Sony z3, a bit hit and miss. Some people have noted cracked screens etc. Mines and friends seem ok…. Maybe get local stock

    • Yea, probably same amount that have bent iphones.

      • I think it's a little worst than iPhone bend gate
But overall great phone. Battery life is great, two days easy, screen and camera is good. Prolly not as fast as new ones but z4 is also around the corner

        • we had 3 xperia z 's in our home, never had a problem.
My son now has a z3 - all is fine except 3 weeks ago he had it in his pocket and was tackled playing sport at lunch at school . the z4 is bent like a banana - it still works though, no cracked glass even. The rear glass is trying to stay straight so its peeling off at one end, gaffer tape and a case fixed that.
We did try slowly and gently to straighten it but it wouldnt so left it as is.

He's still happy with it (better be, I am not buying another phone he has only had this one 4 months)

How did he manage do bend his z3 into a z4?

    • I vote Z3 as well.

Owned a Z and now Z3, never had issues.

  • I'd look into a Zenfone 2 16GB or LG G2.

You don't need spend more than $600 dollars to get a good phone…

LG G2 has a serious reception issue.
many things online about it. seems to be a software issue but no solutions found anywhere.

phone will display that it has reception yet it wont load pages or do anything for a random amount of time unless you restart the phone or wait for who knows how long.

      • I didn't notice that issue with my LG D802. There were some situations where I noticed my phone would not connect to the internet even though it's showing 4G, but this is extremely rare — and I'm a very heavy internet / Spotify user.

        • forgot to mention how it's NEVER connects to satellites for GPs it's beyonds useless with that.
ive been in car as passenger and had my g2 and a s4 both using gps and the whole time g2 is searching for satellite while s4 working perfectly.

        • @holden93:
I have this same issue, thought it was just my phone…

For an Asian wonder with 1M+ sales, and proven track record ( admittedly, a laughable one at that) under its belt — OnePlus ONE's B'day this Thur, 23 Apr. ~$480.00 AU ~~Cm12S imminent.
    Notable drawback. one-sim only; and showing its age - L1800 U900 against L1800 L700.

  • Lg g2/3, nexus 5/6, Motorola g2 and a lot others. depends on what you need and how much you want to spend.

  • Xiaomi Mi4 or Mi3, similar specs to Galaxy S5 and at half the price of the S6 and Iphone 6, and yes it has a 5 inch screen and 3080mAh battery, more juice than the other two ;).

  • Are the Kogan and Aldi phones worth considering?

  • How about Note 4? do you think it's worth buying.. it's now available around 650 to 700 dollar..

I am thinking of nexus 6 or note 4, although based on the review, note 4 seems to be better.

    • and cheaper too

    • My friend has a Note 4 and has found it to be really quite laggy meaning he doesn't really like it anymore.
Nexus 6 on the other hand has become snappier after Android 5.1.

      • Out of curiousity, what do you mean by laggy?

        • Slow response time to interactions, such as taking a while to register and respond to touches.

He has since sold it for $550 (was a struggle to even get that much!).

        • Must be something wrong with the phone then because i love it's ease of use. Never happened for me. Thanks for replying.

  • Microsoft Lumia 640 will be released on MAY 4TH .. $299 FOR THE 5". #399 FOR 5.7". Some are taking early orders. With the upgrade to Win 10 and Microsoft being desperate to gain a foothold in the market, this just might be a good option. If this phone integrates with windows 10 desktop easily and is (profanity) proof, they could be on a winner here. I think they have wised up with their help, and basic directions since the unbelievable shite help section in Win98. I got the prices from Harvey Norman

    • If you want to get a Windows Phone, I personally recommend Lumia 925 or 920.
It's really cheap (if you can find it, I saw a few on eBay) and it has better CPU, hardware in general than most of the Lumias out there (excluding the current flagships, so 930 and 1520, and to some extent 1020). 1020 has better camera and more ram but it has same SoC as the Lumia 925.

Not to mention, all the current Lumia are promised to get at least Windows 10 or forked version of Windows 10 depending on spec. (and TP is available for most, as far as I know)

    Moto X (2014)

I use its big cousin the Nexus 6 and love it. I recommended the Moto X to a friend leaving his iPhone 5S and he is more than happy with it

  • I will have a look at all the phone suggested.. Thanks all :)

  • I have a z3, not bad, the waterproof charging flap is a pain in the arse, so is the on/off button when a case is installed, not as bad as a HTC.
You gotta give credit to Apple for it end user awareness.

  • Any one of the Lumia phones.

    • I've got a nokia lumia 636 and I'm not particularly fond of it.
The missing apps, some windows has but is not being continued..
The bad screen resolution (coming from a LG G3)
      The occasional sluggishness
Inbuilt maps are really hard to use, and it's timing isn't as good as google's.

Battery life is epic considering I really don't like using it.

      Edit-
Thought this was post was in 2016… ignore me.
