Go on, you know you want it!

PS> took the guy at Masters about 1 hour to approve the price match, by which time I was fuming and gave him and his manager a piece of my mind. Hence why I never shop at Masters (EXCEPT for price matching deals).

+1 for you sticking out with the price match at Masters, they are absolutely the worst.

I waited for an hour once for the staff members to get "approval" to apply their own policy, after which I walked out of the cursed shop one hour closer to death, but no closer to installing the doors in my house for which I originally went there for!

    • you could have just done the price match online and pick up in store.

      • If you mean in the online chat, you'd have to be able to show them a URL with the price to match. Even then it's at the store manager's discretion. They're mongrels when it comes to price matching, you have to really want the product and have time to burn.

        • me and my mates have done a few price matches via their online chat. haven't had any issues so far. none of our time have been wasted :)

on this deal, the OP lost 1 hour of time and 1 hour of additional stress, plus travel time. If you can afford $225 so you don't need to open your garage door by hand, then your time is worth more than $25/hour - not sure if that is worth +1!
Alternative was to buy it directly at Bunnings instead of just taking a photo, gone home, installed it and be sitting back with a beer…

      • If I knew it would take so long I wouldn't have bothered, but I was there and already half way through so it made sense to follow through. Also my local Bunnings had no stock.

+1 also for only shopping at masters for price beat. They are terrible, i'll only shop there if they are cheaper by a bit because it is not worth the hastle and i don't like to support them.

  • Tempted to get one as ready-at-home(-and-at-bargain-price)-replacement in case the incumbent 70s B&D opener dies.

    • The store assistant at Bunnings said these are made by Merlin who are pretty good apparently, and the 5 year warranty gives piece of mind. I feel bad that I did not buy it from Bunnings because the guy there was really helpful.

  • Bunnings don't sell that model. At least not on their website

    • Um, yes they do, I took the photo at Bunnings, but the store I went to had no stock. Not on website as it may be a clearance item.

      • Yep I didn't look at the photo! Cheers I'll take a look in store

        • I called a few Bunnings stores around my area and stock was very low and missing remotes in some cases. That's why I ended up going to Masters. They had at least 10 in stock.

I hate when I return a stuff at Masters, they will ask you alot of questions. When I return at Bunnings, no question. ;)

    • that's not true. i've returned stuff to bunnings. they do ask why are you returning it. same goes with masters they ask what's wrong with it, and if you tell them it's faulty then no questions asked after that. if you're returning with pure change of mind then i guess you deserve the 1000 questions.

  • Notting Hill Vic has one MLR750 for $199 (old stock, build date 2008 on the very worn looking box) and one CR550A marked down at $180 (dec 2013 build).

I grabbed the second last CR550A at $180.
