I believe this is the cheapest it has been. (subject to correction by fellow ozbargainers)

Bought one last year for $64.50. Not much of a price drop, but you are correct as far as I know.

For the money, this is one of highest energy absorbing surge protectors you can buy (2700 Joules).

The only better deal would have been this higher-end Belkin Surge Protector/Power Filter deal from last year (4720 Joules/123,000 Amps), which I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on.

    • Darn, slipped below my radar too… The model you mentioned has non-recessed sockets, apart from the higher energy absorption, which is pretty nice.

The Extreme Golds have been slightly cheaper in the past (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/47306), but this is a good deal.

      • Thanks. Good spotting. Will update description accordingly.

  • What's the difference between the Gold Series and Extreme Gold Series?

    • I'm not really sure, but I got myself two of the gold series, since it had most of the features I was looking for + a hefty connected equipment warranty. I've been using some random-brand name stuff from previous bargains, but the reality is that although they claim equally hefty warranties and seem to work ok for the most part, I've never even been able to locate a proper website for said companies (e.g. Bosston, HyperTec, Arista etc). Seem to be rebranded stuff from the same manufacturer for the most part, and they still cost $25+. In contrast, Belkin is a known company, and at twice the price, and a $250,000 warranty, seems well worth the price.

I looked for a while and have concluded that extreme is a name added onto the product since the box says extreme protection. So it's just marketing hype the two are one and the same I am certain even though the gold has sold 10x more

    • They are exactly the same.

Different sellers just make up their own names.

      • Weird thing is, Futu Online have both.

  • Does anyone know if these will fit the square box transformer plugs. Without wasting the adjacent plug ?
I need to have all 8 plugs available

    • Captain Obvious here: depends on the power brick size. So far, I haven't come across a power supply that was so over-sized it blocked adjacent plugs.

You've got a gap of about 3cm between sockets and a 2.5cm indentation.
