Will the free poster say Free Poster on it or is that just the poster for the free poster?

    • +2

hahahah…. no, its the coloured bit in the middle mate :). The 'free' bit isnt on the giveaway.

"May the 4th be with you" at the bottom sounds like my grandpa is running the marketing department though ;).

    • +1

That's the actual one off poster which will become free on the 4th of May.

There'll be a mad rush for it when the store opens.

    • +2

if I take my two kids, can I get three free poster free free posters?

    • +2

I think he just posted a poster, a promotional poster, advertising a poster that's free.

      • +5

Could have used one more poster :)

"I think he the poster has just posted a poster, a promotional poster, advertising a poster that's free."

        • +3

Upon post posting reflection your poster post is well posted.

        • +1

          @Tasmaniac:

I know this is an odd post to post about a free poster, but is it possible for Target to post the free poster via Australia Post to my postal address, post May the 4th? I'll be too busy posting posts about free posters on OzBargain that day…

    • +3

      "Ill show myself out"

      Good choice.

    • +1

      what the hell is this?

  • +15

Your friend looks very excited about this.

  • +3

Will it have the giant "may the 4th be with you" across it in the middle?

    I'm guessing yes.

It would look much better without the tagline across the middle, imo.

    but hey, free is free.

  • +17

I find the lack of Alec Guiness in this Poster, disturbing.

    • maybe he is… elsewhere.

    • +3

anger is strong in this one

    • -1

I feel a disturbance in the force too lol…

  • +2

Guess I'll be taking annual leave to score one of these :P

    • You must have given yourself to the dark side of the force.

  • +16

    Needs more Jar Jar.

  • +1

Is this going to be at all Targets across australia?

    ie; country target etc.

    • +19

No, only in a galaxy far, far away.

  • Wife got the kids one today, they are quite small. Probably a bit smaller than A4.

    • +1

A4 poster? Doesn't it have to be at least A3 to qualify?

      • Actually you're correct, took another look in the kids room and it is A3.

        • so they are avaliable now? or were you just lucky?

        • +1

@Turd: I believe they are available now. Some greeter was handing them out this morning.

        • +1
        • @muncan: edited ;)

    • +16

      Your kids seem unusually tiny.

      • +2

        Ewoks?

  • Thanks mate

  • I hope it's a big poster of Jar Jar Binks

  • +9

Hahahah.. A3 size? That has to be a bigger disappointment than Ep 1 :)

  • I thank you young padawan. To the store we must go.

May 4th - "May the Force" be with you on International Star Wars Day too.

Wonder if they will have the usual Star Wars weekend at Dreamworld this year.

  • wow, so many plus votes for a poster.
you know you can get free posters from gaming shops if you ask. Might be able to get movie posters from JB Hifi and stuff too.

    • +1

It's Star Wars not just any poster ;-)

  • +2

Hopefully it's not one of those tiny ones you see people rip out from the middle of a magazine, if this is a full size poster like the ones they flog for 10 bucks or so, I'm in. Hell I'd prefer if it said May the 4th be with you, I think it's a cool tagline.

  • Looks like those $20 rolled posters, printed in USA.

  • Would be ok with the 1977 cast on it. Rofl at erm Anakin…

    • Agreed. Young Anakins acting ability was as believable as Jar Jar and the Ewoks. Keep them for the tray mats at McD's

got the poster from Bondi Junction Target early this afternoon, size is approx 30x42cm…

  • Such a butt ugly poster.

  • I just got one from Fremantle store.. its 30x42cm and have to say not really impressed with the size.. I was hoping to get at least 100cm one.. :(

  • Grabbed a few from Parramatta Target, you need to ask :)

  • +1

Just be careful @ Target in Roselands, the lady on layby try to rip me off, she said i have to buy something to get the poster, i told her that it's free and i don't have to buy anything, she call the manager and read the paper and realize was free, i've got 2!

    • +2

Clearly trying to use the force and mind tricks on you. Glad you were able to resist her evil notions.

    • +1

      Definitely a Sith.

  • +2

picked up a couple today. A3 size poster. Not bad, kids love it. Wont complain about free stuff

  • Just got one from the Melbourne CBD store. Still lots available but they are strictly limiting to 1 per customer.

  • Well, free is free.

  • Can someone please post a pic of the poster? I don't need one but if it looks too good to resist I'll go the nearest store this evening which is about 10 train stops away from home.

    • +1

The pic in the Original Post is the actual poster, minus the Target-releated text.

  • Grabbed 3 for me and my friends! The one in watergardens isn't being given much

  • +1

Just got one from target springwood qld, still a stack here.

It's A3 size, thin color printout, and its the one in the ad with the white background without any other markings but has the "may the 4th be with you" in the center.

    • "may the 4th be with you" great way to ruin a poster.

      • well that does make it sound american as their independence day is the 4th of july. not sure what the significance is in australia though.

        • colour & centre.

        • +1

It's always been a play on words with the saying "May the force (4th) be with you." So it is officially International Star Wars Day, wherever we are.

  • Okay so it's a bit smaller than I hoped, but I guess it is free..

  • I have got one. Gave it away to a nerdy friend.

  • +1

Just letting people know that there's a good chance you can still ask for these posters even though its officially past the 4th. A salesman at my local Target said he still had a full box left and that they had to throw the rest away in about 1 or 2 weeks time. He said it would be a waste to throw out so many nice posters and asked me to spread the word about the free posters to anyone who's into Star Wars.

    • Thank you for sharing. We shall visit today; sometimes life gets in the way ..

    • My store did a pretty crap job of promoting it (Just like they did then they shifted to staying open late for a while). The lady at the door had some in her arms (I happened to see her by luck as I couldn't see them anywhere else) but you wouldn't know in the lead up or on the day otherwise. No banner, nothing stuck on the expansive glass windows (perfect location), nothing in the electronics area. Never ceases to amaze me how a good idea/opportunity can be wasted by the people at store level (works both ways I guess). HO should have told them put them up in the windows a week before.

Target Melbourne city, as of today 7th May, still have the posters, not very large I must admit. Managed to grab a couple of them earlier today.
