$8,000 for 766m² Land, What Would You Do with It?

Just randomly came across this on realestate website:

http://www.realestate.com.au/property-residential%20land-sa-…

$8,000 for a 766 m² residential land. I am not going to move to Padthaway, but $8,000. Too cheap to be true…

I have been thinking if I get this block of land, what can I use it for (apart from building a house)? Any suggestions?

  • Maybe you can sell it for $20K in 10 years time?

  • Maybe buy it so you can pay fees on it every year. I can't really see any use other than a house or maybe a big shed to store trucks etc.

  • Car Park amongst Grape Vines w/Fence.

  • maybe its been dumped with chemical waste or asbestos.

  • maybe it's the lucky number 13?

I am betting on that sale contract will have clauses.

Like, it is $8000 and you have to build a house with only THIS specific builder, and select only one of two pre-set layouts and setup which all up including land price, costs what the usual land price plus house cost is.

There could be a massive easement on the block which restricts you from building a proper house.

Also, building a house isn't just land price + house build price. There's shit ton of site cost, etc which gets added.

For 8k, you gotta wonder why Lot12 didn't buy it, knock the fence down, and merge both properties. So there is something wrong/suspicious

    It's a trap.jpg

It's probably a typo, going for 80k. If the house next door got 100k, it seems plausible

    • I'd go with it being a typo, I have found heaps of typos on websites like this or carssales, Shit happens I guess

  • I'm betting on a typo…no way you can get it for 8K!

  • Not a price error as it was 10k a few weeks ago. google cache

Dig it up and move it to Melbourne…profit!

  • Negative capital gain. It sold in 2007 for $10k.

  • This is about 1 hour away from mount gambier (a very popular holiday destination).. maybe you could leverage that somehow?

  • You could graze cows or sheep in it…..

  • Bikie clubhouse next door?

  • I call up and ask why? land in some part of Aus is still cheep my parent live you buy a house for 80,000 still.
