  • Now that'd be a great price if for the RC64 II !??

$500 for a 150W centre speaker? You must think we are very gullible here.

    Check the site name again.

    • Why not?? I'd happily buy my Dali Vokal 120W for the same money any day of the week.

If money is no object, get 5 or 7 of the best speakers you can find.
But good speakers are expensive, and money is an issue or we would not be here.
Centre and rear speakers are used for movies, centre particularly for dialogue.
Better to spend you limited funds on a good amplifier, and front left/right speakers. When listening to the sort of music where fidelity is important, turn off the prologic and just use the stereo speakers.

Anyway, Why it this called a centre speaker? Buy a pair and use them for L/R.
Use your old cheaper stereo speakers for rear, and an odd one for centre. Bargain!

I think the store rep gave you a downvote because he got offended with your comment lol! I agree with you, $ 500 for just a centre speaker is ridiculous! This is OZBargain, not OZSchmucks!!!

Here's my Home Theatre setup: I bought Jamo S426 speakers from Amazon for around AUD$225 including shipping ($ 123 for speakers and $ 100 shipping from USA to AUS for 5 speakers!). I also bought my AV receiver Denon 1713 from Amazon DE for AUD$ 400 and used it to power an SVS Subwoofer PB12 NSD which I bought from DeepHz Audio for $ 900. Total cost around $ 1500 and I've never been happy with the quality and the price. I would recommend people to demo SVS Subwoofers before they purchase a subwoofer. This thing is a monster and very affordable!

      • +1

Well, there's Jamo, and there's Klipsch, and they're different.
What's your point? Cheaper is going to sound better?

      • +2

And for the money those jamo speakers were a very good buy…. but as we can see you spent 900 on your sub… what 900 on a sub. The sub is the best part of your system hands down but it would be unfair to compare it to a 200 sub or even the matching one that goes with your jamos. Im pretty sure if you had a klipch reference system setup in your house for a few weeks it would be hard to go back to the s426's.

      • and I've never been happy with the quality and the price

Well in defense, you spent $900 on a sub that produces about what, 2% of the frequency range.

OzB is for posting the cheapest price of a particular product. Not the best price/performance. Alternatives are always welcome but

On a side note, SVS's cylindrical subs are phenomenal for their price, as good as kilobuck subs from rel. Small footprint too

  • +1

That is a very good price for local stock of the RC62II. You Should be able to haggle for the matching RF62ii's for around 1300-1400, being the front stage well under the 2k mark. Bloody Fantastic.

  • Well i have been looking around for this for ages.even from the states you cant save much money after shipping.

This is for klipsch buyers so comparing to other brands make no difference.

Now have to wait for the matching rf62's floor standing speakers and we are nearly done!

  • I had a Klpisch Subbie, KSW12 which recently died (power supply). I never did like the sound of the Klipsch speakers as such. Too crispy, can i say that!.

  • Yes you can say that and thats why I like Klipsch.I Will be using these for movie theatre.Nice clean crisp sound with a punch.I listen to the wharefdales and they were nice but didnt have that extra that the klipsch had.

In the end there is something for everyone out there , just have to wait for the right price.

COZMO, how do you get 2k speakers(each) for 1400 a pair?

    mixo

P.s do all speaker sales people come across as used car sales people?

    • They are 1999 for a pair. I paid 1299 for mine a few years ago. I imported my RC62ii for around 500… never seen them that cheap locally or being able to import for cheaper since. Seems that they are now going to start to be cleared out for the new reference range. I would avoid the Klipch subs and get an SVS, Seaton Sound, JTR, Paradigm or JL Audio.

  • whats wrong with klipsch subs?

    • Honestly they're just not that good… for what they charge for a reference series sub an SVS kills it. Tighter controlled bass and able to dig deeper.

  • Thanks for the postitive response people! We are down to 3 left. Don't miss out!

  • +1

i forgot to ask how much warranty do these things have.I wont be able to test it till the end of the year!

    mixo

    • Im pretty sure klipsch speakers are 5 years

    • Warranty on the Klipsch Reference RC-62 II is 5 years Australia wide

  • well i hope so. hopefully Jason can answer otherwise have to call them on Monday.

    thanks
