Unlocking Telstra Mobile Using Prepaid Credit

Hi, I found this info about unlocking Telstra Pre-Paid mobile. At the moment I need to unlock my Lumia 530. I have read this post and it seems that bagman is no longer able to unlock Lumia 530? Also the cost is a bit high considering the price of the device.

Based on the crowdsupport thread above, am I right to say that basically I can use the $30 credit that I got from a starter kit to unlock the phone given that I have mine for at least 6 months now. Assuming that I can get starter kit for $15 (the usual price when it is on sale) then I basically get the phone unlocked for $15 plus $5 remaining balance and the bonus call and/or data. Anyone has done this before? Cheers.

    Interesting. I'd like to know too. I'm still using the $1 starter pack deal from Woolies last xmas. I'm hoping to use the $5 Vodaphone one soon but need to unlock first.

    Speaking to Telstra the other day (wanted to unlock USB dongle), and they have said unlocking fees are scaled as follows < 6 months is $88, 6-24 months is $27.50 and > 24 months was free.

    I don't know about using existing credit though to fund the unlock. Best of luck.

    I'll need to activate a starter pack in about 3 weeks time and I'll try this. But in the meantime if anyone has tried, I would love some feedback.
