Geekbuying Processing Time Discussion

Hello there I recently bought a phone of geekbuying since they have a case as well and I can't find anywhere else. I bought it on the 8th and till now my order says Processing even though they have taken my money. I emailed them and they assured me that my product would be posted on Thursday however I haven't seen anything in my inbox yet. Can I just ask on previous users of geekbuying how long it takes to take from processing to shipped and should I be worried?

  • Here's the time frame of the last order I placed with Geekbuying (apologies for the formatting, copied straight from my discussion with their rep):

25/08/2013: Ordered product with expedited shipping.
27/08/2013: Emailed requesting update as order had not been dispatched so was unlikely to meet the projected delivery time of 3-5 days. No response.
29/08/2013: Emailed a second time asking for a reply.
29/08/2013 (later in day): Recieved automated email advising of dispatch.
31/08/2013: Recieved email advising for tracking number change.
    02/09/2013: Item delivered, without signature.

The thing that irked me here was that I had paid $54 for expedited shipping (including a "remote location fee" for being 3km's from the Adelaide CBD).

One the plus side, the phone worked like it was meant to :D

  • This is the statusof my Xiaomi battery order according to the app Aftership, https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ocfom31erxurvb/geekbuying.png?dl=…

  • standard asian store time for me. (2 weeks)

Banggood has been taking forever though.

  • Only just saw this. The warehouse staff at Geekbuying were incredibly busy trying to send out orders before the Chinese new year and the delays in some products arriving from the factory didn't help this. Majority of staff are now back, so if it hasn't been shipped yet, it's definitely not too far off.

Typically, processing takes a few hours to a week and is not included in the advertised shipping times. You will find that this is how majority of businesses both in Australia and abroad operate. In my experience packages after <7 days of processing have reached me within 3 weeks of airmail, 3 days with TNT and 1 week with EMS (Auspost Express).

    • 7 days to process a order?? Phew…if I did that with our shop we would no longer be in business. Next day dispatch and if anything longer the customer is notified. Either via email or it is stated on their invoice. Also emails should get replied to within a business day. No excuses.

Customers understand problems arise but if you keep people informed they are alright. I get back to my customers super fast and I think half the time they are surprised they had any response. People seem to be used to poor customer service…

      • That post was made during Chinese New Year when most of China including services like TNT China, China Air Mail etc were closed for 1-2 weeks. Typically, it will take 2-3 days processing, but there are always delays after a major holiday. Worth mentioning that I'm not even employed by Geekbuying, hence why I have an associated tag. As you would know business practices in China are very different to here, but I do know they're trying to improve. Also, I've been posting for them because they were getting some account issues resolved.

  • I dont think i will buy from geekbuying again. Its been more than a month and i still have not received item, and after sales support are horrendous (been 3 days and no reply)

    • I'm really sorry to hear that. There was a 2 week period during the middle of Feb when majority of China was closed for CNY. There were a lot of orders to be fulfilled from before and during CNY, so there has been delays. Worth mentioning that after processing shipping can take up to 30 days if you select free shipping, as mentioned on the checkout page.

What is your order number? I can find out for you.

      • Appreciate the effort. My order no: 3264880

        • Send me a PM and I'll give you the tracking number etc.

        • @Clear:

That's okay, I got the tracking no, but its not telling me anything useful, plus I got the support email now. Thanks though

        • @Qmar: Free airmail is vague unfortunately. if it say's it's dispatched to overseas or is on transit to country destination then it means either in Australia or very close.

        • @Clear:

Well guess what…. its been more than 2 months now and I have not received the item. I have asked sales support for a refund given wait times and they just told me to wait longer. sigh

        • @Qmar: I'll send a message to my contact at Geekbuying and hopefully she can help get it sorted. I'm really sorry you've had bad service.

        • @Clear:
Well, your aftersales support pretty much havent done anything. Its going to be 4 months wait in a couple of days. I dont understand why you guys dont want to give me a refund. No postage in the world takes more than 100 days unless you did sea freight.

        • @Qmar: I'm not sure what they've done then. Perhaps its time for a paypal dispute?

