  • Can Anyone give a review if these are worth it? in the market for a cheap tablet. Also can flash lollypop to it?

  • +2

Could you work a deal for the Air II?
There seem to be minute differences.

    • Not at this stage unfortunately, but maybe sometime in the near future.

    • NCNIFDRI

That code took $12.35aud off the Air II dual OS.
Doesn't work for the Air II windows 8 only version.

    • +1

That comparison video is based on the older, non-dual boot BIOS release. I can confirm that those problems are no longer there. I have just checked on my Teclast X98 3G (current) and it is running Windows @ 60Hz, and the camera is not upside down.
Some of the comments of that video also confirm that the problems are no longer relevant and suggest to the video uploader that he needs to update the video title.

      • Yeah i only recently purchased an air ii because of that video, then realised via xda forums that problems already solved. Not that i would use GPS, 3g could come in handy if i ever got rich and another sim though.

Order not shipped. Will see if any way to change it

      • If it's the "hendrickson" on on YouTube, then he has revisited it.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmaLKDaJeWg

All in all, he still uses it more than his Suface lol, and rates it well, but notes that there is a 64 gig unit available, and recommends hanging out for that. In that regard, I'm stuck till I can be assured it'd work on my hoverboard…

Air 2 blasts this thing out of the water that said $200 this thing makes the iPad look like a joke

    • This is the same as the Air II, but with 3G and GPS.

      • +1

I think he means iPad Air 2.

        • You're right. I always forget they released an Air 2.

        • @Clear: Comparing a $700 tablet to this is pretty stupid.

        • @holden93: Yup. It's like first time Android users getting a <$100 handset from Coles and saying it's crap compared to an iPhone.

        • @Clear: I'd personally see these to be more than iPad in terms of productivity; It runs full Windows. Grab a bluetooth keyboard and a mouse and you get a netbook like that. Also, don't these come with Office 365?

Certainly, in terms of content consumption, like watching a movie or web browsing, Windows tablet do need more apps and PC like environment backfires (I still say you need a proper stylus and/or a mouse for browsing stuff on your Windows tablet, if you want to utilise it to its full potential). Android tablets and iPad beat Windows tablet easily in terms of how easy it is to get an app or do typical tablet stuff.

  • What 3G freqs does it work on?

Also: Any chance of a little bit more of a discount. It is slightly cheaper here, but I'd prefer to buy from someone who is more active on ozbargain.

    • +1

It's not 3G,that's why bit cheaper.

    • +1

      It supports WCDMA 2100MHz.

As viki8702 stated, that's the Air II that does not feature 3G/GPS and that's why it's cheaper. When I originally proposed this deal it was at $207.99, but I managed to get it reduced.

      • +1

        Thanks!

    • What 3G freqs does it work on?

900/2100 are the ones I found, so it looks like my Amaysim park'n'hold may get a workout if I get one.

  • Got a relative of this (the x98 Air), as a windows 8 only tablet. Been quite impressed with it. Surprisingly responsive, very very good screen. Build quality is good (not quite apple standard).
Using mine mostly for ebooks and the occasional video as well. It takes a micro SD card and i have a 64GB sitting in there at the moment.
The only regret i have is that i would have preferred to get this model with Android/Win 8 and 3G.

  • Just a headsup Geekbuying are extremely slow with shipping. My last order still hasnt been fulfilled - it has been a month, and theyre ignoring emails

    • Free shipping can typically take between 2-4 weeks and holidays can be a major factor. It took nearly 4 weeks after processing for me to receive a package I ordered just before China New Year to reach Tas. Geekbuying was also closed from the 15/02 to 25/02, because of CNY. We'd make them go faster if we could, but unfortunately it's no longer in our control once they get it.

What is your order number? I can find out what's going for you.

      • Hi clear,

I recently ordered air ii. Order 3281026 it has not shipped yet. Is there a way to change order

        • On the top right hand side of the website is a Live Chat button. They should be able to help you change your order. Let me know if you have any issues,

        • @Clear:

          Thanks they sorted it!

  • +1

OP any 8inch / 8.4 inch tablets on sale with dual boot? or single boot?

    • The Onda V820W Dual OS is still on sale from my previous deal.

      • Taking the screen size and 3g capacity out of the equation, what is a better unit in your opinion?

        • Teclast x80h, Onda V820 and Chuwi Vi8 have very few differences between their hardware. The Teclast is apparently very good too, with a slightly bigger battery than the Onda. I personally own the Chuwi vi8 and find it to very good, but the mono speakers would probably be the only downside compared to the Teclast.

It's a hard choice, but the Teclast one seems to be more popular.

      • Do you have the telecast x80h for that price ? Seems identical but I like the look of the telcast more

        • Not at this stage unfortunately.

