I got a little excited - read it as $25 for a Hoselink, rather than $25 off.

    • Me too

    • That's exactly what my first thought is.

    • Updated with "From $155". Wouldn't want to get people too excited now…

  • Will hozelink ever have sale price as masters did recently it was $89.

I don't understand how masters had the best deal so far on the retractable hose

    • +3

"………..price as masters did recently it was $89."

      It was $59

    • Dealsdirect has a 40m retractable for $84.50 for those that want cheap. Not sure of the Masters quality. I've already bought and wasted money on a cheap retractable - never again. I'm hoping the Hoselink will be as good a quality as their fittings.

      • I thought it was hoselink masters was selling. I remember going to 3 of them in the west. All sold out, the day I Seen it on t.v. ad

        • I tracked this down cos it seemed really cheap but Masters was selling Hozelock NOT Hoselink. Chalk vs Cheese IMHO. Don't do it - I've bought a sub $100 retractable before & never again. I went for the High Flow 25m in the end - pricey, but I know it will last. Only problem I've has is with a swivel connector splitting but I'm willing to chance it again based on the quality of the hose & spray kit I've bought from them before.

        • @8anddrank:

          Thanks for clearing it up

      • The hose reels are great quality, but if for any reason they don't live up to your expectations, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.

We are the only consumer garden hose reel company I know of which only sells direct to their customers (compared to others who sell through a third party such as Bunnings, etc.)

The benefit of this is that we receive unfiltered feedback directly from our customers about what typically fails on a hose reel and identify areas for improvement. We are directly responsible fore and accountable for everything we sell, so we do everything we can to ensure we get it right.

The three main reason hose reels fail are due to the quality of the casing (if not proper UV stabilized, will turn to chalk in a year or two), the quality of the hose (should not pinch easily, bubble or de-laminate within 1-2 years) and the quality of the spring (customers often remark that ours is harder to pull out at first, but within a few months becomes perfect and then stays there). A hose reel is only as good as it's weakest of these three elements and I'm happy to say that in the case of a hoselink reel, we've beefed up all three.

This is out 4th generation of hose reel and by far the best we've offered yet.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here for all of Ozb to see.

I'm not sold on the long-term reliability of these reels but their hose connectors https://www.hoselink.com.au/watering-solutions/hose-clamps-f… seem good, though the hose connectors have an internal rubber o-ring that seems a bit too exposed to the elements when they are taken apart.

I also find the connector printing & packaging poor (a crude transparent plastic bag doesn't make for a good presentation; I think they should offer better-presented 'gift packs' for a few bucks extra, for those who want to give them as gifts). In-use, the Hoselink hose connectors require more force to attach & detatch than regular hose connectors; not for those with weak hands, maybe. But they sure feel solid when attached. And I can't seem to find a similar product in Bunnings. When you attach or detatch the hose, the two pieces need to be aligned. I wouldn't mind seeing a larger concave circle depression indicating where the 2 pieces must be aligned rather than that thin strip sticking out. It could more easily be 'felt' and it would stop general ground wear-and-tear on that thin protrusion that sticks out.

Saw some Hoselink hose connector knock-offs on ebay recently. They come in a different colour of plastic but same-ish general design. After postage it's not too much cheaper than getting the real thing. I tried the Hoselink "Ned Kelly" kit and didn't really like the bundled hose gun compared to some of the established brands.

Interfacing with 'regular' connectors and accessories can sometimes be a pain once you go Hoselink.

    • I tried one of these "twist-to-connect" hose connection things about 10 years ago (pretty sure it wasn't Hoselink) - the bit of plastic that is akin to the thread of a screw broke off within a week, making it useless.

Thus, I am very dubious about these type of connectors.

      • We offer a 30-day money back guarantee. If you aren't completely satisfied, we'll refund you for your purchase.

Also, our connections are made from nylon, so they are very durable. ABS plastic which is commonly used on other connections goes brittle and cracks easily.

        • Hi Rep,
I support a Strata Management business and deal with quite a few properties. I see quite a bit of Hoselink and people do love it.
However … the 30 days is way too short for a product that's considered premium.

        • @DeWalt: If you are at any time unhappy with the product, or have a warranty issue, please call us. Our service and support is second to none.

