Fujitsu Air Con Cashback $150/ $200/ $400

110

The annual Fujitsu air-con cashback started today.

$150 cashback on 3.5kw and UNDER,
$200 cashback on OVER 3.5kw,
$400 cashback on Multi Splits and Ducted

This year the cashback is for reverse cycle only (not cooling only models)

Fujitsu will send you a pre-paid Visa. You can then go straight to an ATM and withdraw the cash (and then dump the card). I did this last year.

I went into TGG yesterday and they were selling a Fujitsu 2.5kw reverse cycle for $819 ($669 after cashback). That is a North QLD price so they may be even cheaper in capital cities.

  • fantastic, was going to get two fujitsu a/c's for my mum this month

  • Fujitsu aircons any good?

At the risk of starting a 'Ford vs Holden' or 'Mac vs PC' war…I have been told by numerous installers that Fujitsu are 'top of the middle range' air cons. We bought 2 Fujitsu air cons (for bedrooms) last year and they are running great - knock on wood. They are running the new r32 gas and chew about half the electricity of our older Fujitsus (running 410a gas). The full 5 year warranty is also great (though most companies are doing this now)

      • i grabbed 2 units from the similar cash back promo last year around OCT. Was running great during summer but towards the end of the last couple of weeks if the temp was set 23degrees above there is a very bad mold smells occurs not to sure yet but based on online digging may be something to do with either humidity buildup or could be the compressor.

glad it comes with warranty, but only after a few weeks of use from new and its running on the r32 gas this occurs.!!

        • Have you tried cleaning the air filter, just use a vacuum and soapy water. Does the trick

    • I have a Fujitsu and a Samsung. Fujitsu so much better. Quiet, powerful and looks better too.

  • does TGG provide install? and how much is it?

    • A friend got his installed for $600 from TGG. It was a small one for hos bedroom.

      • Yeah…$600 for a basic install is about right. I have seen people advertise at $500 in winter - probably due to less demand at this time of the year

  • Just be careful, their service department sucks. My August 2013 installed $10k R/C system blew a control board early jan 2015 - Despite the Fujitsu Perth Service Centre finally getting a replacement board after 2 weeks, it took another 2 weeks to get the 5 minute replacement completed. 4 weeks without aircon mid summer - the service dept would not even answer my calls - Head Office said its unusually hot in Perth !!!! I said "strange that - its summer". Like I said, just a word of warning.

I live in a rental property and there is no aircon whatsoever. It is like hell when the mercury hits 40 here in Melbourne. Buying the aircon itself is not a problem but spending another $600 to get it install in the property that is not yours is such a waste, especially when your contract is over (the maximum you can do upon leaving is to take the aircon with you but there is no way to recover the installation cost). Anyone has experience dealing in this situation with the landlord, like what share is appropriate and whether the rent is likely to increase if I insist/push/pressure the landlord to do so?

      Just buy a portable aircon

      • Does it work?

Never as good as split and noisier but better than fan for sure. Just enough for a small room though.

        • @wtfnodeal: Thanks mate

      Rent elsewhere.

      • I was looking into that alternative but having looked at prices around the area, I realised that we are having a pretty good, below average rent given the house the area so moving is not an option and indeed, it may cost more to move

Depends on a few things mate; how long are you likely to stay there? Would you stay longer if there was aircon installed? What's your rent like for the area that you're living in?

Eg, I found out my neighbours on one side with an almost identical apartment were paying about $20 a week less than I was and had aircon both upstairs and down, while I had only downstairs. The rent for my area was average. When it came time to renew the lease I asked the agent to have aircon installed and drop the rent $20 (assuming they would meet me part way). They got pricing on aircon and decided not to go with it, but dropped the rent $20 and said if I looked into paying for the aircon they might split the price & install.

      Saving $20 a week x 52 weeks = $1040 saving… if I then contribute $600 of that towards a $600 unit + $600 install… I would say I've won out regardless of the fact I can't take it with me when I move out…

      • We have no plan to move out in the near future but the landlord may kick us out sooner than expected. We are paying a quite cheap, below average rent given the condition of the house and the area. So it is quite hard for me to talk to them but I will try anyway. The common share is 50/50 right?

I only got mine because a housemate I rent a room to wanted air con in his room. I figured it doesn't make sense getting it in a minor bedroom and not the master, so I decided to get it in all three bedrooms. I covered the cost, but he agreed to pay $10 more per week. I'm happy because I can claim some of it on tax, and it adds to the value of the house. The $10 per week from two housemates (once the other room is rented again) will help pay it off eventually.

I would discuss with the landlord. As kudoz83 said, see if you can split the cost 50/50. The landlord will be getting a new air-con which makes the property more attractive for future tenants and will only have to pay 50%. If I was the landlord (and could afford it) I would take you up on the offer.
The cost to get a new tenant (lost rent when vacant, cost of property manager to do the change) might work out to be about the same to them.

  • LOL, just checked Kambos online. Before $150 cash back promo started was $670. After $150 promo begins price is now $849. So best to wait for cash back promo to finish before you buy.

  • I bought three yesterday for $1038 each installed after cash back. Retravision had 15% of everything excluding fully installed aircons, but the code applied online anyway.

  • Description is not correct:
$150 cashback on 3.5kw and UNDER,
$200 cashback on 3.5kw and OVER,

3.5kW falls into both categories but it is $150 cashback, not $200.

It should be "$200 cashback on over 3.5kW".

    • Thanks…Just fixed it up