  • Bunch of scammers if you ask me - I've had a PayPal dispute in with them for over a month for an item I ordered ages ago ($100+) with nil response, they wouldn't even respond to the PayPal dispute let alone emails, have now escalated to a claim and they've given PayPal a bogus shipping number (but that's it), hoping buyer protection comes through.

Think they run on the typical dodgy overseas online store thing of hoping people will forget about it, or just be happy that it finally rocks up.

I'd be supportive of banning them from the site, seems like they they use a sock puppet type of posting anyway.

  • Crap I wish I saw this before I ordered a phone and cover yesterday 24/05/2015. I'll post back on here when it arrives

  • According to the post above me ,it sounds like another person who did not get there product,
I think I will stay clear of Geekbuying & that other Grey Market business with bad reputation called "Coolicool",
WoW I thought "AliBABa" & its forty thieves was Bad.

  • Can add to the list of bad experiences with these guys. Purchase is endlessly stuck in 'processing', which conveniently wasn't mentioned before checkout.

According to the website 'processing' takes 1-3 business days; customer support say 3-7 business days. So don't expect delivery in less than a fortnight, even if you pay for expedited shipping.

    • I'm here for a reason. Is it still stuck at processing or did you get it in the end?

  • After two weeks they told me one part of the order was out of stock, and that they'd refund it and send the other part (which has arrived). Refund never happened. It's with a PayPal dispute now.

Thanks for offering to help out but might as well let the PayPal thing play out.

    • That will probably be best. In future please feel free to contact me or if you ever email them, mention that you bought stuff from the "deal site, Ozbargain" as I've made an arrangement with them to give us better service.

  • Adding my frustration in here too.

Brought a MI MAX & specifically used DHL shipping so I could get the order faster.

    Ordered & paid: 14/7/2016

Now my order is just sitting in the "Order Status: Payment Confirmed (Processing)" stage - very frustrating as no one is on their live help & not answering Emails.

1st time, order got stuck in "processing" for 2 wks.
2nd time, order is still stuck in airmail since 1 mth ago.
    3rd time, there won't be a 3rd time…

  • Has anyone ordered using DHL or Australia Direct Line? DHL is 3-5 BDs but Australia Direct Line is 5-8 BDs and half the price…

    • Australia Direct is actually Auspost Express. For a while now Auspost have been operating in China and offer a fast shipping option for a low price. My own orders have arrived within a week after processing from GeekBuying. As DHL is a global courier they'll be even quicker.

      https://auspost.com.au/business-solutions/parcel-shipping-co…

  • I have to admit I'm most impressed with how quickly my GPD Pocket arrived. Ordered on 4/8 (literally minutes after I posted the above comment), and it arrived yesterday morning before 7am at my apartment (14/8). Whilst there was some nervousness with the slowness for it to be processed after payment and for it to actually be picked up by DHL, once it was with DHL, it only took the weekend (literally from Friday to Monday) to get here and through Australian customs/etc.

  • Odered a phone 3 weeks ago, "will send an email once shipped" still haven't happened, reading all the above discussion making me nervous. Lodged a paypal dispute.

  • The last time I bought something from them they posted the item 1 month after I paid, and that's after I emailed and ask. Never buy from them again.

      Hi Andries Greeff,

I'd like to address a few points for you. Before I begin I will remind you that I am associated, but not an actual employee of GeekBuying.

Account indicated PAYMENT CONFIRMED, however still showing PROCESSING after 5 days, and shipping advertised as 3-5 days delivery.

You have misunderstood what GeekBuying are advertising. The shipping time and processing time are different. There are several places where this is stated. For example, during checkout there is a note under the Shipping Methods that states the processing time by the warehouse is separate to the advertised shipping times. It's also mentioned in the Shipping Guide several times.

So according to your order it should take GeekBuying 2-7 business days to process the order and 3-5 business days for DHL to deliver the order.

In regards to saying that the GeekBuying representives are rude and can't read/write proper English. Are you aware that GeekBuying is a Chinese company where English is not their first language? It's unrealistic to expect them to have perfect English. Furthermore, the comments made by you towards the representative are disgusting. How would you feel if someone treated you the same? Customer service and common decency is a two-way street and something you need to learn.

      • That's exactly what I was thinking there. What an appalling attitude this Mr. Greeff is having.

        • Indeed. He didn't even bother to respond and hasn't been back since the 24th of April.
