    Very bad drop for cheap.

I Agree. I wouldn't drink it even for free.
I would rather buy this https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_380517/label-5-clas… which has a very similar taste to Black label. It has a 4 out of 5 star reviews.

Similar taste to black label? It costs 25% more than the deal posted here and actually IS the same price I last paid for Johnny Walker Black Label.

        • -1

Price difference on all three Products discussed here is around $6. What I meant was I would spent extra $6 to get Label 5 which sells for $34.99 than spending $14 to upgrade Red Label to Black Label.

          @ashikk:
Label 5 is the worst tripe I have ever tried. Each to their own.

        • yes I am surprised how much they push Label 5, it is Dans Home brand Whisky!

      • I agree too, get the Dewars White Label both give you a headache but at least one is drinkable. Around $30 to $35.

Good for when I'm in the mood to drink my scotch with Coke or Ginger Ale. Nice cheapie to have in the pantry for such occasions… Thanks!! :-)

Where is the free shipping code?

I think it is a great deal at $28. Thanks OP.

    Great price!

If you want to buy 3 bottles you can get it from Woolies for $80 which works out at $26.67 each. Use code SAVE25 at checkout to get $25 off $105. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/185195?page=1#comment

Heads up for any curious local alcos - In Woolworth Online for the ACT, JW Red 700ml is showing up as 2 for 70 and $40 a single bottle. So $110 for 3 - $25 makes it $85 or $28.30 per bottle and more expensive than this deal.

Hi Hetzjagd, I think if you add 3 bottles to your basket it will total $105 as the 3rd bottle is also added at the 2for price. So $80 after $25 discount.

        • Ooop, just tried it and you are right. Thanks for that. I was at work and struggled to remember my login details which delayed me adding it to the cart to check for myself.

  • Yeah this is paint stripper stuff, wouldn't even drink this mixed.
Much better off paying $7 more for a Ballantines white label or the Bailie Nicol Jarvie, or even the Famous Grouse.

Thanks OP just bought one via click and collect, picked it up and because they ran out so they gave me a 1L instead!

    • Which store was that?

      • Sorry was at the gym, it was at the chelsea heights store!

  • yuck

  • Looks like there is at least 42 people on Ozbargain who reckon Johnnie Walker is a good drop?

Red label isn't but the black label is decent

      • It's down to individual taste. I prefer Red to Black. I also like Lagavulin, it is one of the best rated scotches around, and I am thinking that people who don't like JW Red would not appreciate Lagavulin either. Happy to be told otherwise?

        • +3

yes you are correct, individual tastes trumps all….

I remember a friend sneaking it into a school event for us. We all took a sip and decided to throw the rest away.

Surprised no-one told you to Keep Walking.

    • what whiskey do you actually drink?

      • depends on the purpose/intention. if you're going to melt your throat, at least black label?

        • I plan to start from the bottom and work my way up….I have purchased
          1. Jack Daniels
          2. JW Black
          3. JW Double
          4. Glenlivet 12

My next four purchases will be

          1. Dalwhinnie
          2. Glenmorganie 10
          3. Oban
          4. Highland Park 12
        • @obiwan:

Macallan 12 is good and affordable. I don't really drink whiskey that often that I will be willing to put up with fuel just because it is 1/3 the price.

If you are ever tempted to get JW blue, just pass and get a cheaper single malt.
