    • Isn't this similar to posting ALDI deals which you love. ;)

      • -1

not really, there's no link to the products in the sale so we can judge whether or not they are bargains…

        • definately good pickups here. This has been going for as long as i can remember. good luck buying socks. people leave with a shitload.

        • -1

          @andrew exclmtns:

          definately good pickups here.

          examples ?

        • @jv: how can i give examples? lol i'd just be listing items like the OP did. idk, if you dont mind rude people cutting in lines, bringing their kids so their kids line up whilst they go buy their items, then it's a good day. from my knowledge (cause mum use to work for them before they moved), they bring out new stock everyday.

I got footy boots for $45-50 which at DFO were still $150. Got some All Blacks supporters gear (which we all know is well overpriced). It's all about the hunt. I get there full of hope and but i normally give up 10mins in.

I normally pick up a few cheapies to donate and thats my good will for the year.

        • @andrew exclmtns:

          how can i give examples?

          Then I can't vote +ve.

I've heard from people that have been to previous ones that most stuff is just junk and the experience is aweful

        • @jv: lol thats ok. i don't think people or OP will lose any sleep. Most items are in store packaging, so its still neat and clean, but dumped into hundreds of cardboard boxes.

and its pretty unfair that you took my quote out of context.

          vote +ve.

        • @andrew exclmtns:

The OP didn't list anything, a Mod edited the post…
The description is too generic to do price comparisons.

        • @jv: oh sorry. ye my bad, i'll take that hit. i got onto this listing late.

  • Location in title please and sometimes, it helps to cut and paste some contents. e.g.

    $50
    - Adult Footwear
    - Golf shoes
    - Cricket Bats from $50
    - Denim jeans
    - Jumbo Wheelie Bags

last time i went to this, it was an absolute mad house.. if you don't go friday morning, forget about it

    • Is it worth going to?

      • it's really a hit and miss.. from what the workers were telling me, they stagger stock. But you have to weigh it up if its worth spending 40mins in the queue waiting to pay for a $30 item.

        • That's why I asked the question, I'm an ozbargainer.

But I cbf driving 1 hour, looking 10 years to find 1 piece of item then wait another 30 mins plus just to save $20.

Is the stuff there similar to adidas in south wharf dfo?

        • @bti_jet:

well there's a bunnings across the road.. but the place its being held at is a race course. There is nothing to do, unless there's a race event on, besides go to the sale

        • @supasaiyan:

Exactly what I thought, I'm not desperate to save a few bucks and waste all that time.

Cheers for helping make mind up :)

        • +1

@supasaiyan: Mate, that Bunnings was closed down last year :)

  • I remembered we tried to "get in early" by arriving at 8am on the weekend - the lines were insane.

    Shoes were pretty good though.

    • Are the prices so good to have that much hassle in getting there and wasting in queues.

      • Really depends on what you're after.

I got some great running shoes for $50, and I was with company so it didn't feel like I was wasting away in queues.

        • If you get a branded cloth for $50 we think it's cheap because we know the branded one says RRP is $300 so in our mind 50 is a bargain. Even after living in AU for few years I can't completely set my mind to think these are cheap prices after the price shock I had few years back when I first moved to Australia. The exact same $35 Nike shoe I bought from US was displayed for $299 in CBD on a shopping window. The exact same Fisher-Price toy we bought from ToysRus in US for $20 everyday price was in a box marked as 40% off and still the price was $85. The 52 inch samsung LCD was $4999 at Harvey Norman (I had the same in US bought for $1200 after some discounts on Thanks giving day)
Electronics have come down in last few years close to realistic prices but branded cloths are still way too high at retail.

        • I think you're forgetting one very important thing - you're not in the US any more so you have to start comparing apples to apples.

  • Here we go again!

  • +1

not that cheap, why go here and not Smith St?

  • are the puffy jackets made with gore-tex ??

  • Have fun digging through boxes and boxes. I know I will. Anything for a bargain!

  • +3

Last year was mayhem! When the doors opened, the person before me ran to the box that had all the hoodies and jackets, and just held on to it for dear life.
No control what so ever. Even the security are scared of the crowd. Howeve a few good bargains on offer!

  • 9:18am, the line is already over 100 deep.

People even have their own shopping bags to fill.

  • Bunch of people taking photos in the queue. Post your photos so i can figure out who you are bwahahaaa.

Anyway seems like they're letting people in in groups. So no mayhem.

Standing outside while the first lot were left in so hopefully will be something left by the time i get in

  • In groups? That changed. They let the whole lot in at the start and it was a mess. The usual everyone grab what you can and then stand off to the side to sort out what you got.

Someone is seriously going to get hurt and these sales one day when one person gets angry cause someone has a box full of random stuff

    • +1

Well when i finally got in the place was pretty packed. But not packed enough to have people fighting.

First group going in might be different i dunno but i do know there were a ton of people inside and doors were closed till people left and made more room

Seems like you were there before me so i'm going with your story :p

Super annoying that people took boxes to carry stuff they picked out and park those boxes near more boxes to look through stuff and you have no idea which stuff they've claimed etc since both look identical

  • No point going there.

Its a mess making it impossible to find anything good at all. Sales prices are average.

Biggest disappointment is the people and behaviour… Worse then Gypsies, worse then animals lol :)

  • +1

Arrived at 10AM, people were already leaving with bags. Perhaps it opened at 9AM. The store was already buzzing with people.
No sign of fleece wear anywhere. Except in people's shopping bags.
Only a few styles of womens shoes, but they were well stocked. The mens shoe table didn't have very much on it- I'm assuming they had been scooped up. My friend managed to get about 5 pairs of shoes, he's a US12 so that may have played a part.
A lot more ladies clothing than mens, and if you're willing to look through a whole heap of junk you can find some decent things.
The line is insanely long, but that is to be expected. Not a bad exercise if you have the time to waste.

I went last year and yes, it was mayhem with long, long queues, but I still look at my 2 pairs of runners ($100) and trackpants for $10 one year on and I am satisfied with my bargains.

Yep, I'm going again, because $50 runners from retail outlets are just cheap rubbish compared to the quality that I am still wearing. Wish I was still playing football or soccer as there were great boots on sale last year

  • Opened up at 9:15 this morning. I arrived at 10:15 and it was packed and people already were leaving with boxes.

A lot of kids soccer socks and some women's runners. If you have been here before there are a lot of the same stock as previously.

A lot of Sudney FC shirts for $25. Might be a good investment if they make the grand final next week. Sell at 100% makeup.

  • Its all crap this year
