OP's comment is a little misleading, these are not good for "exercises in general". They purposely have almost no cushioning underfoot for the purpose of stability, not comfort. They're for weight lifting not walking, running, aerobics, etc.
Metcon Free I think have a bit more cushioning to them compared with the ones not marked "Free" I believe. They're comfortable enough to walk to and from the gym or even go get to an eatery for a bite afterwards. But like you said it's more focused on stability so definitely not for distance running or race walking or anything.
Also true that exercise in general is a bit vague as hell even running shoes now days are so specialised with the midsoles and stack height that you risk either destroying the midsoles or rolling your ankles if you try doing anything other than run and walk in them.

thanks you saved me a bad purchase. im cancelling my order, didn't realise free was a different thing, i wanted to replace my aging metcon 3 pair that have served me well all these years (bought in 2017 just checked!!). OP - wish you had pointed out free was something else, i hate you.. lol
I wanted these to replace my "does it all" nike free train Instinct" but sadly these dont meet the usual 'free' expectations.
If this is their new idea of what a 'free' shoe is, theyve ruined their lineup. Kevin Harts version still reigns supreme.
