ASICS Kayano 21 $189.99 +P/H on COTD - Various Colours

70

Been looking for these new Kayano 21 series shoes at a good price. This is a pretty good price. Look around for various colours. The offer has been on there for a while and probably will be for a bit longer while they still have stock.

  • Cheap!

  • I bought a pair from Asics store (paid $250) and two from COTD and I can confirm that they are genuine.
One thing to note though, my feet get very hot after 4-5k running.

How do they hold up for you?.. I want to like this shoe but they disintegrate a little too easily for me. The moment my foot entered the shoe the foam padding started to peel away. After 6 months the shoe was bin worthy.

      • Yes, I think these shoes are not built to last more than a year for a regular runner. But it's hard to find a pair of running shoes that last more than 1.5 years anyways. Mine is about 3 months old but the padding hasn't peeled away though and I run about 8-10k each week

      • Mine last about 6 months running too.

      • Kayano's are a top of the line Asics Stability shoe. Suits most runners. Most people pronate, so can't do much better than this.
I need a motion control shoe. So while I own Kayano's, they aren't the best shoe for me. So you may be like me & need something different.
Always rotate your shoes for best performance & life.

        • So what motion control shoe do you use?

        • @aaam: Podiatrist recommended Brooks Beast, I got the New Balance 1122. Use Brooks Addiction as well.

        • @Psychd: Do you have a narrow foot?

        • @Psychd: thanks. i've been using beasts for the last 10 years - but have just switched to the mizuno wave paradox - much lighter than the beast, and great support.

  • no 2E size

    • How you can tell the width on the COTD site?

      • you can't. that's why I assume there's no 2E, only plain size

        • TY

      • says "standard width" in the item details. which is D for men and B for women.

        • Thanks - looked twice and missed that both times.

  • No deal for me, $176 everyday here, COTD should be able to produce cheaper prices than suburban sports store.

Had different versions of Kayano and it seems that the later version disintegrates quicker then the older version.

And, I do not even run in them - they are my casual walking shoes.

Went to the ASICs flagship store and they recommended the Nimbus. Lots more comfortable, cheaper and lot more robust.

    Just saying.

For those with flat feet (overpronation), avoid the Nimbus.

My understanding is the GT 2000 may provide better stability and be longer lasting than the Kayano (but no mens on COTD).

      • sorry I forgot in my post that I have high arches - from running free over sand, hill and dale before being restricted :o)

  • Picked up a pair of these for $180 from Amart Sports at Capalaba (Brisbane) around 3 weeks ago.

Great shoes but I think they are overpriced at a RRP of $240-250.

  • COTD have sold these Kayanos for much less. just wait until around when the next generation arrives.

My GK20 is 10months old and has 710+ running kms on them, including training for and during last year's Melb Marathon. They're still in great shape. I only wear them to run in though, with minimal casual walking. I thought I would have had to replace them at the 500km mark, but I can't justify it as they're perfectly fine. Just though I'd add this comment regarding my experience with the durability of this shoe.

    • I have similar experience. I have 20's and done a lot of k's with no visible wear. Only use them for running and have other shoes for gym and day to day usage.

I have also been looking for these. Been on sale at COTD for a week or two. I can't find a better price. Just can't decide on a colour.
