Oztent JV Signature RV Tent - 2 Person

Signed with a sharpie from officeworks no doubt.

Ps.lotta work above good job OP

    • And who's going to share a tent with jv?

  • +1

    Thanks OP!
Really concern about the quality of Wild Country branded products…

    • Yeah I certainly am getting the same vibes. I have seen their chairs and they seemed to be on the same quality level to OzTrail and Coleman, but no where near that of say OzTent or Blackwolf.

Some of their lighting looks cheap and nasty though, would definitely check it out in store before purchasing.

Have an older version of the Escape Outdoors Adapt Hiking Tent - 1 Person (bright green colour)

The black plastic on some of the seems are cracking, the reflective strips are flaking off and from day 1 I would wake up thinking it rained on the inside.

Airflow relied on a small opening at the top and one smaller at the feet. If it was a windless day, they would have 0 effect.

Having said that, very light. It's basically a bivvy. I bought mine for $99 sale from $199.

Wild country chairs, bought the matador ii, has not died yet. Used on three occasions

      • Yup, this is what is my concern about the Adapt tent too, which is the product I'm considering.

My cheapo $25 tent is 1000 waterproof, and is pretty damn good even in rainy conditions, but not good at all in a full blown rain/windstorm…rain entered my tent.

The adapt tent is only 2000 waterproof. I dunno, but I was expecting a bit more than just double the waterproof-ness for the original price they charge.

This is why I'm not entirely convinced to buy it. Your review has helped a lot in trying to decide for sure or not.

I need a hiking tent that will withstand a wind/rain storm. Completely, not just kind of!!

        • +1

None of those tents would do that actually. The main part of the water entering the tent in a storm is the bottom. If the rain fly doesn't reach the ground, rain will find its way inside. Sorry to say but you might need to look at a more reputable brand if you need bad condition protection. Which means more $$$.

But are you sure it was rain and not just major condensation?

        • @plague69:

The reason rain entered the tent was exactly why you said…the outer layer didn't reach the ground. Definitely rain…blowing in the
wind right into the gap in my tent

Don't suppose you have any suggestions on what to look for/good brands?

        • @CryssieJade: lol, you won't like the price and how hard it is to get, but Helliberg makes great tents! MSR if you want light weight.

With Helliberg, it's outter pitch first, so even when pitched in a rain storm, the inside stays dry.

        • @CryssieJade: Google "best hiking tent", identify one you like, then set an automatic search on eBay to email you. If you're lucky, eBay will do another site-wide discount for EOFY

        • +1

          @plague69:

          Wowwwww that is pricey!!

I will be happy to pay a couple hundred in a heartbeat, but $800US? No.

      • Any hiking tent that doesn't include pack weight and size in its specifications is next to useless - they obviously don't intend it to be used!

        • Got those when I started hiking. A little heavy and not very durable, but for that price, almost anyone can get out there and have a go. Just invest more if you find you're enjoying it more :D Leave only footsteps, take only picture.

        • +1

          @plague69: what about poop?

        • @tomkun01: Good point… 30cm deep is a courtesy -_-

    • +2

well spotted. my wild country directors chair's seat fabric just split itself in half. then again, it has been sitting in the sun every day since I got it

      • That's pretty disappointing regardless of it sitting in the sun or not. How old was it ?

        • I think it starting to crack around the 1 year mark. Can't complain, it was free (I had a $20 sorry voucher)

    • +2

Outdoor Expedition and Escape Outdoors are both Ray's house brands, meaning they're generic Chinese-made products that have been rebranded and given up to a 1000% markup. I think Wild Country also falls under this category, but I can't really remember. I used to work at one of the stores ;)

      • Wild country is too. I try only to buy these brands on clearance.

  • Also a good price on Shimano Stradic 1000FJ

    • I noticed a lot of fishing gear this sale. Have fun :)

  • Would the Mosquito Tent be alright for use on the beach to block sun?

  • Any feedback for the Wil Country Tiki Folding Chair ?

    • Expect Target el-cheapo quality. Price seems alright though

Bloody rip off, camping chair which was 49 before is now 69.

Beware of the fake sales, don't buy anything unless you are absolutely sure it's cheap.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187371

    • RRP always $80. Just this time around there wasn't as much off. Still a sale.

Wild Country Matador II Chair ($24) was $79. Last sale was $39

Buddy All I'm saying is be careful, Don't just buy things because it says upto 70 % off, it is not true as obviously demonstrated above.

RRP is $ 80 if the chair was ever sold at that price. The chair was cheaper and now it's gotten more expensive at this "SALE"

        • True. Always compare. OZB way.

What makes it harder is all the cheap stuff is house brand. Hard to tell what something is really worth until you try it out :(

    • Ok, you've lost me!?

None of the chairs in this deal are $49 or $69 ? Nor are any in the link you have posted, exactly what are you referring too ?
