clear that he is asking for router only, who the hell will suggest a modem+router as saying it's a compatible router? Not to says it's not a compatible modem, using a modem as router only is not straight forward and he will end up paying a tech to setup.

        • @leetec: Again, that poster simply asked if it was compatible, to which the rep replied yes.

It is not reasonable to expect the rep to assess the guy's entire setup and recommend the best device for him when asked a direct, simple question. This also ignores the fact that the rep would no doubt be happy to sell him a router only if that is what he wanted.

Even if this is not the best device for him, it is nowhere near misleading.

  • A question, about to get nbn, any suggestions for wireless adapters to go with it? Ta

    • Depends on what router you go for. If you get something like the D7, then you would want a similiar adapter like the Archer T4U

      • This modem came with this adapter on last promotion.

  • I've been holding out hoping for a discounted D9, but this is good kit too, so I'm jumping on it.

    Any wireless1 discount codes?

    • -2

      Yeah "TIGHTASS" for10% off

      • only 10% ?

        lol

        • Centrecom has the d9 for $219 which is a good price

        • +2

          @Gavman:

Yeah it's a pretty good price, but then shipping spoils it. My ideal situation is for the D9 to go to $199 shipped again. (or pick up available in Bris)

Don't know how long I'll have to wait for that!

        • i guess if u need it shipped it's not worth it. I bit the bullet and got the D5 when it was $105. Pretty much the same unit as this Sligjtly lower ac speed but it's been great so far. If u got a normal home with few devices I wouldn't waste it on D9. Your not gonna realize much more performance for the Internet. Unless u got a file server.

        • @Gavman:
Nice work: D5 for $105 is cheap as chips, and a decent ac modem router!

I'm trying to get to a decent home network setup. I've got my computer running plex server and a WD network HDD trying to feed hd content over wifi to my Samsung smart bluray player. Not sure how demanding this is and if ac is the magic cure. Current system doesn't really work so we usually just copy what we want to watch to a portable HDD and plug in directly. I'm looking forward to an upgrade.

        • ac is faster and should handle the throughput but also the downside is ac is it range capability on the 5ghz which means it tends to be a weaker signal especially through obstacles so if ur router is far away or u got alot of walls in between the signal is going to be weaker compared to N on 2.4ghz. U would need to look at also getting a wifi extender to counter the poorer signal strength. That being said the N is @ 600 so it's at the top end on the D9

      • Hi, when I applied the code, its saying code not valid.

        Any other code plz?

        Thanks

        • +3

          Try this one: READTHEPOST

There's no code. You really are a lazy desi lol

        • See if you can apply "GULLIBLE" ? ;)

        • +1

          LOL

I have to admit, I typed it in just for fun, but I'm pretty sure Gavman was joking!

        • lol

        • Sorry the real code is "IMATIGHTASS"

    • +15

      The people have spoken!

I've managed to squeeze the Archer D9 down to $199 for my fellow OzBargainers!

      Please use this code: OZBARGAIND9

Grab it quick, limited coupon uses available :D

As always, thanks for the support guys!

      • That's nice but code don't work

        • +1

You'll need to login for it to work, but it definately does :)

        • -2

          Yeah, not working

        • -2

i don't have an account so not Gona check. If it's works though $199 is a steal at the moment. Too bad I don't need one

          @iceman82 was keen tho!

        • +4

          Thanks acek47,
I can confirm the code it works.
I just purchased the Archer D9 with the OZBARGAIND9 code.
You need create an account and login.
          Then apply the code.
It will update the price to 198.99 that includes standard shipping, so that is all I paid.

I had the item in my cart before I created the account and log in. It was all still fine, all too easy.

        • Glad it worked :D

        • @acek47: I created an account and it didn't work

      • Do you guys sell Google chromecast?

        • +1

Sorry Gavman, out of stock! When we get some in, I'll make sure to PM you!

      • +1

I'll grab one if you can do a deal with 2 Archer T4U adapters.

        • +1

Agree. Would love to see a deal with an adapter.

      • +2

        WOOHOO!

        Purchase made. Thanks heaps :-)

Not sure what I'll do with the bonus IP camera. Might sell it if anyone buys these things?

edit: maybe someone can update the OP to include this deal?

        • +4

        • @acek47: all good, code wasn't working but sorted it. Thanks!!!

      • Is this expired already? The coupon was working for me but when I made the payment and it was declined and the coupon doesn't work anymore…

        • +3

I had the same problem, got declined with my credit card for some reason. Created a new account then used Paypal and it was all good : )

        • @iMacca: Thank you iMacca.

        • @iMacca: Awesome, I created a new account and was able to get it working. Thanks

      • Thanks Rep! Just ordered one :)

      • +1

        Thanks @acek47 !!!

      • Bought one :)

  • How many devices can be added for mac address filtering? Belkin ac1750 supports only up to 20

    • I never got the jist about Mac filtering. What's it's purpose?

      • +1

To block whole North Korea's MAC — based on his name. :)

        • Haha it's very handy when sharing internet with many people

      • +1

All devices (mobiles, tablets, laptops, desktops, gaming consoles etc.) all have a unique MAC address. With a MAC filter you can set it to allow or deny certain MAC addresses and therefore the devices.

Essentially it means you can choose to only allow certain devices to connect to the router, or deny certain devices even if they have the password.

      • IceCreamBandit nailed it right on the head. It's an added layer of security.

