ChemistWarehouse - Worst price match guarantee

They advertise "We beat Everyone's Prices" but if my experience goes by not if they can avoid doing so.

I tried to match this deal with ToysRUs - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/190099

Initially I tried the Bronwns Plains store one evening, to be told they had to confirm stock and it was a no go as they were closed. They would not ring interstate either, even on my phone (as they are also not allowed to make interstate calls in store!).

Next day did get the match, after about 30 minutes waiting and convincing them that ToysRUs is an 'Australian Retail Store', they were originally adament it was only pharmacies, but pretty clear thats not the case on the website.

I'm sure this was also not appreciated by the long queue that formed whilst 3 staff determined how to implement the policy and calling ToysRUs. Sure the $10 loss of sale was far less than the lost customer satisfaction and staff time wasted. Used to a much better experience at Officeworks/Masters/Bunnings where reasonable proof is all that is usually required.

Anyone got amy more CW experiences or other retailers that are worse.

    Yes unfortunately it's usually at the stores manager's discretion. I had a similar experience with spotlight, not with price matching but I wasn't able to use 2 discounts on my purchase, even though there was nothing written in the terms and conditions. It was at the managers discretion. Perhaps marketing people don't shop at their own stores?

    They have good prices…most times, but they are not customer friendly at all.
    Once they gave me the wrong vitamins (I had asked the store assistant to help and she gave me the item). I was in a hurry and I did not check it (yes, partially my fault). I checked it at home so I went back (about 1 hour later) and they did not want to take it back to exchange it. It was intact (I had not opened it or damaged the container). They told me that they will not take items back. I asked for the manager and even with the store assistant confirming she made a mistake he would not badge. I do not go there unless I have no choice.

    I like Terry White Chemist. They have good customer service and they have price match too. We price matched some products with Chemist Warehouse's catalogue, they even can just look it up online. I don't know about price matching with Toys R Us though..

    my Terry White Chemist @Winston Hills exp. was bit bitter one , they refused to do price match when I showed them online catalogue using my smartphone , staff was not showing any willingness at all to entertain the price match policy ……phewwwww

    Is it just me thinking its weird that Toys'R'Us has expanded into pharmaceutical products?

    Dan Murphy's Hurstville.

    They claim they will beat everyone's advertised price. Well, I wanted to buy 6 bottles of Ricorderlig and a case of Corona beer. When I informed Dan that Aldi had the Recorderlig cheaper and another place had Corona cheaper, they explained to me that the price beating doesn't apply to these two lines. I then pointed to a sign that said they will beat any advertised price and they did their routine again. After 20 min they gave in as quite a crowd had gathered and I refused to let them serve on that register until they had finished with me.

    I rang the manager the next day and he apologised. Every time their ad is on the television I always cringe.

    How does the Lowest Price Guaranteed offer work?
    At Chemist Warehouse Online Store if you find a cheaper price on the same item at another Australian registered pharmacy or Australian registered online pharmacy we will match it and give you 10% off the difference.

    I doubt they care if they lost a $10 sale, considering how many stores they have across Australia (about 4 stores within 5 mins walking distance off each other in Adelaide CBD alone!), the fact that they know they do have good prices compared to other pharmacies and are always filled with customers. They know you'll be back!

      That's almost the opposite of the page above:

      We beat everyone’s prices! At Chemist Warehouse if you find a cheaper price on the same item at another Australian Retail Store, we will match it and give you 10% off the difference! (Excludes "online only" offers)

      So basically the only guarantee you have is a retail 'registered' (whatever this means) pharmacy, otherwise they can use the appropriate clause to wriggle out of it.

      My impression was they care if they even lose $1, the effort they take to avoid having to do a price match!
