Thanks, looks like a cheap solution to go over a 3 phase cable in a high traffic area at my local not for profit org. Could you suggest anything better for a similar price?

    • +3

I'd suggest a cable ramp, you don't want people stepping on cables, mats aren't the greatest protection for cables.
Maybe not the cheapest, but gives you an idea of what you should be looking for: http://www.cablesafe.com.au/

      • +1

using a mat and the associated wear and tear from the weight of walking on the cable is probably an OHS issue too…

  • Hi Jusdrifn 86, this would be the best price mat that will work, I am not sure if the holes in the mat will be a problem?

    • +1

Thanks, I'll order one now :)

  • +2

Assuming the quality is the same, the price compares well to Bunnings:

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/matpro-900-x-1500mm-large-safety-…

The Bunnings one is 18mm thick, this only 12mm

    • -1

      Hi GreatWhiteHunter,

Thanks for that, if you are in Bunnings and you compare like for like you ll see they are the same thickness!

If not we have the 90 Money Back Guarantee as well so its safe buying from www.matshop.com.au. :)

      • +4

How can they be the same thickness if the specs are different. This makes no sense.

If the Bunnings one is 18mm and this is 12mm, then there is a difference. Maybe you mean that in effect the difference is not noticeable?

        • Hi Placard, did you check the one at Bunnings is 18mm?

When I checked it is identical.

          Sorry I wasn't clear earlier.

Why does your website say "was $45" when your normal price for this has been around $31-$33 over the last year ????

Hehe…that's awkward…happens all the times in "Sales" when the was price just magically inflates…

    • That makes it just a free shipping deal for me. No sale. Nice find JV!

    • Hi JV sorry is that the same mat?

      • Yes, the actual price is $31.15 for the 900 x 1500mm.

        • -2

Excellent, The new mat we put up is $26.00 so $5.00 less!

          Hope this helps.

        • @matshop:

Excellent, The new mat we put up is $26.00 so $5.00 less!

          Not excellent.

You are claiming on your website that you put the price down from $45, so your are misleading customers.

        • @jv:

I apologise JV, I am sorry for that, is there any other mats of the same size and quality at less than $26.00 incl GST and delivered free??

I am sorry for that, is there any other mats of the same size and quality at less than $26.00 incl GST and delivered free??

          You are missing my point…

        • -2

So it's $5 cheaper and free shipping? Sounds like a deal to me.

        • +5

          @justtoreply:

          So it's $5 cheaper

But not $19 cheaper as claimed in the link…

    • -1

      Great point JV

Aprreciate you looking into it for us.

Here is the other mat that you are referring to. http://www.matshop.com.au/rubber-safety-mat-with-holes.html

With that particular mat we have had to put up the price due to the rise in the USD against the AUD.

Getting back to the product we posted now, is $ 26.00 incl. GST and free shipping a bargain?

If not let me know the links of better priced websites.

Thanks again for looking into it for us, we appreciate your help.

      • +3

        Here is the other mat

The pics of the two mats are identical

        http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/14180/30079/capture.jpg

Also the price on the second mat was $31-$33 for the last year and you only just put it up to $38…

In either case, saying that you normally sell this mat for $45 is misleading

    • -1

      Hi JV

We have re searched it and found the following that confirms $ 26.00 with free shipping is a bargain.

      $ 29.90 + $ 10.05 postage
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/251790878913?limghlpsr=true&…

      $ 90.00 + GST
      http://www.matsrus.com.au/Anti-Fatigue-Rubber-Matting-with-D…

      $ 35.09 + $ 20.00 freight less $ 10.00 if first order
      http://www.nisbets.com.au/Rubber-Black-Anti-Fatigue-Mat/DP206/ProductDetail.raction?VAT_INCLUSIVE_MARKER=TRUE&UTM_Medium=PLA&UTM_source=google+merchant+feed&utm_campaign=Google_CPC&UTM_Term=Cleaning+and+Hygiene&cm_mmc=Google+PLA--Cleaning+and+Hygiene--Mats+and+Flooring-_-DP206&CAWELAID=120155510000023456&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=120155510000054315&cadevice=c&gclid=CKW6gLLkl8UCFdgTvQodoC8AlA

Thanks a lot for keeping us on our toes to make sure it is a bargain!!

Let me know if you find a better price mat anywhere else.

      Thanks again JV

      Have a great day.

      • +9

We have re searched it and found the following that confirms $ 26.00 with free shipping is a bargain.

Once again, you missed my point.

I never said I found it cheaper elsewhere.

I said that you claim you were selling it for $45, suggesting that the saving is $19, when clearly it does not appear to be…

Displaying a "before price" that is not the price your normally sold it for is against the law

        https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices#t…

"Statements such as 'Was $150/Now $100' or '$150 Now $100' are likely to be misleading if products have not been sold at the specified 'before' or 'strike through' prices in a reasonable period immediately before the sale commences."

        • +6

I agree, when did this shop ever sell it for $45 - it didn't, so how can it be a saving of $19.

They should list the was price at $31.

I think the representative that's posting is deliberately missing the point, they know what they're doing.

          Very deceptive behaviour…

  • +4

What JV is saying is that whereby it can be demonstrated that a pricing claim is false as JV has done, it is a violation of Australian law. The was price is a false and misleading claim and needs to be changed to $31.15 to avoid continuing to break the law.

  • Hello JV & Placard
Thanks for being a fantastic advocate for the Ozbargain community, this is why we love to list here as we know that the deals are real Matshop would never want to intentionally mislead as we have had such a great response and feedback to our deals. We have recently had a price rise across some of our products due to the fall in the $AUD and increased costs of our raw materials. These mats are listed up to$139.00 https://www.seton.net.au/safety-cushion-mat-t0438.html and the price we currently have at $38.00 plus $12.00 shipping is $50.00, so we felt that using $45.00 was a fair representation. If you guys still think this is misleading Im happy to change it but I hope this clarifies our rationale. Cheers and happy ozbargaining

    • +3

But hang on….the "Was" price of $45 doesn't include shipping.

If it used to cost $38 plus $12 shipping, then you state a was price of $38, not $45.

Free shipping is an additional bonus, you can't build in the shipping price to a was price.

    • +2

so we felt that using $45.00 was a fair representation.

so you admit you never sold it for $45 and came up with a "representation" ???

Did you read what the law is about 'Two-price comparison advertising' on the ACCC website ?

      https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices#t…

      • +2

Oh this is hilarious watching Dumb and Dumber argue.

        • +2

am I Lloyd or Harry ?

  • -3

We have read the ACCC guidelines and are satisfied that we are complying and Offering a Great Deal. Isnt it the total invoice cost that counts ? (ie including shipping) . We will leave it to the savvy buyers of Ozbargain to vote with their purchases. Note this deal is limited, our last offer sold out and we were inundated with emails asking for a Raincheck which is not always available. Cheers

    • +1

and are satisfied that we are complying

Your potential customers are not though.

Advertising a "was $45" price when you admit you never actually sold it at that price, and you actually were selling it for about $30 over the last year, is misleading your customers.

You are trying to fool customers into thinking they are getting a bigger saving than it actually is… That's why it is against the law in the first place.

    • and we were inundated with emails

      use a spam filter.

      • We dont regard communication from our customers as spam, we love to hear from them and assist wherever possible :)

  • Any showroom/pickup service for north ryde?

    • Hello tc4101
We are an online business and do not offer a pick up facility sorry, but the good news is that FREE shipping to your door is included on this deal. Cheers
