[VIC, NSW, QLD, SA] $38 Electricity Credit in Oct for $30, $42 Credit in Nov for $30 @ Powershop

240

Details screenshot here

Great monthly offer again for this freezing winter. 👍

➡️ Basically you prepaid $30 by 30 Sep for $38 worth of credit for your first bill issued on/after 1 Oct 2025, and prepaid $30 by 30 Sep for $42 worth of credit for your first bill issued on/after 1 Nov 2025.
(If you've purchased the now expired deal last month, plus this current deal, you would have saved $15+$8=$23 in total for your Oct bill!)

➡️ I also received a $40 Electricity Credit for $20 powerpack on my Anniversary month with them.

➡️ You may use your federal gov rebate or whatever credit you have to purchase, which means you don't even need to pay an extra cent.

➡️ For those who are new to Powershop, consider this $200+$100 sign up bonus credit deal.

➡️ Also you may stack with a $75 referral credit.
Their sign up bonus may not apply to the cheapest plan available to you, but you may call them and change your plan as soon as you get the bonus, which is pretty much on day 1 or day 2.

➡️ If you forget to apply your referral code, don't worry, just give them a call. Their CS is really friendly and helpful. Your referrer may also need to call them, just a confirmation of details, won't take long.

➡️ After your purchase, the app shows "$30 available from 1 Oct". Don't worry, you will see the full amount of credit on your Sep bill.
It's a bit confusing but it's just how their app is poorly designed. You will find all the details on your bill.

🔴Some people complain about their price hike. It really depends on your region.
Did you call them and check if they have a better offer for you?
In my case, they email me saying they will hike my usage price by 15% and daily supply charge by 7% on 1 Aug.
but when I called them, they offered me a plan with NO INCREASE in daily supply charge and only a 1.3% increase in usage.
After taking account all these free powerpacks credit promo, they are definitely the cheapest electricity provider in my area according to Government comparison website.
Give them a call every 6 months or so to check whether you are on their best offer. You get nothing if you don't ask.

Less than previous offers, and just after they put their rates up significantly for me. Probably time to move

    • If you're with them long enough, you will find their monthly offer is always sweeter in winter than in summer. It's just because people generally consume more energy in winter for heater and hot water than in summer.

The rationale behind is similar to give a $10 discount to $100 spend but only a $5 discount to $50 spend. It's still 10% off.

      Rates up is irrelevant here.

        Yo Asuka Street, RE:

        'Rates up is irrelevant here.'

Rates going up is never irrelevant.

You are also treading a bit of a thin line by essentially encouraging OzBers to PM you for your referral code, rather than using the 'random OzBer' one. I never 'report' anyone who contributes here because I do not believe in that sort of stuff, but just be aware that someone might report you for advocating the use your personal referral code.

        Happy trails.

        • Rates going up is never irrelevant.

What I'm saying is their offer is always sweeter in winter than in summer every year.
The fact that it's sweeter in winter is irrelevant to the fact that their rates go up a lot in your area.

Also whether their rates go up a lot, or only go up for 1.3% like me, everyone receive the same monthly offer.
If they are no longer the cheapest for you, you should switch away.

rather than using the 'random OzBer' one.

It's really sad that you read it that way. The OZB one is there to help people to get bonus during sign up. It's a different process when you have already signed up but later realise that you've forget to use it.
Perhaps we should not talk too loud on this in the public, I am afraid they will close the door some day and that's harmful to everyone.

I am sharing their monthly offer because it's genuinely a good deal. Every 6 months I input the prices from different retailers into my Excel file and compare my electricity, gas and NBN plans, then switch for a cheaper one.
With their monthly free credit offer, my power bill with Powershop is 10%-15% cheaper than other retailers after the August 2025 price hike.

@AsukaST: You also said you "have been enjoying free power for months"?

Buying credits is not free power.

            • @HappyPants:

You may use your federal gov rebate to purchase.

Everyone receives $75 installments in mid-August 2024, and on
              1 October 2024
              13 January 2025
              1 April 2025
1 July 2025 (energy bill relief extension)
1 October 2025 (energy bill relief extension).

Buying credits with gov rebates maximise free power I enjoyed to around $100/installment.

  • Seems like they didn’t charge the saved card, so next month’s bill will just be $8 less, yeah?

  • Might be a silly question but why is it when I purchase the "October $8 Credit" pack, it adds it to my September prepurchased amount on the Power Organiser calendar?
Is it because my billing period is 3 Sep - 2 Oct so technically it will get applied in that bill?