However, like all forms of security, it is not completely foolproof. A sufficiently sophisticated attacker can spoof a MAC address and thus gain access. Still, the fact that it's there just raises the bar for difficulty. It may be enough to not make you the low-hanging fruit. That being said, it won't stop a targeted attack.

If we look at your internet security as analogous to a house, secure passwords, MAC filtering, firewall rules, etc., etc. are all bricks in your fence. The more security protocols you have in place, the higher your fence is. An opportunistic criminal may see it and just move along to your neighbor who only has a rusty gate.
However, if said nefarious person needs to target you for some reason, then he will be able to get in, it'll just be harder and may require more specialised tools.

  • Hello guys… would you be able to help me with this concern re modem problem? Started thread here
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/182077

    • Never heard that before. Beside the fact adsl2+ hasn't change much in the last 5 years I don't see how the modem would all of a sudden not be able to throughput anymore. If ur net is slow chances is it's not the modem but it could be the line quality from ur place to the exchange. Before u upgrade get ur ISP to test the like and if they identify any issues get them to call in the techi to fix it

      • Thanks. We noticed that the home phone line is not clear. If we attach the home phone the Internet speed drops further. So now we have not connected the home phone to the socket just connected the modem directly to the wall socket. No filter in picture.

Do you think the bad phone line might be causing slowness in Internet?

        • Yes. Same happened to me. My line was staticy and crackling. The line should be clear. Call tpg and ask them to do a line test. They should find an issue and book in someone to fix it. Ur internet should be restored after that.

In my case I was getting 3500kbps and after the repair I ger over 11000kpbs.

I didn't need to change my old modem but that was cos my old netgear was drop out king. Tp-link d5 fixed that

        • Thx. Last time line test was clean…they confirmed no problem at tpg side. But for sure we know that telephone line is not clear. Im wondering if TPG will ask me to get the private engineer on my own cost to fix the telephone cabling or tpg can fix the cabling by themselves?

        • not sure. Would be a dog act if they did. if they detect a fault they should call OPTUS or Telstra who should then fix it if the problem is infrastructure related. I'm with exetel and they were most helpful. I reported the fault and Optus were out the next morning and repaired it before lunchtime.

        • @Gavman:
Thanks. Let me ask TPG to redo the line test on Monday n get their response on cause. Then I can request them to get help from Telstra to fix the cabling in my property. Lets see….

  • Yeah got this modem from these guys on a previous deal think it was circa $150 at the time; quick delivery, and modem has been great so +1 for the deal

  • Free movie ticket as Valentines promo?!!!!!!
TP Link hurt my delicate feelings!!!!

Are you saying that since I like fiddling around with my home network, that I don't have a date?!
And assume that I will only need 1 ticket because I will be off to the movies all by my lonesome self?!!

    Thats insulting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +1

Brilliant, wanted one of these for a while now to replace my aging modem+n router. Bought!

    • Great, thanks for supporting us! :D

  • Bugga! I just ordered one on Friday :/

  • :/

  • +1

Love mine from previous deal. That one came with free AC Wifi USB 3.0 adaptor.
Can vouch for this unit. Strong signal, very reliable ( no re-boots required).
Web based UI is a bit iffy, but it works

  • Anyone know whether this can be used for VoiP? And if it doesn't, what can I do to make it work with voip, like is there additional device i can buy in addition? Thanks.

    • VOIP isn't built in. It is certainly usable if you have a VOIP enabled device like the gigasets that are so popular on whirlpool or if you have an ATA device to use with your phones. There are 4 usable RJ45 ports if you're on ADSL, or 3 if you're lucky enough to be connected to an NBN fiber NTD.

  • Code for D9 expired already??

    • Nope shouldnt be, you just to login :)

      • Just did that but may have stuffed up the system as Internet got disconnected while going thru to PayPal
        so now code is invalid…help!

        • Hmm, I'm not sure how to help further! Another post stated:

"I had the same problem, got declined with my credit card for some reason. Created a new account then used Paypal and it was all good : )"

        • @acek47:
All good now but had to create another account. Thanks

  • I wonder if you can pick this up from the shop. I guess I am going to find out tomorrow. Otherwise im buying one online.

    • Sure, come down :)

      • He is not upstairs. Can he still come???

  • +1

    thanks op, bought one

  • -2

Damn purchased the D-Link Viper this arvo from you guys! Hopefully it was worth it over this and my existing TP-Link TD-W8960N

  • Hey guys, I live in Clifton Springs, past Geelong and our internet is horrid up here. We have unlimited Dodo ADSL 2+ but it constantly drops out all the time. Speed is okay its the dropouts being the huge issue. Now we have a Netgear N150 ADSL2+ Modem Router DGN1000 (exactly what is says on the machine).

Could this be the big issue as we have had it for quite some time. Would upgrading to something like this make things better, is this a good deal or is their better out there. We are heavy internet users so the dropouts drive us crazy. We need to plug a phone into an old phone line mounted on the wall and use a splitter to plug into the router, could the age of the phone line wall plug also be an issue.

Sorry for sounding so naive but really don't have much of a clue when in comes to these things, would love some help…

    • This sounds like a line problem, not really modem related. You may have poor insulation or cabling into your house. Call a tech perhaps?

  • The D7 seems to have gone back to $169 now. Bought a D9 for $199. Good deal!
