Current Food Recalls from Food Standards Australia New Zealand

Following the recent frozen berries Hepatitis A contamination, I was interested in seeing a list of official food recalls. Found it here:

http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/industry/foodrecalls/recalls…

It was interesting to see that there are so many recalls, including very recently Target Easter Chocolate, Golden Circle Canned Beetroot, Aldi Berg hotdogs and dirty fresh eggs. Some have more serious bacterial contaminations, but most of them are due to undeclared allergens or improper labelling, which could be an issue for those suffering from food allergies.

Just thought I'd share this list for those who haven't seen it before.

  • I look on the site occasionally.
Like you say most times its labelling problems (nuts etc) which doesnt affect our family but I guess does some families.

I can't believe in these times where labels are needed (and its been that way for years) that there are still problems like Nuts, Milk, Egg not mentioned.

    • Yeah for non-allergy sufferers, the ones to take note are the ones with bacterial contamination. As a consumer, before I saw this list, I wasn't aware of

      etc

      • But they are made in Australia, so they are "safe" from our media.

So move on - no story here.

It's Gallipoli myth time, Anzac Biscuits anyone?

        LOL

BTW (and off my joke point above) those Aldi sausgaes would be also be dangerous now even if there was no contamination

All use by dates up to and including
        08-02-15 (Strassburg)
        16-01-15 (Skinless Hotdogs)

        :)

        • The recall was from Nov 2014 so the products would definitely not be safe to consume now. :)

The point was - I do buy Aldi deli food and wasn't even aware of the recall…

        • @moocher: Sorry My point was that we rely on our media to tell us the "truth" but only when it suits them. We get articles on how unsafe food is from overseas, while at the same time we have unsafe manufactured here.

          And I was born here.

        • @RockyRaccoon: Agree. That's why I'll check the list from time to time instead of relying on the media :)