  • Its about the same price as banggood or aliexpress

    • I just checked and found them to be $20+ more expensive. Are you sure you're not looking at the Air II or a Windows-only version?

  • Thanks OP. Does anybody know how much space is left over of the 32gb? There's a 64gb version of the x98 which I'm considering as well.

  • [serious] anyone know what the odds of getting sims 3/4 on this or the ondav820w are? trying to get my partner off my pc..

  • Hi Clear, can you do any deals on those mini desktop PCs (a la the Pipo X7)? Looking for one to use as a basic HTPC/NAS media stream receiver.

    • +1

I'd be able to do a $15 off deal on the Voyo Mini PC again and $10 off on the Pipo X7. However the Pipo factory is closed until the 15th so preorders won't be shipped out until after the 25th.

      • hey rep, what is the code for $15 off deal for voyo thx

        • Unfortunately I'm restricted to posting only 2 deals per week, so I don't think I'd be allowed to post them here without making a deal.

      • I would love a $10 off code for the Pipo! I don't mind waiting for it to be shipped.

        • Unfortunately I'm restricted to posting only 2 deals per week, so I don't think I'd be allowed to post them here without making a deal.

        • @Clear: why not just posted it here or added more code in description

        • @Clear: Just give us the code here and then post it as a deal next week :)

          (What a stupid rule, OzBargain…)

        • +2

@xyron: I just confirmed with the moderators that it's okay.

JNESSKVG will get you $10 off the Pipo X7. Coupon expires on March 15th and should be sent to you after the 25th.

        • @andyken: See my reply below to xyron.

        • @Clear: thanks clear, i just realize that it is pre-order and the order wont be shipped until 25th, i will make a hold until close to that date and ordered 1

        • @andyken: No worries. Hopefully the AUD is a lot stronger by then ;)

    Hi OP, some questions:
    1. is this one better than the air II because of GPS only or which one?
    2. Is the office 365 already installed? for 1 year only? can I install office 2013 after 1 yr?
    3. Any recommendation or link to buy bluetooth keyboard and mouse?
    4. If I add the bluetooth keyboard and mouse OR bluetooth keyboard with a holder, do you ship separately even though I select DHL shipping?
how about if i order leather case, micro usb to hdmi cable etc, do you send separately?
    5. How many gb memory available for Windows and Android?
    6. Am I able to reset the Windows and Android back to the original?

    Thanks for your help.

    • +2
      1. This is better than the Air II, because it has inbuilt 3G and GPS, besides that everything else is the same.
      2. Office 365 is installed and will be active when you first turn it on and connect to wifi.
      3. Any bluetooth keyboard or mouse would work. Could even use a usb device with the usb otg. There are quite a lot of universal ones on Geekbuying like this for example that should help you out.
      4. I've asked the staff and will get back to you.
5.Roughly 10GB for Windows and 7GB for Android.
      5. Android can be factory reset. I'll have to find out about the Windows, but I know you can definitely delete user accounts, uninstall software etc.

      I hope this helps.

EDIT: In regards to 4. Any items that are not included with the Teclast will be shipped separately with DHL.

      • Thanks.
        Just double check.

The screen protector and leather case shows for Air II, are they fit to this device X98 only and the price seems more expensive for the screen protector but cheaper for leather.

screen protector teclast x98 USD $1.09
        screenprotector

        leather protection

Any special price or more discount if i buy all of the add on item cart on the website list?

Disappointing that the accessories will send separately if send via DHL because it may take a while for the accessories to arrive.

        please let me know. thanks

        • The screen protector and leather case will fit both the Air II and 3G.

I'm assuming you're talking about the tickboxes underneath where you can select items? I'd tick the leather holster and then go onto the page for the screen protector and add that to the cart.

        • @Clear:
Any further discount if I take all of them?

        • @surat: Unfortunately I can't get it reduced any further with the accessories included.

  • Thanks OP bought one last night and choosed DHL for shipping, so hope I'll get it soon.

  • Hi OP when u went to buy this I noted that the dhl shipping option was free. Can you confirm that thus is true please.

    • Unusual. DHL is normally around $6 instead of being free. Is this just in your cart or when you go to checkout?

      • I think it may be free if you buy more than 1 tablet (must be once it hits a certain price threshold it becomes free).

        • You could be right. The final shipping is calculated at Step 3 anyway. The purchase can be cancelled at that stage too.

  • Hi Op. Thanks for following through on this deal from your previous post.

I purchased for USD 209.60 (USD 203.99 + 5.61 DHL shipping). I paid via PayPal and it came to AUD 268.77 (I used my Mastercard's exchange rate instead of PayPal's which works out to be better).

