I actually agree with you on this one jv (first time for everything I guess!), but I'd do recommend using this stuff to make "Black & Tans"; a mixture of beer and stout.

It's a good way of making a cheap tasteless beer (like "Ice 30 Can blocks") taste richer/ more sophisticated. Or to rescue a 'yucky' tasting beer that you may have sitting around but can't quite bring yourself to drink cause it's shite (think "TUN", various Aldi drops, etc.). A 3:1 mix of beer:stout works nicely.

$10 for 6 is OK I suppose, because the cans are 440 mL. So it's $3.79 per litre.

The cheapest you can pretty much ever get beer for these days is about $3.00 per litre (Ice blocks of 30 cans at 2-for-$60,crop up occasionally, etc.).

      • This is sooooo much better

But u gotta pay more. This is ozbargain, not ozfancy :)

        • Erm yeah, but check my maths for me jv; cause I make that stuff out to be almost $9.00 per litre, even if you buy the case of 24. It would want to taste like liquid gold for that sort of money!

        • @mmd:

This is ozbargain, not ozfancy :)

          Buy them on special then…

Just because something is cheap, does not make it a bargain…

        • You can't compare a craft stout (a rather delicious craft stout, even if I do prefer Grand Ridges Moonshine) with a mass produced stout like Guinness.
Its like comparing Tooheys Extra Dry Platinum with Moondog Love Tap Lager. Kinda the same style of beer but miles from each other.

      • This is brilliant. I've recently started stocking the fridge with 'Uberbrau' which is $30 for a 24 pack at First Choice - it's a bland, blonde type of beer but its good for freeloaders who come over to my house to hang out (live in a sharehouse).

Now I can buy a carton of Uberbrau, get a 6 pack of Guinness for $10, and enjoy 3/4 of a carton of 'black & tans' :D

  • Also option to buy 6x crownies golden ale

Yes, but why would you do that to yourself?

  • Fiddly dee!

    • "Fiddly dee!"

Geez la-jism, the correct phrasing is "fiddle-dee-dee"…

If you're gonna impersonate mythical wee green Irish sprites, it's important to get such things right… particularly so close to St Pat's day. Otherwise, they will take offense.

  • One carton of Hammer & Tongs will do the job nicely to qualify.

  • You can actually get a similar deal at BWS with only spending $29. It was previously advertised as a 4 pack but it is now a 6 pack.

  • our local Dan Murphys copied this same deal….they should have since I went to 1st choice 2x just to avail of this $10 deal

  • Still on? Mark expired if not
