I've heard about big problems with this model. Apparently the fan is very loud non-stop, Lenovo doesn't want to accept the issue, and many BIOS updates haven't resolved it either. I would keep away from it and purchase one of the ASUS or MSI for a bit more.

I have the Lenovo S10, and whilst some people do have fan problems, others don't. Personally, I don't have any problems with any fan noise.

There is a forum here (http://s10lenovo.com/) when you can read about others' experiences with this netbook.

there's a million of these in NSW schools

if there was such a problem they'd know about it

The S10e is ok. The older S10 suffered badly from excessive heat issue.

For those that don't have the fan issue (which can be resolved for most by a BIOS update) this is fairly good. The new S10e has a smaller resolution which is a bummer. I'm actually after one of these and am strongly considering picking one up.

EDIT: Strangely, about 5 hours ago I searched static ice and found MSY to be the cheapest. Glad I didn't drop in as this has now beaten the MSY price. Really stoked.

  • Wierd, because I just checked MSY just then and its more expensive. However there has been another store is selling at exactly the same price, Orange IT however I don't know if it offers shipping as well.

  • Its not bad, but would this deal not be better, its cheaper, it doesnt have bluetooth and its a smaller screen, but its a much better brand.

    • You obviously don't know who Lenovo is.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other IMHO! ;)

Buy your hardware based on model specific credible reviews & experience; never just assume any one brand is better than another. Pretty much all manufacturers make duds from time to time, but it's how they deal with the fallout from it that shows their mettle! ;)

$400 Asus 1000HE is good competitor to this deal: http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=475 . The Asus has the longer lasting 63Whr battery (9.5hrs). The S10e has the expresscard slot.

    • Don't both have a 6 cell battery? if so, they should have the same battery life.
