Cheap or Free Skyscraper / Skyview in Sydney??

Hi guys,

I am just wondering if there are any cheap or free Skyscrapers in Syndey??
I still remember there was a high rise building (government from memeory) that gives you free access when l was travelling in Japan few yrs ago. Is there anything like that in Sydney, Melbourne or other city within Aus??

  • A skyscraper to me is just a really tall building, so if I understand correctly, you just want to go inside a tall building?

    • I should clarify, a place where l can see skyview of the city..

        probably the internet. lols

      • You're probably better off finding a viewpoint which isn't a building in which to enjoy the city scenery, in order for it to be cheap/free.

I'm thinking parks that are perched on cliffs or the likes. Can't think of any off the top of my head, but I'm sure others can help think of some with this in mind :)

Only problem being that it won't be a proper view of the city from above - it'll be a view from the city from further away. More of the city lights (if viewed at night).

free + sydney don't go together in one sentence.

  • Observation Point at The Rocks is a nice option for view of the harbour, North Sydney and some of the CBD.

  • It's not a skyscraper and you probably shouldn't go without buying something, but you can go here to get a drink for a good view…

The Sky Terrace at The Star has a nice view of the cityscape and the harbour as well - http://www.star.com.au/sydney-nightlife/Pages/Sky-Terrace.as… - certainly easy enough to go up for a look if you're in the area (though it closes over winter).

I am sure at least one of the offices will have good views.

  • The Pylon Lookout for $11, not free but cheap and a great view http://www.pylonlookout.com.au/

There are certain buildings throughout the city where one could enjoy the view, if one was so inclined.