Now I need to find a decent bluetooth keyboard (with a stand) for the tablet. These ones seems okay:

  • Does anyone know if ipad air cases fit this? I'm thinking ones that just clip around it will, but there are some that clip on using magnets or something. Presuming x98 won't work with these

    • +1

From what I've seen online the iPad Air smart cases with magnets do not work unfortunately.

      • Thanks, didn't think so either. Just got an x98 case. Woot my order has shipped!

  • I put an order in previously for the Onda V820W and have sent an email to change the order to this, but I haven't received a response in more than 4 days. Sent another one today but I'm sorta worried that they'll end up sending the order without changing it/seeing the email.

Can't seem to get livechat to work either think I'm missing some plugins or something. Idled on the live chat page for a few hours without anything happening.

Is it possible to check on my behalf? My order number is 3279902. Thanks if you can.

    • +1

I've just passed it on and I'll let you know once I hear back.

    • +1

Alright, the customer service team are going to respond to your email tonight.

      • +1

Yep, I just received their response and have sorted it all out.

        I appreciate your prompt help!

  • Hi Op. Thanks for posting. Can you offer a similar deal for the 64GB model given the limited free space of the 32GB model after installing windows and office 365. Thanks

    • Currently we do not stock the 64GB version.

  • Hi Op .. The link is for $219.99 .. Am I missing something … I read the comments but don't see code to reduce to $204…

    • No worries … All sorted !!

  • Rep, I order a unit with one of 3(1Micro USB,2USB 2.0) in 1 Micro USB OTG Hub Host. The order arrived very quickly via DHL but missing the OTG cable. My order number is: 3283794

Can you help to see what is going on?

    Thanks.

  • Hi, just wondering if anyone's orders have shipped yet?
My order has been stuck on "Payment Received - processing" for a week now.

    • I did however I choose to pay extra with DHL, order on 2/3 received on 7/3 via DHL. It did stuck on order processing overnight then changed to shipped.

    • Same - I put my order in on 5 March and it is still "processing."

I chose DHL shipping as well (Order #3285071).

      • +1

I ordered on the 4th. Been told it will ship on the 16th as they are awaiting stock.
Very disappointing seeing that the site said it was in stock at time of order (and still says adequate stock).

Try contacting Clear (OP) as he was very friendly/helpful chasing it up for me.

        • Hi Barong - just wondering if yours has been shipped yet?

        • @bargainhunt21: They order stock when the current level is low and the new batch normally arrives before the remainder is out of stock. However in this case the next batch got caught up in customs, so it will be shipped out next week.

        • @bargainhunt21:
I was told it was to ship out on Monday the 16th. That passed and it didn't ship. I contacted Geekbuying via online chat and they couldn't confirm a new shipping date. They offered to cancel the order and provide a refund, so I took it.

  • any one here have experience dealing with this company? I send them an email about missing item more than 24 hours ago and nobody reply. I am getting worry with my purchase guaranty. If the support is like this.

    Thanks

    • Update: Been told via Live Chat they send it via snail mail separately and will take 3 to 4 weeks. Must be dropship thingy

  • Hi! Just noticed you guys now have the 64gb version!

    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Teclast-X98-Air-3G-Dual-OS-In…

Any chance you can activate the coupon for that as well? Something like -$20USD? :D

    • I will ask, but I probably won't hear back until Monday.

      • Thank you. Hoping it will be approx $20USD cheaper than this:

Teclast X98 Air 3G Dual Boot 64gb for $241.57USD with DHL shipping

I'm actually more interested in Air II 64gb, can you also check if geekbuying will be selling it?

      • Hi Rep,

        Any update on this?

  • Hi Rep,
I've ordered on March 5th (order no. 3284923) and the status is still 'payment received - processing'. Tried sending emails asking on March 17th and 18th, no response at all. Can you help me chase it up?

    • Sorry I don't get notified when comments are posted here. Could you please send me your order number?

    • Get on to paypal or your card company NOW and do whatever you can to effect a chargeback. I've just been robbed for a Cube Talk tablet and another order. I propose a permaban for @Clear and geekbuying from ozbargain.

      See: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/185999#comment-2661258

    • @bargainbargain2,
I'm not able to pm you so I figured I should just comment.
      What actually eventuated from this?
Is the processing just part of the shipping time as a whole, or was there really a 16 day delay? Also has there really been no correspondence whatsoever, did you try their other lines of contact like the livechat/phone? It's still no excuse for such a long delay, but sometimes mistakes can happen I guess.

      TLDR;
Has the status of your order changed, if so, is the processing time inclusive of the overall shipping time if not are you having to do a claimback via pp, and did they ever end up contacting you?

      • He hasn't been on since the 1st and hasn't got back to me. I pass the order numbers onto the GB staff directly, so I can normally find out exactly what is happening.
