BNE-SYD $30, SYD-BNE $30, BNE-CNS $30, CNS-BNE $30, ADL-BNE $60, BNE-ADL $60 @ Tigerair (Jetstar $27)

590

Another great travel bargain! I believe most of these routes have flights from both Jetstar & Tigerair leaving within an hour of each other (bar Adelaide), so price beat is a go. Happy travels :)

All travel dates are in the link.

Sorry, no screenshots this time as I'm posting this from my iPhone while my wife drives us to the cinema for a late night show :)

Has anyone gotten away with paying it with a 28 Degrees Mastercard? How does the system know it's a debit card?

the first six digits of the card determine the type of card, card issuer and country of issue

      • Ahh didn't know that, thanks for enlightening us! :D

    • The leading digits of the card.

    • Plus it has to be done over the phone for this to work.

  • Surprisingly, I need to go to Adelaide too, but Virgin/Jetstar is $400+ pp return. Tiger would start at $120pp return depending on flight times during this deal, and around $210pp return normally.

Given most are more interested in the Jetstar price beat - and a question that's probably been asked a million times…whats the actual problem with Tiger?
Not on-time, cancel flights, bad comfort levels, other? Am I signing myself up for suicide by taking a new mother and newborn (10-12 weeks old) plus luggage/our entire apartment.

Tiger cancelled our flights recently due to weather (not their fault) but couldn't provide an alternative that would enable making my appointment the following day. They offered a flight to a different destination (doesn't work), flight 48 hours later (miss original appointment), some other bogus offer, or flight credit (I don't need to fly again, and would avoid Tiger now anyway).

Tiger flat out refused to provide a refund. Period. No compassion, no compromise. Fortunately I have travel insurance, but getting money out of anyone is never fun. Let the games begin. In short: if you can avoid them, do it.

        I'm sorry, but I lol'ed at this

      • First time flying with Tiger next month. You're making me really nervous…

        • You'll be fine assuming the plane doesn't work/your flight isn't delayed and the weather is fine :)

The only good way to fly with Tiger is not to fly at all?

Never had any issues with them and have flown with them quite a bit.
Jetstar have been much worse, for mine.

Look at it this way. If Jetstar have a mechanical fault, or bad weather causes problems, they probably can put you onto their next flight, usually with a delay of only a few hours, because Jetstar fly most routes several times a day. Also, when difficulties arise, Jetstar have "codeshare partners", which means they can also send you on a different airline, e.g. a booked flight from Brisbane to Cairns could see you moved onto a Japan Airlines plane, if there is one travelling that route and it has spare seats. See http://www.jetstar.com/mediacentre/facts-and-stats/jetstar-n… for codeshare partners.

Look at the Tiger flight schedule for the journey you intend to take. If there's only one plane per day, and there is a problem, you'll be waiting a day (at least) for the next flight. According to Wikipedia, Tiger only has codeshare with Golden Myanmar Airlines, who don't fly into Australia, so no chance of "getting a lift" with them.

      • Japan Airlines fly into Cairns from Brisbane? Hmm…

        • nbn, below, is correct. They can only collect passengers who are flying international.

      • +2

International codeshare won't help. Even if their codeshare fly from BNE and take a stop at CNS, they are not allowed to take any domestic passengers on the same plane. They depart and arrive at international terminals as well. The best Jetstar can do is to put you on a Qantas flight.

        • Oops, you are right. I have seen Qantas and Jetstar code-sharing in action, and mistakenly assumed it extended to the other codeshare partners too.

    • Traveling with an infant usually requires transporting a travel cot, pram, car seat/ capsule

Tiger only gives one of those free. The rest comes out of your paid luggage allowance

We flew virgin over a year ago and all the baby stuff was free.

Tiger, estimated wait time was 59 minutes for Jetstar price match chat.

        • +1

I just did a price match. 17 min wait. Was outside the date listed on here for the first leg, but still reduced down from $250 to $150 return. So thanks TA.
