  • Is the RAR 2.1CH Sound Stand with Built-in Sub worth buying or do I need to wait for a sound bar goes on special?

    • +1

I bought one last time, first unit was a dud that would drop out every minute. Replaced it and new one works well.
Using it to replace built in speakers on a 40" Bravia and it does a good job. It's very loud for it's size and didn't distort once during the beach scene of Edge of Tomorrow. The sub isn't very powerful, but makes a decent difference to be worth the money on said TV.
There's only 3 sound options, no customization.

      It could be really big.
      You should extract it first.

  • Don't bother with the Logitech G710. The keycap quality is absolute crap. The stem which connect the key to the switch are particularly brittle and if they crack and fall apart Logitech expects you to send back the entire KB just to replace one keycap.

I absolutely positively couldn't disagree with you more. I've had one for a year and a half and it's built like a tank. I've never heard of anyone breaking keycaps on a mechanical before, so you must be one enthusiastic gamer to say the least.

      • There is a 15 page complaint thread on the Logitech forums with people complaining about the crappy quality and Logitech's ridiculous policy of returning an entire keyboard, which as you know isn't light or small, back just to replace a cracked keycap.

If you've never had any problems it stands to reason you wouldn't have heard any complaints; you wouldn't be searching for it.

It is interesting you use the word 'tank' to describe the g710+. Logitech has video of a tank running over the g710+ and still functioning.

You'd think with that sensational claim even the most aggressive, key-smashing gamer couldn't so easily crack the keycaps.

This might be a batch issue, but it doesn't change their stupid policy of returning the entire keyboard for the sake of a keycap or two.

        • it IS a batch issue

So pissed off! I'd been waiting ages for the z906 to go on sale again! Picked it up last week PM with Officeworks $320 :(
Exzcellent sound system though, $269 is an incredible bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • I'd give my right nut for another Logitech Z-5500. BEAST of a system.
      I imagine it's the all-time champion for bang-for-buck, and in SUCH a low price-bracket ($290 delivered!)

….yet they don't sell it anymore?!!

      Selling on GumTree for $200-$250 2nd hand… probably a good-sign, unfortunately!

      • I hear you, I miss my 5500! A drunk friend turned them up to the boost section at a party and blew the sub and control pod. Logitech sent me the Z906's as a replacement as the others were under warranty. Awesome system (for this price range), but they really don't hold up to the old Z-5500's ='(.

      • I still have a working Z-5500 set. Apart from the shocking juice-use on standby, they are great.

At the start of their astonishingly long model run, I believe that they had a list price of $999! Definitely at $699 list for a good couple of years before the price started to drop.

I bought mine at $319 from Umart, after confirming that the model had been discontinued.
I didn't really need them, but I just had a gut-feeling that the replacement model would be something of a shadow.

  • Just picked up the logitech G710+ today. first time using a mechanical keyboard, its pretty good.

Yep, I got one a while back too, can't recommend it enough.

I do get the odd ghosting when playing games every now and then. It's rare but it happens.

      • It's even better once you remove the rubber o-rings under each key.
