Part of Hoselink's Black Friday Sale.
Great hose that in my opinion is worth the investment.
Only thing to keep in mind are the proprietary fittings. Plenty of accessories on Hoselink's website, which are also on sale.

RBA has flagged hose inflation as a major concern in 2026.
The hosing market is just insane at the moment.
If you buy into the market now, you'll surely be hosed.
I did hear that there is a hosing crisis at the moment in sydney
@Olly182: but you buy a house, pay it off over time and then in the end you'll be rich coz it'll prob be 2/3 times the value 30 years later
Just came here to say this is comment of the year imo.
Are your hose the same as my hose? It's like pouring money down the drain ;-)
I got hose. But they in different area codes
Proprietary fittings has always kept me away from this brand. Replacement fittings are expensive and I think can only be bought directly from Hoselink so add on shipping fees.
Yeah now that I've had mine for 3+ years and been through various fitting/adaptors/guns replaced under warranty, I'm pretty sick of it
Yep, likewise
Yep, likewise. And the replacements have been working great. That warranty experience has made me like the brand more.
I believe the hose is standard diameter, so you could replace the fittings with the regular ones if they need replacing
Can confirm, just put some Gardena stuff on our 12ish mm Hoselink when our 2019-era fittings died.
Just looked and 20m was $179.10 in November 2019 (so maybe late BF sale) - given inflation this is a pretty good deal.
I bought two hoselink sets. Dog chewed the tap-side fitting on one, which I replaced with brass. When the gun broke (which was too soon), I replaced those with normal brass ones too. For the other hose, the gun broke at the bottom, so those fittings are now also replaced.
I strongly dislike their proprietary fittings, which are needlessly bulky at no real benefit. Having to attach the tap-side fitting to the house requires soaking it in boiling water before sliding it over the nozzle, which is difficult, time-consuming, and potentially dangerous as you need to do it quickly and it's easy to get burned.
The reel is good, but there is nothing particularly good about the gun and fittings.
Can you cut the hose and just install a normal hose fitting?
You don't need to cut the hose. Their fittings are removable and then it is just like any other hose…
I don't like that they're proprietary, but they are really great fittings and are the the biggest reason why I happily buy Hoselink reels. They're superior in every way, and especially for hose reels, where keeping them under pressure is super convenient. They're so good that I bought more and re-terminiated all my other hoses with them. I'll never go back to horrible "Hozelock" quick-connects, even if I didn't need a hose reel.
Maybe someday someone will come up with a non-proprietary alternative. Until then, it's all Hoselink fittings for me.
Just buy an adapter 1 time for <$10 and it works like any other hose, except better.
I've had countless hoses over the years, when we bought our house it came with 2 hoselinks and we've been here 5 years with 0 issues (aside from buying the adapter one time).
Not usually one to advocate for a particular brand, especially one that uses propriety fittings, but hoselink is #1 for a reason
I just cut mine off and added the standard Gardena ones, now all my existing stuff works with it. Of greater concern for me is that the bit of hose that is exposed turned brown and sticky (probably sun damage) after a year or so, indicating that the hose is not great quality. I don't think I'll buy hoselink again
Same, bought from them ages ago, when I want to use a pressure washer or extend the hose. I can't because the fittings are all different.
Don't think I'll buy another hoselink again. Quality was pretty good
What's a solid option other than this?
I got a Gardena from Bunnings which came with 5-year warranty. Best part is, you're not stuck with proprietary fittings and can walk into a Bunnings to get replacement parts.
+1 Gardena - I have the 30m version. Using it for a year now a few times a week - I’m actually low key angry at myself for being such a tight arse about it for so long and thankful for the misso for nagging me every week for like 5 years to just upgrade.
I was going to get another one for the front yard but might give hoselink a go this time just to compare.
Either way my recommendation is don’t be a tight arse. Upgraded self winding hose is maybe one of the best (affordable) upgrades you can treat yourself to in adult life.
Gardena
I’ve got gardena and aldi - hose burst on aldi midnight and the water bill could have been saved towards a gardena.
Kink is a big thing in soft hoses, gardena seems to withstand kinking much better than a cheap one.
@sexy: Hmm, I always turn off the water once I'm done so I guess I would be safe. I guess retracting the hose while water still on would prevent kinking.
@sexy: I don’t think they are designed to be left on all the time, that is likely why the hose burst.
@sexy: Cheapie Holman in my case. flooded my front yard. Combined with heavy rains at the time, it caused all sorts of mould problems. It was very expensive lesson to turn off at the tap no matter how expensive your hose is.
@sexy: I always turn the tap off after using the hose. I don't trust any hose or fittings not to fail.
@Matt88: We have super high pressure, and pretty much every hose fitting eventually gives out even the good Gardena ones, so turning the tap off every time is best practice. BUT in +10 years we have never had a Hoselink one let go and we leave them on all the time. The fittings are a bit heavy, bulky and their mechanisms do wear out sooner than they should, but they do not let go. Ever in my experience.
