Just wonder: if the price on the web is lower than the one in store, will store staff offer the lower price from the web?

    • Pretty sure they will, all the prices should be the same though in store

      • Ok thx. checked with one staff today, she said myer online is separate lol gonna check again tmr

        • It depends whether the sale is online only or not, sometimes this is the case but this sale is both :)

        • @TRENT86: thx

    • it's against the law to advertised at one price and sell for different price
      ,
unless like mentioned below it is online specific sale

      • I agree. Yesterday the prices have already been updated online but store refused to honour the price. SO have to visit the store again today

The buy one get one free ANTLER and SAMSONITE suitcases are a good deal. Usually only 40% during these sales.

  • Annoying they don't have the Cinemate 130 :(

Good bargains in the clearance section (fourth last link).

Free Delivery on Orders $100 and over. Standard delivery fee of $9.95 applies to all Orders under $100.

  • Anyone know how the Bose Soundock XT sounds? Always liked the regular Bose iPod dock but don't want to spend $300+. Does the XT compare at all?

    • +1
    • If you like the Bose sound signature, all of their (newer) products would suit you. The only difference is the power output, which is essentially volume/bass. Depends what you mean by how it 'sounds'.

      • Just meant was it a cheap, tinny version of their main dock. But reviews are positive. Will bring my ipod into Myer tomorrow, hopefully they have one powered on :)

  • Aww, Bose 20% off excludes all NC models, a bluetooth headset (sold out) and a couple other models already marked for clearance. Point to note that the clearance discount is around the same or less than 20%, except for the carry bag.

  • Anyone know if the sale will start at midnight online?

    Cheers

Haven't sold games for a while now (a bad decision imo)

      • +1

Their games division wasn't doing well enough to justify continuing. Margins were small and they wanted to focus more on departments with higher margins, such as fashion.

        • +3

I worked there for five years and ran the department for a while. Games were always going to be low profit margin, but they always kept the register ticking over. They also brought in lots of customers that now never set foot in the store. Customers who from our department would become buyers of TVs and computers and furniture (and being in the store creates the opportunity for sales in fashion and other high profit areas).

I'm glad I no longer work in retail but I ran the area well and can only shake my head at the decision.

And on the comment above the Bose dock I was planning on buying. The store in Brisbane didn't have it set up and powered to test so they lost a sale.

Even worse they lost a sale of an impulse tv purchase simply because they couldn't deliver to the next suburb for 4 days. Times have changed and oh, how the mighty have fallen.

          @Phreakuency:

I didn't work there, but agree with your thoughts.

They've cut a lot of divisions that brought a variety of customers that would then buy something else on impulse - the rationale of a department store. Instead they just focus on short term higher margins, but give away overall sales, which ultimately lowers margins as they need to discount more to keep/increase turnover, which is exactly what happened.

The market admired Bernie Brookes, but under his watch it's made the store less patronage/customers as the departments have been cut back.

        • +2

@Phreakuency: They need to have entertainment department near entry not back corner of stores like they do in Perth, it's the most exciting department and they love to hide it

  • BOSE CineMate 15 home theatre speaker system $663 Delivered

I bought it today, and I'm liking it a lot. I think the price is reasonable given its RRP is $829.

  • I found a heap of good stuff in the mens sales… there are some good florshiem, jeff baker shoes in there!!! thx!

  • For people interested in buying clothes, I've found some crazy deals in store. There's a series of women's clothing racks at Myer Sydney CBD which are 75% off the lowest marked price. I ended up getting some Howard Showers tops for $10 each and a Yarra Trail dress for $16.50, among other things. At one point, there was even 90% off the lowest marked price on a range of women's shoes, but that section is gone now. I got Jane Debster heels for $12! They had Windsor Smith stuff too, but it didn't fit me :(

Basically, for the best deals, go in-store and look for the XX% off the lowest marked price offers. You can easily get 90% off some good clothing brands if you do that. I buy a lot of my clothes in this way.

  • While Bose can be overpriced for some of their home cinema gear, they do portable audio exceptionally well.

The sound from a Soundlink Mini is impressive for a device that fits in one hand and at $199 it's a steal (I paid $249 for mine).
