    I just got a camelcamelcamel alert for the 256GB version, USD $89.99 + $5.05 delivery = USD $95.04/AUD $117.62

    • That one is tempting.

    • Bloody hell that's cheap !..

  • Thanks. Just picked up 3 of the 256 GB versions for AUD $340 approx on my 28 degrees. USD $5 delivery for all 3. I have the 512gb mx100 at home already and it is a really great drive.

    • It's this or Samsung 850 EVO for me, I know the sammy is slightly faster and I've never had any problems with Samsung but this is also quite a chunk cheaper.

      • Yeah, I'd been umming and aahing over the EVO 850 from Shopping Express $144, waiting to see if a better deal came up. Decided the BX100 wasn't cheap enough to justify the difference. The "quite a chunk cheaper" on this is 18% (or the EVO is 22.4% more than the MX100) so I've hit Place Order.

This is to replace a mechanical drive, so anything is going to be faster. I won't notice a big enough difference in the EVO 850 to justify 18% cost.

  • I was about to pull the trigger on a couple 256 to upgrade my raid. Then I worked out the figures, the OCZ ARC100 is only couple dollars more -once CC fees are added, and is locally available.

  • That's cheap! I almost just bought a second-hand one for $210.

IMO if you've got spare slots in your laptop- get a couple 512GB's instead of one 1TB drive (in case one fails).

  • Thanks OP!

  • Still have an unopened 256GB Crucial M550 from the last Amazon sale, but this 512GB is very tempting!

Sometimes I ask myself if OzBargain actually saves me money or not…

  • Which is better the MX100 or paying an extra $30 to get the Samsung Evo 850 1tb?

    • You meant Samsung EVO 850 512GB (based on the price diff you mentioned)?

If you asked me 2 weeks ago, I would say Samsung. Now, with my Samsung SSD died last week (Samsung 840) and I am not happy with the way Samsung deal with the 840 EVO issue (it was basically moving files around every 3 months), I am not happy with Samsung. The RMA process is not that good (have to fork out money to post the drive back because it is just out of the 1 year warranty support from the retailer) and the whole process is slow.

I think with SSD, reliability is important. Even if you backed up all the files, the fact that you are out of a system drive when it broke is still quite annoying.

I would rather go with MX100 because EVO 850 hasn't been around long enough.

  • My SSD actually died on me last week but lucky I had a backup prior thanks to reflect (my c drive is now a 9yr old WD green(long live wd green but dam the loading time is horrible)). I am considering a 256gb Samsung evo but only because of it's nice warranty. I'm even thinking of paying premium for pro since it has 10yrs. What's the warranty for this drive/brand?

My Crucial SSD M4 256GB died in 2.5 years. Had to post it back to the US, was not cheap ($28 if I remember correctly). Replaced with a refurbished 240GB M500 instead of the latest 256GB MX500. Needless to say, will be buying a different brand after the experience.

  • Thanks, bought the 256GB one for my wife's notebook.

  • This offer is expired now.

The M500 is only AUD $366 for 960GB if anyone's still interested.

  • After all the problems the MX100 256 has given me I would not recommend that drive to anyone.
It worked well for about a month or two before the BSOD’s and other problems started to appear.

Best to not take the risk and go with Samsung or Intel (I have had both working flawlessly for a year now).

    • FYI, my Samsung SSD died after 2 years (very light usage, less than 500 hours, less than 1TB of total writes). Had to send the SSD to Samsung. They will probably send me a refurbished SSD (still waiting for them to do so).
