Cheapest internet ADSL2+ retailer in Adelaide (Suburb name: North Adelaide)

Hi Guys,

I am new to Adelaide and I would like to know the cheapest internet ADSL2+ retailer in North Adelaide area. I am looking for only internet and no telephone line. I tried searching online but it only got me more confused. My requirements are as below:

  • No contract or at least not longer than 6 months contract
  • 250 GB + data
  • 8 MBPS+ speed
  • Lowest possible connection/set-up fee
  • Monthly bill below AU$51
  • Brand name of provider won't matter as long as I get what I want

If someone is up-to-date with this info with respect to Adelaide, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks, but I don't have the phone line and this link doesn't show min setup fees and min length of contract. I am looking for a precise suggestion from someone who might have just done thorough search.

You can't have ADSL with no phone line, the best you can do is naked ADSL. Since Telstra doesn't do naked ADSL, you have to be on an exchange that contains ADSL equipment from other companies that do offer naked ADSL.

You'll either have to do your own research, or (as you say) find someone in your exact location and situation who has already done the work. Good luck!

    • This… If you don't have a phone line to the house, then you'll have to pay Telstra $300 to install one.
If you do have one to the house, you may need to have it activated Plug in a corded phone and see if you get directed to call tesltra.. if not, then you're up for $99 connection fee (minimum).

Broadband Choice linked above does tell you the ISP set up fee.. the phone line setup will be identical no matter who you go through (except maybe Belong if they're still doing free setup?).
It's an awesome tool, use it!

      • except maybe Belong if they're still doing free setup?

Belong are definitely still doing free setup. My daughter is getting connected with them next Wednesday.

However, Belong are outside the OP's parameters.

  • Do you have an inactive phone line or no phone line at all? Usually if you are residing in an older house, it would be an inactive phone line, as the previous owner disconnected it. But if it is a new house, you may need to pay Telstra to install a new phone line or get Belong to do it for free (search ozbargain for belong). TPG is pretty good and they have 6 month plans (but with a higher startup fee).

  • North Adelaide doesn't look like a residential area on the ADSL maps. I think the OP will need to enter his address into a few web sites and see what's offered.

Google suggests that the NBN may be available in North Adelaide. Aren't there some "low end" NBN plans? And I don't think there's a connection fee to the NBN, is there?

    • North Adelaide is very much Residential. and I don't believe that NBN is rolled out there yet.. Prospect (the next suburb North/North-West of North Adelaide does have NBN, was one of, if not, the first suburbs in Adelaide.