That said, the connections are solid and have no moving parts. There's not much that can go wrong with them and that's why we offer a three year warranty on them.

If there is anything else I can do to help, please send me a PM with your email and I will be in touch directly.

      • happyblah,
The reliablity should be good on the connectors.

I've had them for several months and have no concerns about something snapping off (even though I find the o-ring a bit of a (potential) weakness (maybe), they supply extras. I think the design, printing & packaging can be tweaked a little but the fundamentals are solid.

      Thank you for the feedback.

We always saw the minimalist packaging as one of our string points (less waste, less cost), but I agree completely, we should offer something pre-packaged for gift purposes. If you have any suggestions or examples of anyone else who is doing a good job of this, I would love to know.

Although the connections aren't especially good for those with weak hands, those with arthritis or issues with fine motor skill impairment find out connections easier to use because of the larger diameter of the connections. Perhaps we should take a closer look at this and see how we can improve also.

Also like your idea about changing the alignment strip to something a bit more tactile and easier to line up. I'll run this past my manager.

I'll shoot you a PM about this as well.

I like others have read some mixed reviews about this product. Some people swear by it, whilst others have had problems. Given it is more expensive than the others I wonder if it is worth it.

To be honest the other brands also have some stinking reviews- Holman being the worst. But it would be interesting to see what people here think is the way to go for a hose reel.

I know there will never be a deal as good as the Masters Hozelock deal, but wonder how that product has worked out.

  • Got one a couple of years ago. Ended up in the bin after a year. Wasn't impressed.

    • What was the issue? did you contact us for support?

If you don't mind, please PM me your email address and I'll look into this straight away.

      • The swivel connectors (between the hose and spray head) need upgrading. Its a weak point in the system.
I had a broken one, replaced it and broke that one a week later. The way it broke made it impossible to remove from the spray gun so they both ended up in the bin.

        • +1

We actually did upgrade the swivel connectors by building them into the accessory connectors instead of as a separate piece.
Please PM me your email address and I'll send you out some replacements straight away.

        • The Hoselink Rep has immediately organized a replacement for the broken parts.

Every company has failures, what is important is what they do about it.
Great to see a company make an effort and stand by their products.

          Thanks Beau

      • After a year the hose stopped rewinding . On top of that the connectors weren't compatible with other hose accessories we already had.

        • Did you contact us for customer service? It would have been well within warranty.

Please PM me with your email address and I would be happy to look into this for you.

@Hoselink: My humble apologies. I went back through my records and it was a Hozemate product I bought (which looks very similar to Hoselink). It's quality was very questionable. It does look like the Hoselink product is of very high standard. I might even buy one while your special is still on. Thanks.

        • @stinger273: I appreciate you taking the time to come back and reply. I'm certain a Hoselink reel will outlast and outperform your old one - but, if for any reason you aren't happy, or it doesn't live up to expectations, please take a moment to get in touch.

          Cheers!

Wow a plus for the responses from the rep. Hope the issues raised are resolved.

    • +1

EDIT: I have heard from one of the posters on this thread and I am arranging replacements to go out asap.

      Thanks for the complement.

Unfortunately, I haven't heard from the above posters yet. Hopefully they called customer support instead so we could sort it out for them.

We sell a lot of product and although our standard is high, like any mass manufactured product, there could be a small number with issues. We would prefer to hear from people who have received a faulty product rather than have them stew on it, throw it in the bin and then complain to others about us.

Whether you are in warranty or not, if you feel a product did not last as long as it should have, or suffered from some manufacturing defect, I urge all customers to get in touch to give us the opportunity to resolve the issue. I believe our service is second to none, but if anyone has contacted us and had not been happy with the outcome, they may also PM me on OzB as well and I promise to look into it.

  • Hi Rep

Good customer feedback and backup thumps up:)

    Some questions.
1: Do you sell 30m Hi Flow version?
2: In the normal 30m version is this the New and Improved design? because it did not mention on your website unlike the Hi Flow did.
3: We can't just use a normal adaptor say from Bunnings with your Hoselink hose?
4: Can the retractable winder work around the corner of a wall?

    Thanks
