  • Does it work on stubby holders?

I bought two from the last deal.

    Both mugs have cracked.
I poured hot boiling water to make tea and over time the porcelain cracks and the mug leaks…

I still recommend buying and find it very good for the price, but just be careful and not use boiling water.

Dont use boiling water in a mug…… I now regret my purchase!!! (at least it's only $5)

    • I've got one in front of me now at work that takes a boiling water hit 2-3 times a day. But I will say the print quality on the Big W ones were a bit of a let down - Officeworks one I got previously was a lot better

      • Interesting you mention that. I am about to return a metal print to Big W because the print quality was beyond shocking. The sharpness is such that it looks like around 150dpi. Compared to officeworks metal prints, the quality was a joke. Not sure I ever want to get any photo products from Big W again.

I bought a mug last time. I use it 2-3 times a day (5 days as week) for my instant coffee. I pour boiling hot water into the cup. Still good! The only negative thing I can say about the mug is that it's noisier than usual when I stir with a metal teaspoon.

how many decibels over standard mug stirring noise is it over?

we should inform the council and file a noise complaint

      • +1

It's louder and has a higher pitched 'ding' than my usual cup :)

  • I got one last time. Still going strong and I thought the images were pretty good.

  • Can you put any pictures in the mug? is there rules on what pictures are unacceptable?

    • +1

Haha not sure, I assume it would be OK… depending how bad it is :p I wouldnt go printing any Isis flag or anything. (JOKE)

Planning to print some "jugs" on your mugs?

    • Postage isn't too expensive. It might be worth it to avoid the judging glares of the photo lab staff.

      • They come in a cardboard box. Staff at your local Big W should have no reason to peek in.

  • got two, not expecting much but for $10 who cares

  • Someone get a England Bangladesh cricket score print for the office…

  • what's the perfect size for this? 1.5:1?

Can anyone suggest a HD dimension in pixels for me please.

I arsed about with images for about 3 hours to get decent prints, these are the ones I ended up using:

There was much uploading, recropping / clone fill edge and re-uploading but I'm very happy with the mugs I ended up with for $5 a piece.

      • Excellent stuff

  • Sorry how long does it take before I can go collect it? I just ordered one

    • I think it took a couple of weeks last time I ordered. You will receive an email from Big W advising you that it's ready for pickup.

    • It takes at least 1 week.

    @Cataclysm,

660x312px was what I came down to after several hours of messing about. You could probably double the size to increase the pixel density. Also I found that its best to use CMYK instead of RGB.

The mugs are good enough quality and some of them turned out really well. A couple didn't but this was on me for using RGB.

don't take my measurements as gospel but hopefully they'll get you closer.

    Cheers,

    John.

Just putting togther an order and found that it works for all standard mugs, including the "Standard Mug Whole Image" which usually is $20 ($12 on promo anyway).

Makes fore even better value and if you want to use just one photo you get away with lots less cropping.
