Unlocking the Samsung E2510 Mobile Phone from Coles (Telstra) - know how???

I got myself a raincheck for a few of these from the recently posted bargain -they are great little phones and especially at that price.
Well, I really want to go buy them but only if I can unlock them from their shackles to Tel$tra.
The family is all on Virgin… not really the point. I haven't been able to stand Telstra for years…
Anyway, does anyone know how I can unlock these without paying Telstra's ridiculous fee?
I have searched the net. I looks promising but I haven't quite got here yet.
Anybody have any luck?

  • I paid 37$ to telstra to unlock once as other alternatives are like 25$ on ebay + postal charge. My phone was more then 6 months when i called telstra and it was very easy process.

  • Yeah fair enough, but most phone companies charge nothing for an unlock after 6 months. Telsta are A-holes.
What I am looking for is a software unlocking solution if anyone knows one…

  • the PUK code is build into the microprocesssor of the phone in hex. It can be grabbed by using a program called QMAT. Thats the easy part, once that is done you need to find out where the PUK is located. Google is your friend with this.

anyway, i think thats how you can unlock it. Otherwise you can pay the telstra fee.

  • No…. unfortunately the PUK code is associated SIM card of the phone. If you put your incorrect pin in more than 3 times you will require the PUK to unlock the SIM card. The unlock code is with the actual handset itself. Manufacturers lock the handset to the individual telco on the prepaid handsets.

    • ahh oops/
