    The problem I've noticed with these offers is that the length of stay in the US is often 2-3 weeks.

    Would it be at all possible to find similar priced flights (i.e. ~$900-1000 return) with a length of stay of ~3-4 months (departing Feb 2016, return June 2016). Also, what would the cheapest one-way flight to LA/San Fran be in Feb 2016?

      I doubt there are fares available for that price, as these are sale prices & the usual price is $1200+

    Rep, what sort of sale fares does Qantas do for SYD-DFW? Do they ever get to around the $1000-mark?

      Now you're stretching me…

      I'm not really up on fares to DFW & don't have any exact data on it for sales fares. The cheapest I have seen Qantas is $1200 to LAX about a month ago. So for fares to DFW I would add $150-$200. The LAX to DFW part you can book yourself on whatever is cheapest, as I don't think Qantas flies there using their own planes anyway (looking on the Qantas website they codeshare with United for LAX->DFW).

        Qantas QF7 flies SYD→DFW direct, meaning you bypass the mess that is LAX. But I don't see sale fares for it. Might be a decent alternative to MEL→AKL→SFO if the price is right.
