Chromecast $29 + $7.95 Delivery at Dick Smith & Stan

Mod: Moved to forums Original link

Sign up to Stan.

Stan code drops it to $39 and get an extra $10 off when ordering online.

100% kudos to Zirkaloy for posting instructions on how to get it for $29 + delivery.

EDIT: Apologies, but seems C&C is not available on this product.

Mod: The codes don't appear to stack so unfortunately the deal is not valid

As I already mentioned in a different deal, you CANNOT get the Stan deal click & collect.

    • I'm taking the employee's word for it: http://i.imgur.com/Q8yf8Mm.jpg

      • +1

The website says otherwise - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/networking-wireless/google-chrom…

There is clearly only the delivery option for the Stan-specific Chromecast. The regular Chromecast is valid for click & collect, but you can't use your Stan code with that one.

        • Yes, it seems you can't use click an collect on those chromecast anymore, for some reason… It must be a recent change because we still had C&C Chromecast last week.

      • Have you tried it ???

    • +2

I did previously. Cost me $29.05 in this deal

      • +1

Yes, but then they 'fixed' it so that you can no longer get the Stan Chromecast click & collect. See the link I posted above.

        • Sneaky dick.

    When is V2 coming?

  • Not working for me…you can only add one code at a time

  • +2

How many of these were made? Billions? Just add water? you would think the supply should be exhausted by now due to the number of deals, votes and comments

    • I guess no one's actually buying them :)

  • +2

Cannot combine code during checkout OP, STAN code "DROP10" worked for me which dropped the price to $39 (-$10).

      Bit dearer than Chromecast mind.

Can be pre-ordered at JB Hi-Fi already..

but then it's just like an apple tv, which requires more cables, not cool for wall mount tv.

      • The unit is apparently 120x120x20mm - you might be able to mount it behind your TV if you have enough space.

  • Has anyone confirmed this works? It's not working for me.

  • Have you personally tried this TA

Not really fair making people sign up to Stan and then finding out the 2 codes cannot be combined at checkout

  • Stan code blocks the order to Delivery only.

The additional $10 DROP10 code wont combine with the STAN code, as there is no possibility to pick up any more.

I just tried a few minutes ago. Anyone else have any success to get it to $29?

PRICE COMES OUT TO $39 FOR DELIVERY WITH THE STAN CODE

    OR

$39 VIA $10 DISCOUNT VIA CLICK AND COLLECT WITH DROP10 CODE

EITHERWAY THE CHEAPEST IS $39 :(

    • I can confirm this as well.

Truth be told…can't get ANY chromecast to be 'Click to Collect' at the moment.

  • +1

Not working on my end. I think this should be marked as bogus until someone else confirms it working

Great way to boost subscriptions to stan though

  • Its getting really hard to resist the temptation. :-|

Can I play movies stored in my PC with Chromecast?

    • +2

yeah you can play it via a chrome browser extension "avia"

      • In-app purchase of $4.99 gives you Chromecast support

        bummer!

    • If they are compatible mp4's you can - just drag and drop into the Chrome window.

      • MKV fan mate, no luck then.

        • Plex is probably your best bet then. Supports Chromecast and it's free.

        • @dazweeja: LIMITATION: Playing media from your Plex Media Server on the device running this app is limited (one minute for music and video, watermark on photos) until the app is unlocked.

        • +2

          @bargainaus:

I wasn't referring to the app (which is paid but is sometimes free), just using the PC:

          https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201206866-Cast-fro…

        • @dazweeja: Hmm, looks like time to grab a Chromecast now, bring it on again below 30$!

Question: Is it absolutely necessary to sign up for Plex account to use your above linked approach with Chromecast??

        • @bargainaus:

I'm not exactly sure because I do have an account but I don't see why it would be necessary. The Plex Media Server software comes with everything you need to run it locally. I access mine through:

http://[Local Plex Media Server IP Address]:32400/web

I've certainly never paid for Plex Pass. I did however buy the Android app which is actually really good and well worth the $6 or so for the one-time purchase (has been free on Amazon a couple of times too).

        • @dazweeja: playing media on browser is new to me! Last night I setup Plex server and Chrome was eating up huge chunk of ram while playing. Now just need chromecast to see how good it is to stream.

When I stream to chromecast, the video will not play in my browesr, right?

        • @bargainaus: just use the 'stream desktop' function in Chrome, and play your video normally - ie windows media player, VLC player etc

  • ROFL…

I had LITERALLY just walked into a JB near my house to show them the Harvey Norman deal.
Wanted to see if they would price match.

Hit OzB on my phone to prepare for the deal match.
    Saw this.

Exclamed "HA! Damnit! Nice work Ozbargain"
    Did a 360 and walked…the f@ck…OUT.

    Thanks Tightarse.

Signed up for the DS deal. How long does it take to get the voucher?

    • Refreshed my browswer. Voucher arrived. :)
Will see if I can get the code to work now.

  • +1

That screenshot doesn't even make sense..
The original price is incorrect and it doesnt show this supposive $20 discount from both the Stan code and "drop10". By the sounds of the comments here the codes won't even stack.

  • +3

The two codes cannot be combined.

saw on HN near chadstone pickup for $38…. this is not a deal after all……

FYI, I quickly sent a private message to TA, after I realised I did not express myself correctly. Here is what I sent him:

    Hey,

In my message, on the other post, I was trying to help the guy getting the Chromecast for $29 without the $10 off code. I wasn't referring to the new $10 off code, I was referring to the offer that, until now, worked perfectly: The Stan code brought the Chromecast down to $39 (step 2) and ordering online + C&C saved you a further $10 (step 3): https://www.stan.com.au/chromecast

I provided my receipt as an evidence.

But apparently, the online team changed the way the system works, and you do not benefit from the $10 off online (in step 3) and you cannot click & collect anymore. I do not work for their online team and I have no idea why they changed it.
Also, like I said, it must be a very recent change since we still had C&C orders for Chromecast last week.

    Sorry about the confusion,

    Zirkaloy

Again, sorry about that, it was my mistake. I already signed-up to Stan with my credit card and could make another account to check if the deal was still working. I just went on the Stan website and saw the exact same offer still going on, so I assumed the deal was still valid.

For people who have signed up to Stan, you should get 30-days for free and you can cancel at anytime without being charged. Canceling the account within the 30-days trial period will also end the trial period.

    • +1

      Thanks for this Zirkaloy :)

  • If only it had C&C. Everybody dance now!

  • I managed to get it to $21.05 including delivery, however it went through to checkout at $31.05. Not sure whether to take the screenshot into JB Hifi after work and try to get it for $21.05. Not sure it's really worth it, as my local JB does not tend to price match easily.

  • What a shame, I was hoping to get one of these, sub $30 is a no brainer.
I'll keep my eyes out, thanks all anyhow.