Same for when I puchase the November pack, it adds it to my October prepurchased power on the calendar.

    • +1

That's right. Because it applys in the first bill issued on/after 1 Oct, which covers your Sep usage.

      • Asking the expert! I'm currently with Powershop having signed up a month ago with the $200 bonus. Thanks for the update on Powerpacks. I will probably be moving house within the next 12 months and will still have credit. I understand I can take the credit with me when I move, or have it refunded. Would it be smarter to get a refund, then sign up at the new address for the $200 bonus again?

In the T&C of sign up bonus:

To be eligible to receive the $200 (incl. GST) credit (Sign-up Credit):
you must be ….. or an existing Powershop residential customer moving to a new premises where Powershop will continues to sell you electricity, and…

          check for more details here.
          https://www.powershop.com.au/customer-terms-and-conditions/e…
You may be able to bring your left over credit with you to your new account, try give them a call and negotiate with them politely.

          • @AsukaST: Thanks! Good to have options.

            • @Sweet3st: I switched out and had bought a power pack for September. The cost was deducted from my $200 sign up credit. Powershop will not deduct it from my final bill issued in August or refund the $30. My final bill after all charges and remaining credits, etc was about $150.

Note - this is not what I was told when considering a switch, Sneaky.

Another minor saving for those that have an ING transaction account (and do the hoops for bonus interest)
Buy powerpacks and pay later with BPAY - using your ING account
Get 1% cashback (so 30c in this scenario)

If you also use ING to pay your elec bill using BPAY you get 1% back

  • So I have some pre-purchased October packs. If i leave powershop before these October packs are used, will they be refunded? Mind you these have been purchased using the $200 credit + $75 government credit one gets…

    • i believe so, from my Googling. I'm hoping to convert all of my signup bonus to packs so I can get refund if I leave.

    • Just been through this and have refused to deduct September powerpack paid with $200 credit from final account issued in August. I was not informed about this when I asked in early August.

Note this is what they said but I don’t understand it lol -

“ Thank you for your query.

Yes, if you purchased the packs using your preferred payment method, any applicable credit will be applied to your final bills.

However, if future packs are purchased using promotional credit, the value of that credit will be refunded back to your account as a credit, but it will not be applied to your final bill.

If you’d like to discuss this further, please feel free to call us on 1800 462 668 and speak with one of our team members.”.

      • Alright, so you used your signup credit to purchase Sep powerpack.
But you left early in Aug, so they refunded the cost of Sep powerpack back to your signup credit.

The Sep powerpack only applies to your first bill issued on or after 1 Sep, but you asked for a final bill to be issued in Aug.
I can't see they have done anything wrong here
Your sign up credit is still applied in your final bill, just no more Sep powerpack extra freebie.
August is August, September is September. It's just that simple. 😂
Sorry about that but you should have waited until 1 Sep and ask for your final bill after that.🙈

        • When I bought powerpacks Powershop used my sign up credit, I didn’t elect to.

They haven’t credited it back or the welcome credit I purchased, both only effective from 1/9. My account shows they were refunded but my final bill didn’t show the credits and not deducted since.

I am not after the extra credit you get and only the cost of $50 that came from my sign up credit.

If I didn’t call first and get told the purchase amounts would be credits then I would have stayed longer.

Note - I have now seen refund conditions and it appears you could lose the cost of future powerpacks if you cancel within 60 days of signing up. I was only with them for 54 days. This wasn’t mentioned when I called.

@chrisharry53: Final response AsukaST. And I do know my months 🤣

            Thank you for your email.
Apologies for the confusion. I have applied the missed $50 promotional credit against the owing amount.
The remaining final owing is now $99.56.
            Kind regards,
            Xxxxxxx Supervisor

  • How often can you churn powerhop?

Dont they already store your account details from previously?

  • I just sign in PowerShop, new here. Why in my account when I click in SHOP, I can only choose TOP-UP, there is no Future Pack option there.

    • I guess you'll have to wait for your electricity connected with them first.

      • Connected already. I got my electricity first bill. In regarding Gas, I received an email a week before confirmed that my switch to Powershop was finalised.

        • When you login the app, make sure you have selected your electricity account.
It won't show up if you are viewing your gas account.
If there is still nothing, I guess you will have to call them for help and reset, maybe just some IT bug.
Sorry that I couldn't help much.
