Banned From FeeBay?

recently i have been having a clean out of old DVDs and blurays - as of last week, after about 50 Or so positive transactions with 100% positive feedback ive been banned indefinitely from selling on FeeBay. i would have thought this type of thing was reserved for scammers and fraudsters, not an honest average joe like me - but apparently this stems from cancelling a few orders. Admittedly 2 were because i had already sold the item on gumtree and forgot to remove the item on the site but the rest, about 8 or so, were from buyers who would not pay or respond to messages.

apart from solely selling on gumtree, Can anyone offer any advice on how/if i can get taken off the blacklist?

This could easily be seen that you don't want to sell the item at the auctioned price.

    • never had one auction, was all buy it now only

always report buyers for non payment, even if if you aren't being charged an insertion fee

        • ebay don't naru members unless they violate their policies. you're selling items on ebay that you don't have in stock or can't source within 30 days of the listing ending.

        • Will do in future..but the way it looks i dont have one on ebay

        • @pointless comment:

you can still trade on ebay. google ebay stealth account

        • @whooah1979: yes, im pretty sure the violation was the minimum seller standard requirement. But as i say, it was coz of cancellations from non payers

        • @pointless comment:
That's half your problem, just because they don't pay does'nt mean you cancel the auction, you would be doing the buyer a favour. Raise a dispute and go through the proper channels.

        • @cypher67: When the seller cancels a transaction, you need to select the reason for the cancellation - "as requested by buyer" (or something to that effect), is one of the options. So cancellations are not really a reason. Maybe your account was hijacked?

        • @downero: with the ones who wouldnt pay after a few days contact, i advised them that if they dodnt get bakc to me id assume they want to cancel. As such i did select the 'as requested by buyer' option. I dont think that matters - its aggregate cancellations apparently

Sounds like you didn't follow the rules and got burnt, suck it up! There are processes in place for people that don't pay which you should have followed. If you sell an item, even if it wasn't an auction, you are contractually required to transfer the item to the buyer. If you forget to cancel the item before it is sold it is not ebay's fault, think of the person at the other end you are jerking around waiting for you to ship the item? One of these people must have reported you and rightly so.

  • I advised them within hours if not minutes, was not trying to jerk anyone around…as i said the majority were from nonpayers, but thanks for the comment all the same

Maybe you could offer them a complementary Bonut?

Cancelling Buy It Now purchases because you messed up isn't fair on buyers and eBay needs to keep all the buyers it can get.

Don't cancel non-payers transactions, use the processes available on eBay to close it for you and recoup your fees. A good deal of buyers will pay once this process initiates.

eBay probably see you "cancelling" ten out of fifty transactions for whatever reason, the rate would have raised a red flag, and they shut you down because of it.

    • Yes, but if you force someone to pay when they dont want the item you open yourself up to the good old "i never recoeved the item - give me immediate refund or im going to paypal dispute" routine. The system is so heavily slanted towards the buyer you are often damned if you do and damned if you dont as a seller.

      • Ebay offers seller protection and you should include a tracking number with your sale. You really have no defence, you were selling items you already sold and cancelling orders for trivial reasons.

      • You're making problems where there are none. If you can prove you posted an item and it was delivered, you will have no issues. If you can't or don't post with tracking you take that risk but for cheaper items it's a risk worth taking. People are non-payers because they forget, or change their mind. Friendly communication is the key in this instance. Give them an out if they want it, it's easier for you in the long run. As a long time seller I've found that on the whole most people on eBay do the right thing. When selling use Buy It Now with immediate payment via PayPal and you'll eliminate all the idiots before you start.

It is good to hear that eBay has these measures in place to protect buyers. Ebay 100% correct to ban the poster, obviously

Thanks for the comment - I wish i saw eveything in black and white and absolutes like you, all the complexities in life would seem a lot simpler i imagine!

No need for that. Quite an immature attitude and judging by your comments here I suspect that the level of maturity you display in this thread is replicated on ebay.

The eBay T&Cs are in fact quite black and white and you have violated them. You are not allowed to sell items you have already sold and you are not allowed to cancel sales because you do not receive instant payments. You were a repeat offender on both of these violations within a short period of time. You have no credible defence whatsoever. The system is built on trust and sellers like you can't be tolerated without the member-base losing confidence in the service.

As a long time eBay buyer and casual seller it is with great relief to learn that eBay do not tolerate that behaviour.

Sorry if i offended u champ. I asked for advice on how the get back into ebays good books, all i seem to have attracted is judgement and condemnation despite admitting ignorance. And tracking is not feasable on a $10 item with free postage. If you had of bought off me, provided you payed or advised you would pay in a few days or something , i gurantee youd have been happy buyer.

    • All you can do is open a new account and start again. Not sure whether that's possible but worth a try. I doubt they'd reactivate an account with an indefinite ban. Keep in mind there are probably more stringent rules/stat requirements for new sellers seemingly doing dodgy things than for more established sellers. The biggest scam sellers would be new accounts and I imagine eBay monitor these via algorithms running behind the scenes on various stats (like cancellations, non-receipt, suspiciously large transactions, popular items sold en masse).

Hi, I think comments have been pretty harsh for you. You should give Ebay a phone call and explain your situation, or you can chat online, and hopefully they might be sympathetic. They need sellers as well as buyers.

    • Unless Seller follow the rules, then buyers wont have any confidence to use ebay. OP didn't follow the rules, I agreed contacting Ebay is the correct course of action but OP isn't the victim here.

  • We would highly recommend calling in for that to see what is going on, but many sellers have done that and have been turned away. Same goes with PayPal. This is why tons of sellers have starting opting for Amazon instead.

Here is some other sellers who are in the same boat.

    • Thanks , question: who is the 'we' you refer too?

      • JeffreyM1987 sounds like a rep or someone associated with either Ebay or PayPal. The member is based in Salt Lake City according to the profile and has only made two comments on OzBargain, both of which are on the topic of PayPal.
