All of them are made in China and the sole will only last 3-6 months if you are lucky with daily moderate use. I would recommend the crystal sole varieties to extend life.

    • i can attest to this.
mine fell part 4 months after daily work use

      • Meanwhile mine is going in 2 years and still strong.

Or less. Copy/pasting my old post…:

They are the worst-wearing shoes I have ever owned.

I bought a pair, which I walk in for 30 minutes each day for 5 days a week. That's to the office and home. I walk on concrete. I take my shoes off entirely when I'm in the office. I don't walk out at lunchtime to get lunch (I make it at home) but I do additional walking by going out on a friday, maybe the odd kilometre or two of errands each few weeks. This is the minimum anyone could expect to wear a work shoe.

It only took 4 months for the following to happen:
      1) Hole wearing ENTIRELY THROUGH at the ball of my foot.
      2) The heel had also worn through the 7mm bottom layer and was exposing chipboard (I walk heel first. I pronate, which means I roll my foot, but it's only a slight pronation).

I got them replaced, the manufacturer cited "manufacturing defect".

The replacement pair, 4 months later, same problem. Manufacturer didn't have an excuse that time.

I've now spent $45 having them resoled prior to wearing the third pair.

I was also told "no refund", which is ILLEGAL for them to claim, because the good is CLEARLY "not fit for purpose" since goods are warranted for 12 months by australian law and these only last for 4 months. They need to read up on the ACCC rules.

The manufacturer needs to get out the durometer and use harder rubber. They perform so poorly I honestly feel that they must know this happens and it is a blatant cash-grab, hoping that they will keep their money and the customer won't complain.

The true cost of these shoes, is Price + $45 for resoling. As such they are not a bargain.

And, Julius Marlow, if you dare to say otherwise then please let me provide you with the receipt for my resoling and you can reimburse me.

      • Thanks, was thinking of buying one. Not anymore.

Wait for the next Florsheim 50% off sale. Double the price for 20 times better quality.

Couldnt agree more. I have had no less than 3 Julius Marlow shoes, all which lasted about 8 months tops, thats for $100 shoes, and only used for light walking each day, monday to friday (probably a maximum of 1.5km total per day).

I moved on to Windsor shoes, in the same price range, and they are just a tad better. Next I'll try Floresheim to see if it is actually value for money or just another pair of overpriced Julius Marlows.

  • Quite a few people complaining about these, The last paid I bought was 7 years ago, still have them but wore them out. I am guessing that they have dropped in quality since then but when?

  • For $69 and casual use these are good value to me

  • Honestly not as bad as people say, I wear my scruffy pair of JMs to Uni, walking around a huge amount and they're still going strong.

  • I've had a pair with that "Crystalsole" stuff on the bottom and it lasted nearly 2 years (can't really comment on the shoes they sell without it though). My problem with the shoes I've had I'd that the innersole thing gets ripped to shreds and the inside of the shoe falls apart within a few months..