Never had the Aldi one, but a few different brand from Bunnings and Gardena last the longest and with 5 years warranty you can't go wrong with it.
Only reason I'm leaning towards Bunnings easy to go and replace at local Bunnings
Delrico.
I've got both a HoseLink and Delrico reel and the Delrico is a better reel IMHO. Hoselink does have a longer warranty though.
The Hoselink replaced a cheapie Holman which kaster about 3 years before the axle snapped.
Had one of these for some time now and pretty happy with the quality.
Over time though it has developed an issue where it fails to fully retract the last 2m or so of hose back into the reel.
Anyone had any experience with this? Would be out of warranty by now, not sure if this is something that is serviceable, etc.
When you're done, do you turn the tap off and release all water pressure then wind up?
Yes
If not - send them a message. Another plus for Hoselink is their rock solid support.
Hoselink is shit. I got one and it takes 4.5 kilos of pressure to pull the hose out. Also their own adapters and attachments suck too.
Hoselink is shit. I got one and it takes 4.5 kilos of pressure to pull the hose out.
So something even a small child could do. Do you need to go to the gym?
It should take no effort to pull a hose out of the reel, let alone that much pressure. Go chuck a 4 kilo weight on your hose nozzle as you walk it off the reel and see if thats reasonable.
It should take no effort to pull a hose out of the reel
It needs to if you want automatic retraction.
You're pulling against the thing that will pull the hose back in for you.
For these classic models, isn't it cheaper to buy on Everyday Marketplace where we usually get 20-25% cashback?
Yep, appears free delivery, so would make the OP $172
True, you can sometimes get it cheaper. However, you can pair this deal with the current 5% cashback offer from TopCashback which brings it down to ~$173.
25% EM cashback on TCB right now makes it cheaper
After so many positive reviews, bought one of these. Received a returned product. Was clearly used with marks etc and leaky. Service was great and I got a replacement. Unfortunately that leaks too so I gave up and left it. Unsure if just bad luck but not taking another punt with this company.
Damn, appreciate the review. Had heard this brand went downhill in quality and uphill in price like everything else these days.
Are you sure you were following directions correctly? Sorry for asking, but they would leak if not set up correctly.
proprietary connectors so you can't even use a (profanity)^3 sprinkler with out forking out more.
The adapter pack is around $11 currently, and you can connect whatever you want to it. Really not that big of a deal.
Yet it is. There are standard connectors already.
In my view you are buying this for the reliability of the reel mechanism. I’ve had my 25m since 2017 and it’s been rock solid.
I use it three times a week and it’s been sitting in the full sun since then. Any retraction issues are fixed by pulling out more line to reset it.
I have had to replace the fittings twice in that time though.
I've had mine nearly 5 years and it's been rock solid with no leaks. Out in all the elements and still looking fresh. I bought the adapter kit so I could use standard fittings, and I also got a cover to go over the hose reel. It has an opening so you don't have to remove the cover every time you use it. The cover is now faded from the sun but I have a spare I can pop on when needed. The mounting brackets aren't rusted to crap either unlike some of the cheapo Bunnings (Holman) hose reels i've had in the past.
My cover is finally disintegrating after around a decade on north facing brick wall
The plastic teeth in mine (hi-flow reels) has been terrible - one of the three reels I bought sent back for service 3 times (its very difficult to return ship after being filled with water).
The teeth broke a 4th time and its out of warranty now. Why the guidance is made out of a cheap plastic I have no idea. They shipped the part as 'good will' after back and forth; as it was in repairs only a few months prior - for me to install myself; and the receipt included noted a discount (total cost of the part) of about 50 cents.
Also burst 2 x 'non-burst' fittings (broke internally - we have low water pressure), neighbour prevented a pool once as we were away - (partially we're to blame - my wife had been leaving the hose on/closes it from the flow connector on the hose) - always make sure to turn the tap off at the tap. All 3 of the guns broke in 2 years; leaking from the power slider, and UV breaking away the plastic on the nozzle selector - and all reels were treated with pretty decent respect and care (pulled out straight, and fed back in slowly).
My mother-in-law has a very old Hoselink that is smooth, runs well, and its perfect; therefore I bought them thinking they're a one time investment.
Ours (bought in 2022) are honestly; rubbish; completely different quality. Now all due for replacement.
I got mine a couple of years ago and yes, quality not as good as in the past.
I was wondering about this. The same fate as many once reputable products unfortunately
I duno abot brands, I have an aldi special, and whatever the cheapest one at bunnings is, since 2019 and it’s been rock solid. Both cost around $35?
Also replace the fittings a few times tho.
If you're happy to dive into the hoselink ecosystem of parts and fittings these things are bulletproof. Very well made and stand up to alot of thrashing over time. Have been using mine for 10+ years. Have only had to swap an o-ring on a fitting once, and they always give you heaps anyway. The only thing I've had to replace is one of the fittings that my dog chewed. No other issues and their postage and service are always good.
Would happily buy again.
This is probably their best product when drought hits. https://www.hoselink.com.au/products/root-waterer-soil-break…
It seems the hoses are now being massed produced cheaply and declining in quality.
