Bosston 8 Port PowerBoard Surge Protector

34

About $39 delivered. I have done a search on the Bosston brand but no success. Not sure how good this board is. Any ideas?

  • Fairly cheap for a surge protected board i guess

Something to keep in mind is that this power board seems to offer no insurance for protected devices which is what you are paying for when you buy more expensive surge protected power boards.

After reading someone elses suggestion on another website all i do now is just buy a single outlet surge protector and plug a power board into it.
Always works out cheaper than buying a fancy all in one power board.

    Urgh…Another rebranding.

Firstly, $39 is not a special price for this product.
Secondly, this looks like merely a rebranding of the Arista surge protector powerboards COTD (and other stores I've found) used to sell for the same price or lower. However, Arista offered $150,000 (?) "insurance" with these powerboards. If they've rebranded it and removed the insurance, I'd be suspicious about the implications regarding the item's quality.

    • I agree with imh86 - this is identical in picture to the Arista surge protected powerboard I purchased from COTD 2 weeks ago but you do not get the $150,000 insurance that the Arista branded board offered. Begs the questions - why is it rebranded, why no insurance - most obvious answer, lower quality.

  • doesnt sound like a bargain to me. Not everything on catchoftheday is. Nothing to compare this with.

Here's one from another site, no individual switches - but 144,000 AMPS and 3,444 joules protection.

$26.95 for white and $28.95 for black. $6.95 for delivery.

    • Plus Cabac is a known brand that has been around for years and have good quality products. I have one of these myself.

      • Agreed, the Cabac units are better and cheaper.

  • isn't it a good price for a 8 power point powerboard with individual switches ?
i do not really care about power protection.

    • i do not really care about power protection.

Fair enough, since the electricity supply in Australia—though I can only personally speak for Melbourne—is quite clean.

I would say this is only a decent price, just not a great price.

  • reminder: store and price in title :)

  • cotd crap

  • Yeah looks identical to my arista one from COTD.
I get problems with the signal on my TV when the dvd player is plugged and turned on, (using the aerial ports on the power-board obviously), when the dvd player is not turned on, the signal is fine.
Kinda strange..but yeah 150,000 is fairly decent.
