Bought Jewellery at Thomas Jewelers, and Then Realized The Same Item Is Cheaper on Their Website

I bought a pair of earrings for my girlfriend yesterday at Thomas Jewelers in the city, $499, I thought I had a good deal bargaining them down to $400 but I checked their website when I got home and the exact same item is $349 online:

Can I go back to the shop and ask for the difference? Do I have to return the earrings and re-order them online? Now I've given them, I can't really take them back but I feel a bit shafted…

Do you reckon it is worth going back to the shop?

    Being earrings I hope their and anyone elses refund policy is NO.

    I do hope they refund the difference though.

    Lots of brick and mortar stores/franchises have higher in store pricing than online pricing, as you pay for the extra overhead and personalized service you get in the store. So there being a price difference is not an unusual thing. Thomas Jewellers appear to have done nothing wrong, pity OP didn't check around for pricing before he purchased.

    Ok I went down there and explained my request to one staff member, she started saying that if I had bought online I would have had to pay for the shipping costs, which would have been less than $50 anyway, but she asked her manager who said she was happy to give me a voucher for whatever difference there was.

    Although I would have preferred real money, I agreed and appreciate their attitude

    bit late to the thread, but some credit cards have a price guarantee feature (if you paid by CC) where the bank refunds the difference
