Does anyone else watch the television series Shark Tank? There is a US and an Australian version now AFAIK

It's basically a show where 5 sharks/big successful business men and women sit on a 'panel' and hear out different people's great new big ideas be it a service/item or software products etc and then they all 'bid' or 'haggle' / 'negotiate' their best prices and offers to the pitcher and then we see what happens or unfolds haha.

It is a great show to see what cool new things and ideas people these days are coming up with.

There are a few episodes I believe up on youtube or you can also watch it I think through Amazon but I think for that you have to pay.

Oh wait never mind you can watch it here on either:

http://abc.go.com/shows/shark-tank (if you use some sort of hola or vpn proxy extension etc / American US Version)

http://www.hulu.com/shark-tank (if you use some sort of hola or vpn proxy extension etc / American US Version)

http://tenplay.com.au/channel-TEN/shark-tank/episodes?psearc… (Australian Version)

Some of the US youtube uploads are shitty but meh it will do for now since it is free up on there (for now) haha.

Hope you guys enjoy. I personally loved one of the first ones which was a remake of the traditional esky cooler and turned into a convenient and more portable cricket stand/stump.

Anyways all, let me know what you each think.

  • There is a US version now? There's six seasons! Only the Australian version is new. I much prefer the Canadian version (Dragons' Den).

  • yeah i watch them all

    • shark tank AU
    • Dragons Den CA
    • Dragons Den UK
    • shark tank US

tbh i dislike the Australian ones the most. The ideas are not that good, I can think of a number of critical issues off the top of my head with the cricket cooler

    • Cricket cooler seems to be doing pretty well.

  • +1

Dragons Den UK is by far the best imo. I generally prefer US television to UK but they seem too arrogant and whatnot on the North American versions of the show. DD UK by a country mile.

  • -1

US Version is the best by far. They are so critical of all the contestants and are always trying to outbid or outdo each other. Mr Wonderful and Mark Cuban are the best too. There are some really stupid inventions sometimes and the sharks don't hold back.

Australian version is too kind and friendly. The sharks don't argue and offer reasonable deals making the show bland and boring.

    • Yeah the Aussie version needs a Mr Wonderful

  • What I have been waiting for is the Dragons Den AU follow-up issue.
I still remember a few of the pitches back when DD was on Aussie tv and I would love to know what happened to these nascent businesses - particularly whether the Dragons ended up screwing the original owners.

    • Why don't you just 'google it'? It's fun to watch the old episodes while googling the product/invention/company to see if they're still in business/how much they're selling the product for a couple of years down the track etc.

  • best to worst is probably:

    Dragons Den UK
    Shark Tank US
    Dragons Den CA
    Shark Tank AU

I don't like the debt deals offering in the AU edition, I mean they almost can't lose with those offers.

  • I watch the US Shark Tank every now and then. Lately all they do is just cry and get a deal. I always roll my eyes when they bring up the American Dream. Does the Aus one do this too? Obviously with the Australian Dream.

Apparently a lot of the deals on the show fall through off screen. There's a breakdown of which Sharks are the best in terms of getting the real deal. Cuban is the best while Daymond and Robert are the worst.

  • Does anybody have any tips on how to get hold of downloadable episodes of

Dragons Den (UK) Season 12 ?

I have tried Google etc and it seems that this season 12 hardly has any episodes available for download.

    Thanks a million.

By the way, Dragon Den Ireland is also not bad.

  • I made it through to the final 5 of your Shark Tank, a spin off version of the show for startups. If I win, I'll have enough money to buy eneloops for 20 years.

If you like my idea, you can vote for me here- https://www.facebook.com/sharktankau/photos/a.36097785073304…

    • presumably #yesTOM?

      • Yeah, sorry. Should have specified :-)
