Hello,

Just saw this add on Battle.net: 50% off World of Warcraft and 25% off Warlord of Draenor. The expansion got pretty good reviews with an average of 9 out of 10.

I really wish they would do occasional 50% off subscriptions as well.

    • If you have the gold, the wow tokens at the rumoured 20k g each will make subscriptions effectively free. 😄

      • 20k seems very unrealistic. That amount is very easily attainable.

You have to rate the expansion 9/10 to justify your purchase and continued addiction :)

Two to three times a year Blizzard drops the price of the game to around $5. Wouldn't recommend buying the Draenor expansion either with the current content drought.

No deal. Needs to be 50% off ($29 max) before I buy Draenor. Also, JB sell it for $49, so this price is effectively only a 15% discount.

  • You can effectively get draenor for $39 from Harvey Norman with the $5 sign up.

Gave up the Warcraft…… never get that time back again….watched people waste years of their lives glued to this game.

i think it's fascinating, the people in game and how wrapped up they become with mundane things they invent to do in the world (day after day).
and the perceived rewards for hours and hours of grinding - basically useless shite.

and you have to pay for this? lol, no thanks

  • Not a bad deal with the new RAF mount out and other rewards. As someone else mentioned, the original game does drop to $5 usually around Black Friday, Xmas and US Summer.

  • Not a terrible deal, but not great.

As for the reviews, I think we all know their skewed. Even if Blizzard don't contribute something towards engineering "favourable" reviews (e.g. continued "free" subscription), any intelligent person must be aware the only people who can get 1st hand experience (hence write a valid review) are those who've purchased the game and have ongoing subscription - other words, they have a deep emotional & financial bond with the game.

The AusGamer reviewer even admits as much in his opening sentence:

"Nostalgia can be a very potent sensation, and one that many developers like to capitalise on. Like any long-lived MMO, World of Warcraft utilises an expansion as a breath of fresh air, offering a comforting mix of old and new. And it’s this power of nostalgia that fuels much of the fun in WoW's fifth expansion, Warlords of Draenor."

Even putting aside the fact that 90% of the reviews would be bias, we find the game wasn't that well received once we dig a little deeper. Metacritic (4.5/5 score) is a prime example. When we look at user reviews we find 174 Positive vs 183 negative.

Basically I'm saying: Nice find but take the reviews with an extra large pinch of salt :)

Edit Also, another source to purchase the game is G2A
