[VIC] Powershop Electricity $75 FREE Credit for New Customers

21

As many people know, Powershop is an online power company. You are able to see up to date usage and costs just by logging into your account. You can also then pre buy "packs" to further save on costs.

This offer is for free $75 credit for new members that sign up. They have had this offer previously, but they have expired (or was reduced to $50 at one stage). The current offer ends 31 March 2015.

If you found this post useful, you can also use me as a referral. You still receive $75 credit as per the deal, but I will also get $75 credit too. So it's a win-win. Just PM your email and I'll shoot back a referral straight away.

    • Yes, but this is a reactivated offer. People keen can just click on the link. It's not about referrals as such. If people wish to refer, they can but it's not needed.

This isn't a new offer - has been their standard offer since Feb 2014 (according to web.archive.org), which is how long that url has been active - but with a different date.

"You are able to see up to date usage and costs just by logging into your account."

Anyone one the Jemmena network can do that via their portal.

    • True, and you can with SP and others as well. Having said that, there are a few hoops to jump through to get it all up and going with the distributor portals, while Powershops is easily accessed and quite handy (you can make notes on times for when doing something that uses a lot of power for reference).

After you download a year's worth of smartmeter data in CSV format from the Jemena portal, upload it to the Vic Gov's My Power Planner site and it will tell you the cheapest power plan based on your usage. Makes it so easy to compare plans, with real data and not estimates. That does assume that your last year of electricity usage is a good indicator of your future usage.

BTW, there could be some delay in electricity plans being updated in My Power Planner. Simply Energy increased their plan prices, but it wasn't reflected in My Power Planner a few days later.

If it wasn't for the free Gold Class tickets with Simply Energy Gold plans, I would of jumped on this deal.

      • Victorians should definitely use the state Govt My Power Planner site to find out the cheapest energy company in their area. Doing so would also make it a more competitive market.

That site covers all the providers unlike the more heavily advertised commercial comparers and there is no commissions, etc to sway the results shown.

  • A salesman, on $75 commission for each new customer ;)
    Reminds me of OneBigSwitch!

Must be very fat retail margins to support $150 off for each new customer.

Free electricity for a couple of mates?
Sign on - then drop off when your $75 is used up.

  • I've been with these guys for over a month and love them.

Big fan of seeing daily usage and being engaged

    Added myself to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/powershop_referral_links cheers

  • FYI - Powershop is now live in NSW.

  • Offer extended - T&Cs now say "To receive the $75 account credit you need to join via this page on or before 31 December 2015."