I love my Hoselink. The complaints about the proprietary fittings are kind of irrelevant once you have them. After years of dealing with shitty hoses that kinked, this has been a pleasure to use. I've had mine 3.5yrs and it hasn't shown any signs of wearing out. I like that I had the option to buy a UV protection cover for it as well - it's faded now but my reel is protected.
Agreed. I don't understand why everyone gets so worked up about the fittings. If you spend $20-30 on extra bits and pieces you will have all you need. I understand if the overall cost is too big a barrier, but the idea that the special fittings are a major deal breaker seems silly to me. People spend way more on items they use way less.
My lunch today cost more than the adapter pack delivered to my door.
I've been camping for their Evolve series (with 5y warranty) to come down more than 15%, but no luck yet. This time it only down 10%, and still not come to Everyday Marketplace
I acquired 2 hoses in the last couple of years. Mine definitely kink.
Had a 30m hoselink for about a year now (I bought the newer EVOLVE system). Hasn't skipped a beat so far. The proprietary fittings have all worked well. I made sure to follow the install instructions very carefully and havent had an issue. My wife is small and struggled to pull the hose out initially, but she's used to it now. Wife is a very keen gardener and uses it frequently, she says it's the best hose/sprayer she's ever used. It's a well built system.
My main criticism was regarding the rubbish/cheap screws provided to drill into brick. They honsetly felt like they were made of plastic. I would expect more quality bits for the price.
+1 for the screws. Two of them broke off while I'm tightening them.
I bought a third reel a couple months ago (my first and second are 8+ years old and still working perfectly) and it came with replacement screws in the box. A note told me to dispose of the screws in the main accessory pack.
Oh wow. They must've had many complaints. That won't work for me now anyway. Half of the screw in broken inside the whole in 2/4 screws.
Everything still works perfectly with one good screw on each side and the hose is really good otherwise. I had it for about 2 years now and it's never missed a beat.
what happens in this case? do you call hoselink to give you better quality screws?
Quick trip to Bunnings.
I am new to this hose. What else do I need to order togeter with Classic Retractable Hose.??
Get the adapter pack, it's handy to have just in case:
https://www.hoselink.com.au/products/accessory-conversion-bu…
Thank you. I will get this as well.
im sorry to sound noob and was going to ask what AptApt asked but what is this adapter pack for?
like if i buy this house, wouldn't i just use this hose itself?
Absolutely however you might want to connect the hose to a fertilising or weeding bottle, a kids mud kitchen or water play toys, existing sprayers or sprinklers, etc etc. For around $10 it’s very handy to have even if you don’t have an immediate need.
If you grow a lot of veg or fruit trees, this will save a lot of water, especially in drought conditions and optimizes for your plants. https://www.hoselink.com.au/products/root-waterer-soil-break…
I looks great. I will get this as well. Thank you.
I have a 30m one that’s been going strong for more than 8 years. And I am very lazy often to keep it outside. It’s hasn’t skipped a drop. Highly recommend.
Is this overkill for water tank to water garden bed? I need minimum 15m hose
Anyone know what’s the difference between Evolve or just stick with classic?
There's a good video on the website which explains all the differences.
Got two 30m hoses (free) thanks to FlyBuys. Some of the best points redemptions I have done, and they're built to last!
hoselink free from flybuys?
Yes, through points redemptions as opposed to spending my own money. Bought during a FlyBuys pts sale, so saved even more.
7x the price of my hoses, pairing with a $5 gun. It does the job. I know quality diff.

I got the classics and I don't really rate them. the only reason I got them was 30% off from everyday rewards marketplace from woolies and the Mrs was complaining about how ugly all the hoses sitting around looked. in terms of aesthetics its awesome. looks fab stuck on the wall and no more hoses lying around.
my issue is the weakness of water pressure from these and the amount of effort you need to reel one of these out. I got both 20m and 30m option as my yard abit depth and requires the full 30 to each the end. the pressure on these are so poor compared to my old one that it replaced. I still remember comparing them side by side and I would much prefer my old one. 20m is kinda ok but at 30m its like the men's toilets where the person before never had enough power to make it to the urinal bowl but instead the floor dribbling down. I think for smaller gardens its really neat and if you actually prefer the gentle pressure then win win for you.
My next point is the strength required to pull these. my mum is a small lady and she need to grab it over her shoulders and pull her set amount in one go because she doesnt have the strength to start stop pulling section by section. she finds it a real struggle to use and also preferred the one old. again she does agree it looks nicer now but its too hard for the elderly.
apparently the evolve has better pressure so if you were going to buy get that. build quality feels great but just seem like a poor performer for its price point. I had heaps higher expectation for something this exy.
The longer the length, the wider diameter that is required to maintain pressure due to friction
Good to see someone else mention the effort it takes to unfurl. Also agree on the pressure, the only fix is to buy an adapter and get one of these https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-12mm-metal-adjustable-pow…
Overall the build is good but its a very regrettable buy.
Not for a 20m hose.
I can't see the resale value going up…
