Out of topic, Ebgames has wii u mario 3d world and DK tropical freeze for $57 ea if anyone is interested. It hasnt been updated to their website yet but i saw them in store with the $57 stickers on them.

  • +7

the older model ps vita (this one) is better tbh

    • +1

It is, the screen is OLED whereas the newer model is a standard LCD screen like the ones they use in PSPs. Newer model is slimmer and has extra battery life but that's not worth losing the OLED screen for.

      • +3

I'd prefer the battery life myself, but to each his own.

        • +5

Considering it's only 45 minutes difference I disagree. I'll go with quality build and only 3+1/2 hours or so play time.

        • +1

        • +1

          @Where's_That_Cake:

Personally I think the 'build' of the new model is better, feels like it has better grip and is just light enough. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the new model if I didn't already have a functional original model.

        • @plmko:I thought it felt flimsy in comparison and I dislike that the screen is a separate piece unlike the OLED.

        • +2

the old vita already has fantastic battery life. I left it for a couple of weeks it still had 37%

        • +1

          @Where's_That_Cake:

Each to their own, but there are advantages to separating the screen piece, for instance you don't get that smudgy gloss plastic where the buttons are also allows you to get glass screen protectors (I love me some glass!).

      • IPS LCD has better colour reproduction and better viewing in direct sunlight, so I think it's actually the better screen. The colours don't "pop" with hypersaturation the way they do with OLED though.

    • Although if you're planning on getting one, make sure its the older model as we did stock both the old and newer models before

      • How can you tell them apart? What are the model numbers/etc?

        • -4

          Google it and find out.

        • Google slim vita and OLED Vita for pics of them.

        • -2

@djrussell89: Thanks for a rude, useless comment.

        • +2

          @Scipio: box is different

Vita 1000- pic of front of the console only -$100
Vita 2000- pic of front and back -going around $199-248

        • +2

PS Home, Select and Start buttons.
Oval shaped on old model, circle shaped on new model.

        • @bargin193232222: Thanks mate - appreciated.

        • +3

@Scipio: I wasnt trying to be rude, but why ask a guy on a forum to provide you with information when you can just pull up a google tab and in 30 seconds find your answer? It would be quicker is all.

      • +2

Ignore this comment. The newer model is $50 more so it'll be easy to tell them apart

    • as a vita collector ( i have 5 at the moment ) i usually use the slim model since it gets me through a few days without charge (that's if i'm travelling) at home probably go for the older one.

      • Which screen looks better?

        How long is battery life?

        • +1

the OLED one looks better of course :P i found it to be more sharp + more saturated (deeper colours) maybe a little too over saturated.
the led one is a little more 'natural' (well that's what people call it anyway)
a guy here mentioned it was 45min difference, but i found it to be twice the battery life (OLED clocking at about 3 hours and LED to be around 6)

        • @halfaznpersuasion:

In terms of comfort..is one more comfortable than the other?

Is OLED as good in the sun as LCD? Some screens got too much reflection/glare…

So you recommend I should get the OLED or LCD?

        • @tyler.durden: The OLED is much heavier than the LCD. None of the two will let you play under the sun. OLED one is better in terms of brightness. The biggest issue of the OLED Vita is the screen will definitely has dirty spots issue when playing completely dark environment with black background.
This photo is long exposure http://i.imgur.com/Wpwvr.jpg http://img.psx-sense.nl/images/file/img_4efca375010d3.jpg

I would recommend you to go with the LCD Vita.

You should be hurry if you'd go with the OLED. Someone has listed their Brand new Vita $150 for $250 on Gumtree already :D

        • @thaikhoa:
Those black marks never show up in game though when the screen is being lit up.

        • @thaikhoa:

why does the black mark appear?

        • @tyler.durden: They are a product of the manufacturing process, it doesn't show when the screen is lit up with any kind of proper image.

        • @Where's_That_Cake:

how about if the game has dark environment?

          e.g. a thief game etc…

        • @tyler.durden: Nope, it doesn't show on any in game black screens. It's only on screens where it is backlit with no image showing.

      • +1

Why on earth would you collect Vita? Like seriously…

        • I agree. And even I have two of the first model!

        • I didn't just collect vitas but I enjoy RPGs :3.
Fyi: the hatsune miku vita goes up to 2000 bucks brand new so I think it was a good 300 dollar investment even for just that one

        • -1

          @halfaznpersuasion:
          Nice profit there.

  • can it be hacked, play psp, ps one games etc ?

    • +1

Dunno if you can install homebrew but the Vita can play PSP and PS1 games bought off the PSN.

    • +1

Depends on the firmware. Some of them yes but you will loss access to ps store

  • How much are the PSP's i can see in the right of the photo discounted to?

    • They are $70

    • +1

Man. That is a crazy price. Got it for $20 last month for xbox360. Xbox one shd be expensive.

If anyone's considering getting this or the PS Vita TV … get this. The Vita TV is crap. It barely plays any Vita games, remote play is laggy and support for it (and adding new games) stopped as soon as it was released.

    • +1

Lol, no. Remote play is fine if setup right. It plays lots of games, at least 60-70% of the catalogue. I own two Vita's and a PSTV, both are great though I only really use the PSTV for remote play on my bedroom TV which works flawlessly with zero lag. New games get added every week, publishers need to push updates for the games that are not yet white listed.

Here's a list of hardly any Vita games that work with PSTV.
      http://www.vitaplayer.co.uk/list-of-playstation-tv-compatibl…

      • Look up the reviews which talk about lag with the remote play (IGN, Kotaku, etc). Unless you're running super fast fiber optics through your house its all but useless over WIFI. Trust me; I know, and my PS4 is 15 feet away.

Secondly, have you actually looked at the list of compatible Vita games versus Vita TV? If you had you would know that most of the games you linked have "NO" next to their name lol Games like Uncharted Golden Abyss, Fat Princess, FIFA 15, WipeOut, Ratchet & Clank, Tearaway, LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Resistance… You know, the games people actually want to play. None are supported and most of the unsupported games are from Sony? How do you figure that?

I get your fanboyism, I love Sony myself, but you seriously cant tell people to buy a Vita TV over a Vita when its clearly the better option.

        • +2

Games like Uncharted Golden Abyss, Fat Princess, FIFA 15, WipeOut, Ratchet & Clank, Tearaway, LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Resistance… You know, the games people actually want to play.

I don't want to play any of those games.

        • -1

It's not fanboyism. I'm plenty critical about Sony but Sony also recommended using Ethernet as opposed to Wi-Fi with PSTV since before the PSTV was even released.
I get your incompetence and lack of research before buying a product, don't fun it for everyone else though.

PSTV has to run over Wi-Fi, you have to setup a static route for it or better still (for easiest and best results) bypass your router and go straight from PS4 to network switch to PSTV.

        • +1

Yeah, I was a little disappointed (PSTV) also when certain games (uncharted) I expected to work, didn't. Lag isn't too bad from PS4 via wifi, but bad enough not to play Destiny. Looking to wire it at some point though. It's a nice little unit to travel with though.

  • Some Vita games also for $10 Killzone Mercenary, Minecraft and Tearaway.

  • Doubt their is a huge differnce from the oled and led, you could barley tell.

    • +2

LCD not LED. LCD isn't as vibrant and has a yellow hue to it when shown next to an OLED. Other than that it's fine. You'll only dislike it when compared.

    • +2

OLED vs LCD is a massive difference in all honesty. It's like comparing the Nokia Lumia 530 screen to the Samsung Galaxy S5 screen. Extremely different in dynamics and performance (bar the resolution differences).

  • Scribblenauts Unmasked (Wii U) - $15
    Batman: Arkham Origins (Wii U) - $20

    • Well I managed to get Wonderful 101, so pretty happy with that, also grabbed Lego LotR for $10.

  • Trabsformers $30

saw some bargains, like rocksmith with cable for ps3 $10….

bf4, rivals $10….but i think most of the games on sale are for ps3/360….

didnt even see a lot of vita games…

    • How many copies of Rocksmith did they have? I'm looking for a cable and those things are expensive.

  • Pokemon Typing DS with keyboard - $10

    Anyone seen a WiiU deal?

    • Are you in Brisbane at all?

      • Sure am.

        • I was in The Good Guys at Lutwyche earlier today and they have 3 or 4 Skylanders Basic 8gb bundles for $294 each.

They're on a clearance table and it's obvious they want them gone so maybe they'd give it to you for the Kmart price last year of $179. Worth asking anyway.

        • @Bands06:
          Thanks for the tip mate.

  • +2

Hahah vitasoy milk is in the tags.

    • Ha yeah I know I saw that too.

  • Do big w have any stickers lower than $10

    • Yeah. 75c lol

    Anyone knows about VIC's stores?

    • +1

Highpoint store has some games, no consoles. Sunshine has 2 2ds bundle left.

    • South Yarra has at least 6 2DS Bundle. And also they have pokemon black, white for 30. Too expensive I think.

  • Went into Big W Warrawong, can't say I was impressed with what I saw unfortunately.

There was a few drop zone boxes in the toy section with only baby rattles and blankets in them. There's a "Drop Zone" section near the office supplies section, unfortunately it's full of colouring pencils or glitter pens. Checked out the games section, couldn't see anything heavily discounted. No Drop Zone advertising or labels…Couldn't see any other Drop Zone boxes in the store.

Either Warrawong's only got a select few items listed at "Drop Zone" prices, or they need to pull their finger out and clearly advertise ALL the items which've been reduced (I'm not saying they haven't done this, but if the staff have, the Warrawong store isn't worth going to if you're after a decent variety of "Drop Zone" sale items imo).

    • +1

There's usually a designated area for where most drop zone items go. I don't know how big the warranting store is but its usually where the outdoor furniture use to be

      • -2

        No there isnt

    • thanks. was going to check it out..

  • QV out of stock

  • Here is a selection of games they were adjusting the price for to give you an idea of what have are reduced

    http://imgur.com/c7p2t0i

    This was at Vic QV

  • Got my ps vita

  • anyone knows which Vic store still has stock?

    • +1

Ringwood (Eastland) has none of the games and only a slim PS Vita. It has a few accessories; PS3 remote, 4gb Vita card, PS4 USB Hub all $10 each. Kmart also has nothing.

Trials Fusion is $15 from EbGames, the $30 from Big W is more expensive than most places.
